I brought my PlayStation 5 in for a cleaning. Once I got my system back any time I started it up it went right into safe mode and the only way getting past it was factory resetting the system. But this was only a temporary fix it continued to go into safe mode anytime it was turned off. I could not complete a system software update through the internet or USB when downloading the file off PlayStations website. I brought my system back to them bc something clearly went wrong in between it being disassembled cleaned and reassembled. They went on to tell me that it's not a hardware issue that is causing my system to not be able to complete an update....very unlikely and not even given and explanation of what they did to even try to remedy the problem. Only thing I was told that they tried were the same two options I tried doing MYSELF. Horrible store read more

Regarding printer repair: TechRestore, as with many technology repair stores, does not fix printers. They, like other repair stores, have told me that repair cost more than replacement of a printer. My 3-star rating is only because of this fact. I have not needed repair for computers or phones, so I cannot evaluate based on these services. read more

The time where one single key kept falling off the keyboard. Yes, just one. Only one. I have found every YouTube video, and followed instructions to put it back. Unfortunately I was unsuccessful. Do you know how annoying it is when you spend a lot of time working from home and you can't type correctly? Oh, and you know which key it was? T. The letter T. It couldn't be X, Q, or Z, it was T. Now what's a girl to do when the YouTube videos just keep failing her? The Apple Store seemed like it would just be too much of a hassle, appointments, Genius Bar, crowds at the mall, you get the idea. Now what? Check yelp of course to see who can help with repair. The first hit I got on Yelp, tech restore. They offered quotes and information about appointments. I submitted a request via quotes to explain my issue. I was contacted quickly and given a reasonable quote, and advised I didn't need an appointment. So on this lovely Saturday, I ventured out to a Tech Restore with my computer hoping for a miracle. The location is in a strip mall. It is open and inviting with old Mac's gracing the walls as decoration and as a coffee table. You can purchase iPhone cases and refurbished laptops and iPads in the space. The technician who met us was very kind. I told him the issue and he asked to look at it. We shared stories and jokes while he worked on it. It took him about 15 minutes but he got my issue resolved. I was overjoyed! I'm so excited. I purchased a video card and a power supply installed it and my system went up in smoke. I went all over town looking on the weekend for a tech place after my PC went up in smoke thinking it was beyond recovery. tech restore had it not only up and running in less than a week but removed the parts that caught fire(the Ssd and SATA cable) gave me a free diagnostic and reimaged the machine for me, and installed the new video card and power supply properly. My kid sat on his MacBook and cracked the screen. The Genius at The Apple Store wanted $800 to fix it, or rather, have me buy a new one for $999. It didn't take this "Genius," me, to figure out there must be a better way... TechRestore to the Rescue! Googled up "Mac Screen Repair" and "About 5,460,000 results (0.20 seconds" later, they were at the top of the list. Reading a bit more, they're in Concord, or is it Clayton!?! Called up Linda who said TechRestore could replace the screen for $229 with free shipping (2-5 days snail mail each way) or if I bring it in, $250, same day, and done in about 1-1/2 hours. I left Berkeley and was in "God's Country, Clayton and/or Concord, CA" in about a half hour. It was kinda hard to find, even with GPS. TechRestore is in an industrial park, right behind Costco. Know that in back of Costco is no help, because Costco is a really "big mother f'n of a store!" Remember, it's on the corner of a while building with an Oak Tree in front. Dropped it off, went to lunch at Emil Villa's Original Hick'ry Pit in Walnut Creek (my good friend owns the store), got a really great car wash at Ebi Car Wash, and just like they promised, it was all fixed and ready when I returned. Took my 2011 iMac in several months ago for email glitches, connectivity issues,etc. & left it it for diagnosis. The tech solved one issue but it kept reoccurring @ home & rather than offering to solve the problem kept asking me ridiculous questions over the phone. As I did not want to leave the computer at the store, I went to Simply Mac which ran a Malware program & eliminated all the problems while I waited. It appears that Tech Restore did not even run a Malware program which I now downloaded for free nor did they offer a refund for my $80 expenditure. I shall not return. read more

Dropped off my 4 year old macbook for a hard drive upgrade one afternoon. Received a call the next morning that my computer was ready for pickup, just as promised. TR finished the job early and did it right. Everything was copied to the new drive perfectly (you wouldn't even notice the difference except for the extra space). Finally I should note the price was much cheaper than some of the local shops, so it was well worth the 30 minute drive. I wish all merchants were as reliable as TR. read more

