My Purchasing Experience with Detroit Iron…read more I have purchased many ATVs and motorcycles over the years, and my experience with Detroit Iron was by far the worst. I initially called about a brand-new 2024 Kawasaki KRX they had advertised. I confirmed with John Hunter in sales that the unit was new, in good condition, available, and asked for confirmation of the out-the-door price. I explained that I lived 180 miles away and needed to know if there were any issues before making the trip. This conversation took place on a Friday, and I told him I would be there the following Tuesday. When I arrived, the KRX was parked by the road and was extremely filthy--so dirty that I wouldn't even sit in it. At that point I should have walked away, but after driving 180 miles I stayed. John took it across the street to a car wash. Once it returned, I inspected it more closely and found tarnished engine components, rusty fasteners, and engine oil that looked milky. I told John I was disappointed and planned to pass on the machine due to its condition. He then asked if I would consider buying it at a lower price. Against my better judgment, I agreed, including the purchase of an additional one-year warranty--another mistake. On the second day of ownership, the machine would not start. I contacted John and was told I would need to bring it back. Between dropping it off and picking it up, I drove 720 miles, and when I asked if Detroit Iron would help with transportation, I was told no. After five weeks, I ultimately had the machine repaired locally. It required a starter and relay replacement, with the issue traced to corrosion, which I strongly believe resulted from the unit being stored next to a busy road before purchase. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience, and I would not recommend Detroit Iron based on the condition of the unit sold and the lack of support afterward.

Service rep Ian, owner Steve were excellent. Earlier in April, I purchased the same bike via sales rep Mark whom I will once again likely buy another bike from, soon. Top notch dealership experience overall.

BR said "we can do that , easy job" That was Nov. 18 2024. As of now Jan 18 2025, nothing. At one point said he had issues non automotive. and said he will get them done. My gut feeling is I will never see them. I am out $200. After spending $10,000 on a motor. My advice is I will never get my rocker stands back. I feel sorry for the guy who has head problems. He should see a shrink. I would never do to him what he does to people. I could go on , but nuff said.

He initially told me he was having some supply issues and recommended he refunded my money to which I agreed. 2 weeks later I still hadn't received the refund, so I contacted him and was told he was getting a batch of heads soon which got my hopes up. After that it was almost impossible to get hold of him and when I did it was excuse after another. One email he actually asked, "If I was interested in a set of heads". That tells me they are in production and about ready to ship. Yet again crickets for a very long time. I tried sending him messages in every possible way I could think including email, text, calling (voicemail full every time), facebook, ebay message. I did finally receive a refund after I bashed his name on his Facebook page. Happy to have gotten my money back but that is 3 damn years I couldn't enjoy my car!
