I found this company when I was looking for a specific TV through the Rakuten app. I decided to purchase the open box option of the tv that I was looking for from Tech For Less, as it is was offering the tv for roughly $200 less than the next closest competitor. The shipping was free and pretty fast, as the TV was ready for delivery within 6 days of my order date. My TV was delivered on the 7th day due to some issues experienced by the freight company tasked with the delivery. On the day of delivery, I unboxed the tv and everything looked great. There were no scratches or blemishes on the frame of the tv, and all of the original packaging and components were present. Unfortunately, once I unboxed everything and plugged the tv in, I realized that the freight company had damaged the screen in transit. I was initially pretty bummed, as I had been looking forward to my new TV. I immediately called the customer service number and was connected to a rep without having to wait. She asked me to take pictures of the damage and the packaging so that they could submit a claim to the freight company. I did so and within a day, Tech For Less issued my refund to PayPal. Even better, I don't have to hassle with shipping the damaged television back to Tech For Less. Overall, I was impressed with the speed at which this company handled my claim, and how painless the entire process was. The customer rep was prompt in her responses and worked swiftly to resolve the matter. Also, aside from the damage caused by the freight company, the tv that I received from Tech For Less was in impeccable condition. If the model that I wanted hadn't sold out in the mean time, I would not hesitate to reorder from them. I will definitely use this company again in the future for my tech needs. Extremely satisfied with my experience. Purchased a large Samsung 4K TV and got a big discount because it was a open box, even though the TV was brand new. Got the TV and 3 years of warranty for less than what Best Buy wanted for just the TV. Plus I didn''t have to pay for sales tax. Below is my original review. I TAKE IT ALL BACK!. My laptop died and I needed a replacement fast. I ordered a new one and was pleased when it arrived a day early. I ordered a "new-open box" but what I received is clearly a used item. Desperate for a working computer I notified TFL of their error and that i needed to go ahead and start using the laptop and would rely on them "doing the right thing" and make an adjustment to the cost of the item. To my disbelief they said they would not adjust the price! I could accept it as is or return it for a refund. Returning it would have meant unloading all the software, cleaning the drive, and not having a computer to use. I am keeping the unit but will never consider purchasing from Tech for Less again. Please be aware of how they describe their process: "Unless the unit is sold under the factory refurbished category, all testing and refurbishing is done in house. However this unit had no problems in testing and was sent open box by our production team". So, NEW really only means it's not refurbished? That's unacceptable. I am looking at a replacement for another computer but I will NOT be considering Tech For Less for any future purchases. I originally gave 5 stars but I'm taking away 3 for trust issues. The girl that answered the phone was a real **** and said I had to open a file first wwith my purchase number on my Tech for less receipt before a Tech could help me, Got file open, Transfered me to Tech, he tried to help me but the less than helpful phone girl didn't send the file back to him so he couldn't help???What..I thought that is why they needed my purchase number to open the file so the tech could help. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE The wii system never worked, the user manuel was from PS3. I send 2 emails without answer (10 days). then I called and wait 10 more days the return label which never came. Then I called again and finally recieved the label. I returned the product and asked for remplacement or refund ten days ago. They recieved the wii two days ago, but I call today I still have to wait 10 business days after they enter the return in their system but they do not know when they will do it. So it is a little bit long for the kids to have their chistmas présent... hope to have a refund before next Christmas. Very, very shady outfit. My girlfriend bought me a camera that was listed "as new". When it arrived the box was beat up, the charging/sync cable was missing, there were scratches on the camera body and it had obviously been used quite a bit. She contacted them about this and the only response (after 3 days) was to offer a $5 credit to go and purchase a replacement cable ourselves (which costs $15 from B&H). The most worrying thing, though, was that the serial number sticker had been removed from the camera and the serial number on the box had also been obliterated (by putting another sticker over it and then tearing it off). This means I can't register the camera for the warranty and I'm basically on my own. So as long as you are OK getting used equipment (even when sold as new or "refurbished") that cannot be registered for a warranty with a manufacturer, and may come with vital parts missing, go ahead and buy from these guys. Otherwise, stick to a retailer that sources their stock more reputably - who knows where this came from? read more