I took my iPhone 6S to the Apple store, after I had to make a review and arrive 15 minutes early and then wait for the employee to get to me. She was constantly getting interrupted by other people and she ended up telling me that the connector between the charging port and the battery was damaged, and that there wasn't anything they could do to help me. But would I like to purchase a new phone for $299? So I took my phone to the TechRestore. I walked in at 1:40, they waited on my, and told me they'd give me an email by around 3. I brought my phone in and had it fixed for $243.80. Which, for a college student, is a lot of money to put out for a screen repair. When I got the phone back it was a little touchy but I assumed it was because the screen was new and I wasn't used to that. A week after getting it repaired, I hadn't dropped it or anything, a green line popped up on the screen. I called them and they told me that they would get back to me and they never did. The green line had gone away and I was too busy with my school work to notice that they hadn't gotten back to me. Then, two days ago, my phone just turned off and got stuck on the loading screen. I called again and was told that they cannot issue me a refund because to do so they need to replace the awful screen they put in with the original one that was messed up. I can't even attempt to do that because I just go to school in Kentucky and with all of this COVID-19 mess I had to go back home to Texas. They did not even refund me when I told them there was no way I could just go in and get the screen swapped. Now I'm out $243.80 because they couldn't properly repair my phone and will not give me a refund. They are nice but I wouldn't let them repair anything. read more

One morning I woke up to my laptop next to me still open. I decided to close the laptop in my drowsy state and I accidentally closed it with my lightning cable resting near the top of the speakers. The glass and screen shattered and I was left with an unusable screen. Here is where TechRestore comes into play. My father already had a TechRestore box from a previous transaction with my uncle (my uncle sent in his computer, so we had a left over box to ship my computer). I am telling you this because TechRestore commented a few times that my hinge issues were when I dropped and shattered my screen. MY COMPUTER HAS NEVER BEEN DROPPED. The screen shattered due to stress placed on the corner of the glass from the lightning cable. Send my computer to TechRestore, turn around time is less than a week which is impressive. Open up the box and my computer and the hinge is not even screwed in. At all. There was so much wobble and free play in the hinge that I emailed them and sent it right back. No hassle and they paid shipping. Mistakes happen so this wasn't a huge deal albeit an annoyance. A week later I receive my computer. I open up the package again to inspect my device. This is where I start to document my experience. After all, the first hinge issue might have been a fluke. Mistakes happen and I can forgive a one time ordeal. I am without a computer for a total of 2 weeks at this point and I still have a broken unusable laptop. I am sure everyone knows how vital their computer is in their life. Answering emails and working on documents on my iPhone was manageable but it sucked. TechRestore asks me to send it back so they can look at it and "fix" the problem. I oblige, turn around time this time is around a week and a half due to snow storms. Finally, I receive my computer. Do not turn it on just yet, instead I inspect the physical screen and hinge. Everything seems to be in order fantastic. Boot up the computer. The brightness is all fucked up. The brightness refuses to move on my screen now (still a current issue). Look at the bottom again and the amount of light leakage there is. How can I enjoy a movie in full screen with this issue? TechRestore has told me multiple times that they have quality control. In my experience I have been the quality control every time my computer comes back. All these issues are not hard to find, it is disappointing that their quality control is lacking and/or non-existent. I need my computer for my everyday errands and work, I cannot afford to send it back for THE THIRD TIME. I understand shit happens but for shit to happen three separate times is a joke. Recently, my iPhone's dock Connector hasn't been working. After diagnosing the problem at home and trying various ways of fixing it, nothing worked. So we figured it needed to be replaced. As I came in, the people here seem friendly enough. I left my phone here overnight, because they were 1 technician short to do a diagnosis on the phone. She mentioned that it's usually best to come early in the morning to get a diagnosis by the afternoon. As I was leaving she mentioned they needed to get my access code to be able to get in and test the phone. Feeling highly uncomfortable, I figured it was necessary. The next day, the technician gave me a call back at 10 AM to talk to me about the phone. He told me he did a diagnosis and the dock connector seems to be charging fine. Then I told him that it doesn't play music when I plug it in my car like it's suppose to. Then he mentioned, there was no way of testing that to see if it worked or not. Funny, I thought that's what a diagnosis was suppose to be? He told me that I probably don't have to replace it, but if I do, it would be $80. And if their part don't work, then they can re-swap it back with my part and give me a refund. So I said, well let's just do it. Later on the afternoon, I was called to pick it up. When I got there, I said I was going to test it out first. Luckily I did. My home button now was stiff, volume buttons now wasn't working ( no sound coming out from the speaker), and most importantly, the dock connector still doesn't work. So I went back inside and talked to the technician. The conclusion came down to that it maybe after installing it also created a problem with the other parts. I asked, did he check all of it to see if worked after fixing it. He told me, "yes, we always check everything before we give it back to customers". Well this wasn't true, because on the phone, he told me there was no way of testing it. Honestly, I just didn't appreciate the inconvenience of driving there to find out it wasn't properly checked to see if my phone was working now with the new part. All he told me was he's not sure what happened and that it might be a motherboard issue if the new dock connector isn't working. It seems like he was just guessing now. There could've been numerous things, like installing a defective part or that they did a poor job of installing it, etc. But he just told me that he will swap my part back on and get it working to the same condition again as I had it. Fine. After a few hours, I was called in to pick it up. I made sure I checked everything before left. And luckily, it was working the same as when I gave it to them. And they gave me a refund. It just bothers me that you would expect going to experts to fix these things to do a good job & test everything before they return it back to the customers. read more

