Classic Barbershop. I have only had my hair cut once here because I no longer get a classic barbershop style of haircut. If that sounds like your sort of thing than you have to check out Tech's. Expect a couple of old men in there doing stuff that barber's used to do. Like using a straight razor on the back of your neck. Or on your face, if you want. I wasn't quite that brave, but the next time I want to feel like Michael Corleone (without having someone whacked) I'm putting on my best suit and heading in to Tech's for a professional barber shave. read more

I go to a barber about once every two years. I usually just shave my own head. But my clippers were dull and I thought I'd go for some old-timey luxury. The main guy (teck?) is one of those cool old guys that's still a hard-ass after 17 heart attacks and a long ago 40 pack a day cigarette habit. I've been there twice this summer, and both times I was really happy when I left. The second time I went, I had a different guy. After he was finished meticulously shaving my head, he said "do you want me to trim your beard, too?" Um, hell, why not? He spent another 10 minutes trimming all the feral beardiness off of my face until I was gleaming with bearded respectability. I tipped him an extra 5, and drove my imaginary nice car to my imaginary respectable job. read more

Heading to Teck's for a haircut is a special event, like taking a trip to Hyde Park for a nice steak dinner. It does not happen that often, but I look forward to it every time. The barbers are all very friendly. I have been going to this shop for the 8 years I have been going to school at OSU, and I am never disappointed. If there is anything you want them to change they are not offended and are happy to make adjustments to your liking. The only flaw is that this place is too small for its popularity. When you go, you can plan on a decent wait time. I don't think I have ever waited less than 30 minutes. I usually set a side an hour and a half of my day for the trip. The good news is that the waiting room is arguably the best part of the entertainment. The barbers are always having hilarious discussions about ridiculous stories from their personal lives or ranting about other male topics, always rated R of course. They finish up the cut with warm shaving cream on your neck and a straight razor to leave you feeling smooth. I highly recommend Teck's to others. It is affordable, entertaining, and TOTALLY worth the waiting time! read more

Well... They're great guys in there. Outgoing, happy and funny... the cost is $28 now which I feel is a little steep, which was a little bit of a surprise when it was $23 not too long ago... but I was hoping the more I'm paying the better... which unfortunately wasn't the case this time. I went in there just looking to trim the top a little bit and fade the sides which was much needed. I told the barber to fade the sides and just a lil trim on top, I wanted to keep the top and I thought I made that clear but when he was done it didn't turn out the way I had hoped. My hair on top was way shorter than I asked for when I just wanted a little trim... can't even style it any way now since it's so short. Felt like he kind of did his own thing. read more

The guys at the shop were cool, nice, and polite. However, the haircut I got was nowhere near worth the $28 plus tip. I could have gotten the same result from a great clips. In addition, the barber I had really didn't even listen to what I asked him for. I asked for just a small trim and that I wanted to keep my hair long. My hair is super short now and I'm waiting for it to grow back. Go to mug and brush instead. They are more careful, take their time, and it's cheaper. Will not be returning to Teck's. read more

I usually cut my own hair because I can, and because I usually can't trust anyone else with fading my hair correctly. I've gone to many other places that just straight up F* my hair up. But Zach (I believe is his name) faded me up just right and on my birthday, too. All the barbers are funny and down to earth. I will be back even if it means fighting the traffic to/from Gahanna. The haircut itself was amazing, but there was no formal waiting line, and when there was 8 people waiting for a haircut the workers all took turns taking breaks, therefore causing a total of 4 people to walk out and not get a haircut. The floors were covered in hair and it was a pretty dirty place. But like I said, if they fixed the way the ship sails and cleaned up more often then it would easily be 5/5. read more

The best haircut I've ever had. This is located on OSU and has an old school charm. reminiscent of what you would imagine a barber shop in the 50's and 60's but the two barbers on duty were in their early 30s. no frills, no bullshit fashion magazines, and no irritating music. Orange county Choppers was on the flat screen while the barbers and patrons made joking comments. the barber didn't use guards and for my hair, short and spiky, in fact, he only used shears for a moment. they haircut took a while, a good 30 minutes. completed with a straight razor for the neck. so, if you want a great haircut by a 'true barber' ( a lost art) go here.. 15 bones. but worth every penny. read more

This is the best place to get your ears lowered! They don't take take credit card and a cut is $15 so be prepared. These guys use the old straight razor and make sure you don't walk out with hair on your shirt. Do your dignity a favor and skip the strip mall hair salons and let these guys take care of you. read more

When I walked in there were 5 barbers with 5 guys waiting. It took around 45 minutes for my turn (which I thought was very reasonable). All the 5 barbers were at the top of their game. They were giving all their clients these classic neat looking cuts. They charged me $18 for a regular cut. It was worth every penny! After experiencing my haircut here .. Most of the barbers are pretty great but they've raised their prices. In the past a regular haircut has been $18 but got charged $23 today. There are other barbers that are just as good in the area charging more reasonable prices. read more

Like Nathan L. said, this is one of the last old-school barbershop type places left in this increasingly nouveau riche city. If you're looking for a feathered fashion mullet with frosted tips and lightning bolts shaved in to the sides, this is the last place on earth you'd want to trust with your hair. If you're looking for a simple, no-bullshit crew cut or fade, however, then this is exactly where you want to be. After cutting my hair less than four times in a two year period of time, I finally gave in to the whims of The Man and decided to get it all chopped off, corporate cut style. I told the guy behind the chair something to that effect, and within 5 minutes I had a decent looking 'do that still had some semblance of style to it. I explicitly told him at least three times that I'd murder him if he made me look like I was in the Air Force ROTC, and to my surprise he actually listened. The haircut grew in perfectly even on top of that, making it much easier to forget the trauma of having to get all my hair cut off in the first place. There's usually a gang of three or four guys just sitting around here, which makes me wonder who works here and who doesn't. Regardless, if you're fixin' to get your wig busted, Teck's will do it up reeeeal nice. read more
