Techpro replaced my gas furnace water heater with a heat pump water heater. I was *very* happy with the service. Everyone that I interacted with were friendly and professional. Most of my questions were answered within an hour. The installation was delayed a few times due to issues in acquiring the water heater. Even though Techpro was not responsible for the delays, they went above and beyond to try to finish the project by the end of 2025 so I can qualify for the tax rebate. TechPro Builders handled three separate projects and did an outstanding job with each one. These involved replacing our natural gas space heating system with an electric heat pump heating and air conditioning system and replacing two natural gas water heaters with electric heat pump units. From start to finish, everything was seamless. Danielle handled all the communication and kept me up to date on scheduling, billing, and various state and local rebates. The crews for the projects did a super professional job. The installations were very cleanly done and the premises were left in pristine condition. In an industry where there seems to be a lot of "less than above board and honest" service providers, Techpro stands head and shoulder above the rest. We had an older air conditioner that would just stop cooling and needed to be assessed. We had two other providers come out, each one gave us a different problem statement and each told us that the other problem was fine and theirs was the actual issue. TechPro came out and gave us the most reasonable and straightforward root cause assessment; and provided alternatives. They didn't just push too hard for the new unit which we appreciated. We've also had them come out one other time since to assess if we needed to upgrade and clean our ducts and they gave us an honest answer that the work would not be worth the cost and that we should just wait until the end of the useful life of the unit we have. They didn't even charge us for that house visit which again is just above and beyond in this industry. Armen and TechPro is our number one go to for HVAC at this point and we would use them again in the future, especially when it comes time to finally replace our existing unit. I replaced my old gas heater with heat pump and *highly* recommend Techpro. + They were far more knowledgeable about the local city permit department than the 3 other contractors I got bids from and were able to successfully put the outdoor unit in a location the other contractors were not willing to try. + Excellent and prompt office communication w/ Danielle. Made it super easy to apply for the various loans/discounts available, which is a bit tricky (there is a particular order you have to do things in, etc). + Excellent post-install service; they promised to take care of/touch up a few things and did so, and followed up a few months later to make sure the system was running well. + Thoughtful planning and fair pricing. Their proposal was much better than the other quotes I received - the other guys were just going to replace my gas heater in the garage with the air handler as-is, but Techpro recommending moving it to the attic and replacing the ducting and using a smaller ton unit for an overall similar price. This turned out to be an excellent call and the system is working great. Really the only negative from an otherwise perfect experience - there was sloppy paint on the condensation pipe cover and caulking around the exterior power unit attached to the wall. read more

We are installing a heat pump in our Campbell house, to replace a conventional furnace/AC installed in 1997. We ultimately decided to use another vendor, but this review is for the estimating portion of the job. Since they did not actually perform any work, I could not give a five-star review, but, between us, our interaction with TechPro rates all five stars. We contacted TechPro based on word-of-mouth from a friend, who used them to install her heat pump. Although Campbell is outside their usual service area (they are in San Carlos), they arranged to come down and perform an estimate. Armen arrived within the specified time window, did a thorough analysis of the property, and provided a detailed estimate of the work and equipment needed. There is asbestos in the old system; this would require a qualified handler to remove it. A permit and HERS inspection is required; he included those costs. There are promotional discounts, as well as a Federal tax credit; he included these on his estimate. He visited the site on a Monday, and the estimate was ready the following day. Based on our limited interaction with TechPro Heating & Cooling, I would recommend them. read more

Starting with our meeting with Armen, the Techpro estimator, we appreciated the no-BS assessment of what we needed and Armen's patience with our questions. The bid was very detailed, which was great for our fussy HOA Architectural Review. Another big selling point for us was that Techpro offered to wall mount the Condenser - a much better idea than putting it on a ground pad like everyone else. (No one else mentioned such an option.) Techpro handled all the paperwork for permits, rebates, and the interest-free PG&E loan. They also did all the electrical work, including adding fuses in the electrical panel. Some other vendors said we would need to make a separate arrangement with an electrician, which was an instant turnoff for us. The Techpro team provided outstanding service from start to finish. We replaced our gas furnace with a 2-zone heat pump system. They performed a very in-depth walkthrough of our house during the on-site visit for the initial estimate to examine what kind of setup would be best. The setup for the initial quote seemed quite advanced coming from a basic ducted furnace, but probably would have provided the most comfort. We weren't too familiar with all the different components in such a setup, so we had additional discussions to try to better understand everything. Armen then offered to come do another on-site and actually proposed a different and simpler setup which still met our requirements. Armen was very patient with us during our discussions and answered all our questions and made sure we were satisfied and comfortable with the proposal before we signed. We didn't feel pressured at all. It was relatively quick to schedule the install date. The entire job took 5 days. All the technicians who came were very professional and respectful. They did a great job with the installation. When it came to the last day, which was a Friday, they were actually behind schedule, and called on reinforcements to come help. As they came close to the evening, they still weren't finished and thought about finishing the following Monday. However, they didn't want us to be without heat over the weekend, and they actually stayed late to make sure the system was up and running. Major props to the team for this sort of customer service. The next week, the technician, Park, came back to do a follow-up inspection to make sure everything was still fine and made sure I had no outstanding questions. He did a few touch-ups like making the mounted condenser more secured and covering screws with some anti-rust compound. I really appreciated the thoroughness. When it came to the city inspection, the inspector noted a few minor things. These actually didn't affect the performance of the system, but they were necessary due to newer city building codes. The Techpro team quickly scheduled a follow-up visit to perform all the necessary work to pass inspection. It took less than a day for them to do the work. Even the office staff was great. I had hired techpro to add a separate thermostat and heating system for 1st floor as the temperature varies about 5-7 degrees throughout the seasons. Armen gave a very competitive quote - they were not the cheapest. Armen was also very thoughtful in the design recommendations, where to place the vent , etc. Because of their reviews and I really liked Armen's approach , I went with techpro. They did a great job getting the separation done. Before they left, I simply asked them about my non- functional electric air filter system - it was broken since I brought it and I had multiple ppl trying to fix it. The team took it on and did 3 round trips maybe 16 hours of work including ordering parts for me using warranty. It turns out that it was on the whole time! We just didn't see the light go on. Park is why I am happy with my choice and would use Techpro again. My setup isn't easy, HVAC is in a crawl space, the diagnose and repair of the problem required Park to got in and out between the HAVC and the thermostat at several times. within an hour he found the short circuit and fixed it, as well as gave me an overview of the system and potential issues we may address in the future, I trust his knowledge and explanations. Why not 5 start? one issue to know, not a deal breaker but I feel deserve deduction of one star: Lack of transparency in pricing. I was told the following: "The appointment will be charged at our diagnostic rate of $75/hr. Our technician will perform the repair if possible within the same visit, but if an additional part, refrigerant, time, or visit is required then he will provide a repair quote." That is it. wouldn't you assume that if they fix it within that hour, you will pay $75 (+ cost of parts)? ended up being told the cost of the repair is $299 (1 hour). I am not even complaining on the rate, I just feel it was either 1/ Bad communication (not great) 2/ Intentional bait and switch I like to assume good intentions so I will go with #1. hence -1 start and not 1 star :-) read more