I dropped my iPhone this morning and shattered its screen. Went online found that TechRestore was highly recommended on yelp. I went to their website, ordered the replacement screen and dropped it off at their store. 5 hours later I'm back in action with a new Apple OEM screen and in better working order. Prices are about 2X others and not customer focused even in these times. TechRestore is awesome. My iPhone 4 screen broke a week after I got it, so I ordered one of their replacement screens for $100 - cheapest I could find. My fumble hands couldn't get that right and I ended up fumbling that repair. So I called for advice and they were kind of enough to say "hey, its ok, send it to us and we'll fix it. Since you had problems we'll give you a discount and take care of it. " That's really cool. They totally get that not everyone is a repair genius. But that's not the best part. They received the phone at 4pm on a Wednesday, repaired it, and shipped it TWO HOURS LATER! Holy Cow that's impressive!!!!! Well my room mate suggested this place, so I figured give it a whirl. I went in on a Friday and was told I would be better to bring it in another day. So I waited until the next week and dropped off my phone at 1:11. I was told I would get an email when my status was updated. I asked if it would be done by the next morning and the person who checked me in said "Who knows, sometimes they shock and awe." At a little before 3:00 I was emailed to call about my order status. Turns out my home button on my phone just needed to be re-aligned and I was just charged a few dollars for that, and my new battery has a 1 year warranty and it was ready to be picked up. I would highly recommend TechRestore. I brought my 2009 Macbook Pro in for a hard drive upgrade. Their service is great and efficient. The customer service people were very friendly and patient. I brought my Macbook in at 1pm and was told I could pick it up at 8am the next day. Although I wish I could've picked it up on the same day, it's way faster than dropping it off at the Apple store and waiting for them to upgrade it. Additionally, it comes with a 1 year warranty. Yes, the parts are obviously cheaper if you order them yourselves, but not everyone has the parts and time on hand to do the upgrade themselves, which is what I think makes TechRestore's services great. read more

Matt is awesome he fixed my MBA cracked screen no time and looked at my wife's MBP too. I want to give him 5 stars for the service, the work, the price, the shipping. My big complaint is I needed this fast and when I explained I had 2 MacBooks to look at, I was told by the woman who answers the phone that they "may" (no guarantee) be able to have same day turnaround, and that they are open 10am-4pm on Saturdays. I decided to risk it and go for it and drove all the way out there (45min on e way) the next morning on Saturday to get there at opening time. Once I got there I find out they don't work on Macs on weekends. The Mac people wont be in until Monday. I am very pleased with the EXCEPTIONAL customer service here. Over the phone and in person were very helpful. My mac had some water damage and would no longer turn on. After about 72 hours of letting it dry upside down it would not turn on. And they totally saved it! I had to have a cleaning, and replace the top part of the keyboard. So far so good, as I am using my now functional computer to type this review. My only two complaints would be that the technician who worked on it, did not let me know when he was done repairing it, so I waited an entire day, unsure if I could pick it up. Minus 1 star. I had to contact them to ask. Second minor complaint, is that the technician did not explain the charges fully, and I was very displeased at getting a tad higher bill than what he initially quoted over the phone. I asked about it, and some adjustments were made, but had I not asked about why the receipt total was higher than what the technician told me, I would have been overcharged by at least 50 dollars.The cashier did not even read the NOTES section, which showed a discrepency in the amount I was billed, until I showed him. Minus second star. Overall, I think this is a solid company that provides excellent customer service and can fix almost any issue with mac computers . Had the above-mentioned issues been handled differently, I def would not hesitate to give them a 5 star rating! read more

