It's at a state park, not sure if that was even mentioned. But I did call numerous times no one ever told me it would cost me 10.00 to park on top of the 35 45 bucks to canoe for two elderly adventurous people, just glad to be getting out to do something active for a change on a limited income. We both have bad knees, can't run handicap sticker in our car that is 20 years old (kind of lucky to have even made it)! I told the lady sitting at the park I can't afford 10 dollars she said well the web site says it cost to park, I said I did not see it any where on the web site. Talk about a ridiculous cost to park while you canoe. I said for even handicap senior citizens she said yes. I said Well I am not paying that, I can't afford that, we will figure out what else we can do. So I looked around for some place to park where we could walk into the park without paying couldn't find anywhere. So, we went to the one that is in ann arbor FREE PARKING. Ridiculous it would seem like something else could be figured out with this expensive cost. I like to bird watch and saw a cool Wood Ducks in the water, a tree swallow, and a swan! You can also stop by the water (very close to the shore) in the short hike at least 3 times and see some turtles. And there are many chipmunks and some other birds along the path. And there are a lot of people canoeing or kayaking on the water.

Great park for distance running - when I was training for a half marathon, I would come here for anywhere from 3-8 mile runs. I actually typically like parking at the boat launch entrance off Geddes, but there is plenty of parking at the main entrance as well. It's just a little bit of a quieter entrance to the park. Over the last couple of years, they've had some fantastic art displays there as well. Very dog friendly, kid friendly, bike friendly, all of the above! Tends to be one of the busier parks, but for good reason.

It's not a bad little park, nestled on the winding Huron River with a couple ball fields and well maintained bathrooms. But little is the operative word there. Delhi just doesn't have that Metropark feel. At just over 80 acres I knew Delhi was the runt of the Metropark litter and had my expectations set low. Both Kensington and Stony Creek sprawl for well over 4000 acres. I knew I wasn't walking into anything like that and I had something to attend to in Ann Arbor so I wasn't making a special trip for this park. Even still Delhi underwhelmed me. It might be a lovely place for a picnic or family gathering but damn, the single trail doesn't even venture into any woods! The single lane orange bridge leading here is a pleasing quaint sight, but the traffic light that lets only vehicles from one direction move through is another flashing sign that Delhi is pretty small potatoes. There is an area west of said bridge I didn't even explore, not knowing it was there, but I can tell from maps it's a lot smaller than the main chunk of the park and not enough to boost my ranking here. There is a livery for renting canoes and kayaks there, but for all I know it has a separate listing on Yelp. And it's still several amenities short of a typical Metropark. Also, good God, there was a tremendous amount of goose poop on the early July evening I visited Delhi. I mean, Mother Nature and Mother Goose will be what they'll be but anywhere near the river i. e. what little scenery this park has was a veritable minefield of gander dander. Belle Isle can have this problem after the first spring thaw but I was surprised to see the grounds of a subsidized park look like this in the middle of summer. I guess Huron-Clinton Metroparks only saves the tiniest sliver of its budget for this red headed stepchild of the chain. (I read this park was given to the chain and they obviously decided not to look a gift horse in the mouth.) I'm sure there's locals that love this place but Delhi Metropark is more like Delhi micropark.

And then we played along the Huron River which flows gently though this part of the park though there are rapids a bit farther away. But we had nice views of the geese on the river here. There is a very nicely designed and rather unique play structure, designed as a ship, nautical themed all around. It was good for even a toddler but with adult supervision. Since it was an uncrowded weekday, no competition with older kids but I suspect it would be a very different experience when it's very full. The parking lot is large but I imagine even it will be full at certain times. It's an easy drive from Ann Arbor and a very nice part of the MetroPark system.

Let's start with summer... pontoon sun deck with diving board, dock with diving board, water slide... Plenty of room to lay out. Just about anything under the sun can be rented for maximum enjoyment.. paddle boards, boats, paddle boats, floats, rafts etc etc. all reasonable prices. Here with family? A roped off sandy beach area with a couple floats for the kids to enjoy. Also- ADA water toys to help those that need help getting into the water. A nice touch! Did I mention an ice cream cart that drives around?! Or if you don't want to wait... a snack bar with all the options... water/pop/gaterade and snacks... including ice-cream. Want to host a party? There is a barn. Or a pavilion and plenty of upgrades to make the day fun including grills to rent or comfortable lounge chairs. Rentals are endless.... Anything and everything to make the day great. Wouldn't be surprised if you could purchase a bathing suit at this place. Not into water? Plenty of fun activities on land. Volleyball nets, orbeez gun obstacle to go all tactical with your buddies, horse shoe, disc golf. Sounds like camping is now included. And plenty of fire pits to rent for a fall gathering. You can opt to paddle upstream which is a great workout or you can float your way downstream whichever you prefer. Overall, cool little place to come and partake in outdoor activities.