Not recommended! It was a decent store in times past, but is no longer. I purchased a very high-end printer from them. Because of its weight, I needed to go down to the loading dock to have it loaded into my rig. With the dock door opened, I witnessed an employee dragging in across the warehouse floor instead of using a dolly or other equipment. He also complained about his duties to me - a customer. When I returned home, there was all kinds of liquid leaking into my vehicle. I did not unload the item after returning home. Instead, I did return it for a full refund, but there was no response to the loader's demeanor or the damage caused to my rig. I have also purchased small items from them that were not in working condition, although advertsied as new. This company has gone downhill, and I will never buy from them again. If you search on its publicly available history, you can see where they were purchased by a private-equity firm a few years ago; and that compamy did quite well to run the business for a time. In April 2009, the P-E firm hired a Harvard grad with unstable experience to run the business, and he ran it into the ground. In December 2009, under his lead, the business was sold to Moduslink (ticker MLNK) for $30 million with an additional contingent buy-out of $10 million. He continued to run the business into the ground. MLNK had to write off most of the business's purchase price. Finally, that CEO was fired in January 2011. Now it is run by god-knows-who as it has continued to decline with questionable products, poor customer service, and massive lay-offs in addition to major management turnover. They also do not adequately protect consumer information (such as credit card data). If one needs to call customer serivce or sales, a person is on hold forever and often eventually gives up. The company sells it wares on the internet (globally) in addition to its fithly and smelly outlet store - yet they only keep phone hours open for their time-zone. (The majority of its sales are over the internet -- on their site and mostly on third-party sites). The company is also dubious in its warranties. If you purchase an extended warranty, it is outsourced to a disreputable company that does not come through. (Yet the company doesn't explain this -- and often doesn't even mention that extended warranties are oustourced). If you want discounted electronic products (whether new, open-box, refurbished, scratch-and-dent, etc.), there are many other vendors to chose from who will satisfy. read more

I purchased an open box Brothers printer MFC9440cn in 2010, when it came in it did not work, someone came to look at it and couldnt repair it, so the company sent me a new one. then problems started happening again. I filed a warranty claim with brothers, but they told me that my warranty expired 3 years ago. I bought a printer that was made in 2007. I had an extended 3 year warranty. Called the company and they want me to ship it to New York for repair and now I have to be without it for about a month, which I cant do. A local brothers dealer says to repair would run about $200 and would be cheaper to buy another unit. That is exactly what i am doing today. Bottom Line, I got ripped off and now I am going to throw away a machine that I have had for only 14 months. What a shame and what a waste of time and money. Never again. Summary: misleading web page, shipped defective product, company does not respond to requests for cure/reimbursement. I ordered a phone for my daughter. The website suggests the company sells new and refurbished items. I do not recall at any time seeing "Used". Upon finalization of the order it showed up as used. Once we received it about a week later we discovered the phone - which looked REALLY used - failed to charge. If we had known the physical condition of the phone for the price we paid, I would have opted to buy one at a yard sale and could have been better off. To eliminate the possibility of a failed battery, and as we had a remaining battery from the identical model phone we had replaced, we gave that a try. That battery would not charge in the phone either and it had worked with the old phone. On August 17th I sent an e-mail. No reply. On August 21-st I sent another e-mail this time through their web site and received the following notice: Tech for Less strives for customer satisfaction. Due to the time of the year our responses are taking longer than usual, but we will reply to your email within 4 business days. While this in itself is absurd (if you can't handle the returns, don't get into the sales) I waited patiently. No response by even Saturday the 25th. I sent another e-mail on 8/25 that I would not hesitate to report this failed service and pursue recovery of the purchase price and any direct and indirect expenses if not resolved by end of day today. I had the worst ever online purchasing experience with Tech For Less. I bought a refurbished Philip 4K monitor in late September. First, when it arrived, the base wasn't attached to the back of the screen as described in the product manual; second, there simply wasn't any product manual or CD in the package. Then the monitor started to have the annoying issue of displaying the warning/control message to the screen intermittently after being in use for only a few weeks. Then after two months it completely stopped working. I submitted a online service request but got no response for two weeks and when I called them, the only thing I got is a useless Manufacturer phone number which got me no where except waisting my time. I ended up losing more than $200 and a lot of frustrating nights on this purchase. Their customer service is useless. Unfortunately I'm not able to give this rating zero stars or I would. I bought a new Sony Bravia LCD in August of 2009. Less than 5 years later the screen is already starting to die out. I called the company and they said they only warranty one year, and they've been bought out by another company anyway. I wouldn't even buy from the new company either. You'd be better off buying from the Manufacturer or a known store by paying a couple hundred dollars more and receive an extra 10 years life on your product. read more