2 hard drive failure in 14 months!!! TechRestore was wonderful last year when my MacBookPro hard drive failed. They replaced it with the 1Tb drive I requested, at the price advertised, but less than a year later(Jan 2012) the new drive died. Being wonderful about their replacement agreement they put another 1Tb internal hard drive in for free. I had to pay for shipping to them. The diagnosis took a little longer than normal, two days. Unfortunately the new customer service lady was less than friendly. The owner and the techs have always been extremely pleasent and informative. The lady? meh. Now, the 2nd 1Tb drive has failed after less than 2 months. I am very careful with my MacBookPro, leave it on the desk 99% of the time, no drinks near it, etc. I have called them and have not received a reply yet, it was late in the day. The two stars are for the quality of the drives and the new customer service lady, not the people that work there or the owner. I understand hard drives fail. My hope is that they will replace it again and QUICK! I am now contemplating an SSD so that I can get away from the moving parts. read more

You don't want to need the services of a place like TechRestore, but when you find yourself with broken technology they are the BEST place to go. I managed to get moisture under my iPhone screen yesterday. I called my phone carrier and they recommended the Apple store. Apple wanted to sell me an extended warranty for nearly $300 and then charge me additional to fix the phone. Argh! After calling a few places, I talked to the nice people at TechRestore and followed their simple instructions which included bringing my phone to their store. I made it to them by 4pm on Tuesday and by Wednesday 10am they had fixed the problem (replaced the screen, dried the phone, and ran diagnostics to ensure that it worked properly). The bill was right around $100, which is far less than replacement or Apple warranties. They are super heroes without spandex and capes. read more

After a bad experience with another repair shop, I brought my phone to this shop. The customer service was very good and the phone was ready when they said it would be and looked beautiful when it was done - after I had broken not only the front screen but the back glass as well on my iphone 4. I'm sure I'll be back again the next time I break the darn thing. The only reason I subtracted a star was because of the following: I dropped off the phone in the afternoon and when I dropped it of the guy told me that they were too busy to do the phone that day and wouldn't have a chance to get to it till the next day. I then asked if I could bring the phone back in the morning so I wouldn't have to be without my phone overnight if they weren't going to be working on it anyway, but he tells me that if I bring it back in the morning it's an additional $20 "same day charge". What?!? So - in order to get the price quoted, I had to let me phone sit in a box in their back room overnight, which was a bummer in an otherwise good experience. read more

Ridiculously fast and good. I managed to drop my Macbook Pro 13" on it's back (screen down, lid closed) from about 4 feet. My wife asked if it was ok, and I said that I'd probably cracked the glass. Guess what. I absolutely crackled the glass, and found out later that I'd wrecked the SuperDrive also. I live near Lake Tahoe, and usually go to Reno for repairs. They thought the fix would be about $300 and had to be sent out. I found an outfit on the East Coast that was about half that, but by the time I shipped it, I was looking at 10 days to 2 weeks and another $75 in shipping costs. Since I was driving to the Bay Area, I looked around and found TechRestore. I spoke with a human who was both knowledgable and pleasant. She recommended I complete the online invoice, which I did. Dropping off the computer took about 2 minutes - and I asked her to check the SuperDrive. I got a call about an hour later that the SuperDrive was broken, with a quote to replace it. When I returned home that night, I found an email that my repaired computer had been shipped. I received it today, less than 24 hours after I dropped it off. There was NO shipping charge to return the computer by UPS ground. Even though it was 3 hours away, since TechRestore understood how important it was to get it back to me, they made the effort (without a RUSH charge) to fix it right away. Thank you, TechRestore.
