Joe Mays Towing came to my home in the middle of the night and towed my car from the parking lot without cause. I've parked in the same spot every single day for the past two years with no issues. I got home from work around 8 PM, parked as usual, and when I went outside at 8 AM to leave for work, my car was gone. They towed my vehicle 10 miles away and then charged me $300 to get my own car back. The person who claimed to be the manager was extremely rude during the entire interaction. He told me my car was towed because my permit "wasn't shown," even though it absolutely was. He also admitted they towed another car because the permit was "hidden," which tells me they are not even properly checking for permits before towing people's vehicles. When I questioned their pricing, he said that if I needed a tow from the side of the road it would be a "different rate," but refused to tell me what that rate even is. Completely sketchy and suspicious behavior. The fact that they can't or won't provide the standard roadside tow rate raises more concerns about the legitimacy of the $300 charge. I also asked for an itemized receipt and proof that my permit supposedly "wasn't there," and they refused to provide either. That alone says everything about how they operate. This was completely unnecessary, stressful, and expensive--especially when my permit was visible the whole time. The owner, Mike is very polite. However, the manager was extremely rude and he needs to learn proper communication. The manager was asking me to pay for some parts which was not the problem initially. I ended up getting the proper diagnosis at the dealership and eventually repaired my car somewhere else. read more

about 10 months ago, this company broke the side of my range rover's door. the person who did so lied and said it was because of the weather, but range rover themselves- along with 2 other experts who have looked at my car since- have confirmed he just handled my car incorrectly, and broke it. when this happened the worker told me the company would fix it free of charge, and told me to text/call his manager. upon doing so, the manager told me that he just ordered the part to fix my car, and that it would reliever the following week. he said that after that, we could set an appointment to fix it. he ghosted me for almost 6 months. no response to multiple texts or calls. i reside in georgia, and was going back for the summer- so i showed up in hopes to get my car fixed. when i got there, as a young teenage girl, i was in a room that blocked out cell service- unable to make any calls, text, or connect to the internet. there were multiple men there, giving me dirty looks. the manager lied straight to my face and told me the part needed to fix my door has been on back order so they did not have the part and couldn't fix my car. he offered to give me $100 for the part, and $50 for the labor, claiming that's what any auto shop or dealership would charge me to fix that. wanting to leave this incredibly unsafe and weird situation i took the check and left, and went back home to georgia. of course- no car place in the nation would fix my car door for $150. every place i went to quoted me $1,000+ to fix the side of my door. when i came back up to pennsylvania, i had my dad reach out (since it's very obvious they don't respect women and like to scam young girls) in hopes they would do the honorable thing and fix my car. since they had given me $150- which didn't even cover the part- i was happy to pay for the part anyway, and just asked for it to be installed. since that's what they promised in the first place. they refused to do so, or to help in any way, shape, or form. i highly don't recommend going here, unless you like having parts on your car broken, being ghosted, and scammed! read more

I blew a tire and needed same day service to have all four tires replaced. Joe May's agreed to do it. Took my car in 1130 im the morning amd dropped it off. Called them later that day to check on my vehicle amd they said they were done. Got to the shop ten minutes later and a half hour before their posted closing time and the shop was closed. Called the number on the sign and the person who answered said he was three hours out and he couldn't help me. Had to get a hotel for the night. Got there the next morning and they gave me 20 percent off my bill for the trouble. Paid the bill and left only to have the front wheel nearly come off because they didn't tighten the lug nuts. Had to have them come out and remount the wheels on the side of the road. Worst experience ever from an auto shop. They don't take their work seriously and put customer's lives at risk with shoddy workmanship and customer service. Please, take you car somewhere else. read more

I was passing thru from Bath, Maine, headed to Newport News, VA to start a new job. My truck just died and would not crank. I tried to fix it myself by swapping relays around, spraying starter fluid in the intake, but she wouldn't fire.I talked to Joe May's and they sent a wrecker to my location, picked up my truck, had the problem diagnosed within a couple hours. The guys at Joe May's had the Crank Shaft Position Sensor delivered to their shop and I was back on the road by 2 pm of that same day! And only one day late for starting my new job. Anyone else would have taken a few days and delayed me getting to my job by one week, which would have been a deal breaker. It's so hard to find honest mechanics that do excellent work. The alternator on my Jeep decided to give out after 13 years while I was driving from NYC to Columbus, OH. I searched on my GPS for the closest auto repair shop and headed straight here. It was December 31st. at around 7am and I was hoping for a miracle that this place would be open and be able to get me a part on a day when most places are closed. I pulled into their lot with the last of my battery strength just as the place was opening up. They were able to get the part and fix my car in less than 2 hours. I am extremely happy. I would definitely go there again for auto repair if my car somehow broke down again near there. They also gave me a huge discount. I am extremely grateful. A+++++++++++++++ Service. read more

We were camping right across the street this past weekend and were on our way to take the kids to Hershey Park for the day. Our car overheated on 81 and wouldnt restart. They towed us back to the shop and a few mechanics showed up to diagnose the damages (radiator cracked). They made our car their priorty Monday morning and we were on the road by 3 pm. I wish these guys were closer to home because I'd use them to service all of our vehicles. GREAT mechanics and we didn't pay and arm and a leg to have the car running again! read more
