And I do believe it's the best gym around. During open gym hours - gym is closed 60-70% of the time which is incredibly frustrating since some people want to put in that extra work to really get better; plus paying them $180/month so I try to maximize my use of the gym itself. Not sure if it's a staffing issue but I probably have been turned away 50+ times thus far, quite frankly, it sucks. Can't have open gym hours if you're not open. There are a few kids that go there whose parents are also members that seem to get extreme favoritism - unfortunately I gave this dojo a fair shot and almost canceled it three times-- however, my son really loved a couple of the coaches so I kept hoping the culture would get better -- unfortunately, it did not. Most recently I asked if my son could attend the teen and adult kickboxing classes. He told me that it was only for teens and adults, after my son went a couple times. My son is 11 years old and he was enjoying the kickboxing classes a lot. after a few months I called Josh again and asked him if he could rejoin and Josh said he can rejoin if he doesn't 'have any more tantrums or is disruptive in the class'. However, I was there each time he was in the class as well as my friend Lisa and we never saw any tantrums or disruptions -- what we did see was a lot of questions because they were new to kickboxing, Enzo went there with one of his friends to learn about kickboxing and to participate, and they really loved it. After they were kicked out of the class, I didn't want to make a big deal about it, however I asked again if he could rejoin it, and he said he was too disruptive and throwing tantrums, which was a blatant lie. That was the final straw for me. All my communication has come From Josh , no one else. I also found out that stripes, which are progress awards, are only given to the k kids who attend on 'Gi' days, after attending that dojo for 3 years no one took the opportunity to convey that information to me after i inquired how stripes were given out. Again, all this was with my 1-1 communication with the manager - Josh. Apparently the owners are not involved at all and live in Idaho??? So trying to reach out to other management has been impossible. I'd appreciate any recommendations for a local Brazilian Juijitsu dojo - thx

He believes it's OK to whisper in an 11 year old's ear "quit f#@*ing around" and "if you do that again I'm going to slap the s#!% out of you". This man should not be working around kids. When I confronted him he said," yeah I guess my mouth gets me in trouble sometimes. Thanks." Maybe some parents are OK with that. I'm not. We went to Mineiro BJJ in Alamo and wish we'd have found it sooner. Thanks Coach Marty and Coach Ripper for investing in our son, we'll miss you guys.

But Coach Alex is simply fantastic with kids and instructing them in the most positive way. I was a little concerned about the potential injuries and chokeholds in BJj, but the coaches are so good at watching the kids closely and making sure kids stay safe. There are several assistant coaches that vary depending on be day, and all are excellent and promote learning, safety and positivity. The dojo is spacious and clean. I honestly can't say enough good things. There are classes for the whole age range of kids and adults. I never thought my girls would do BJJ and I have to say, it's been a great experience--my kids used to get nervous going, bc again, physically grappling with another kid was an alien concept to them, but now they are pretty comfortable and I can see how empowered they feel after each class. Their stamina and physical fitness are much improved--they used to complain about PE in school but now, they have no problems running the laps, doing pushups, etc. If you are a parent looking for a new activity for your kid that will help with not only their physical wellness but also really promote feeling confident and empowered, Warriors BJJ under Coach Alex is a fantastic option, great for both girls as well as boys!

They truly take their time with the kids and strike the perfect balance between being kind, encouraging, and maintaining the discipline that martial arts requires. The structure they create teaches the kids respect, focus, and accountability, while still making the classes fun and engaging. One thing I really appreciate is how they foster a team environment in what is technically an individual sport. The kids learn to support each other, celebrate each other's progress, and grow together. That's something really special. The facility itself is also very nice and always clean, which makes it even more enjoyable for our family to spend time there. A heartfelt thank you to Coach Matt and Coach T.G. for the time, patience, and passion you bring to the kids every day. We truly appreciate you and everything you do. Highly recommend CSA Gym.

The classes feel like studio classes (like barre or spin, etc.) that you'd be paying almost $200/month for without any amenities or regular gym equipment. I've been to other gyms in the past that had a lot of hm, lets just call it people watching and social hour. Folks here are definitely here to workout, do their own thing and friendly. Definitely a no judgement zone. I also had some hesitations based on other reviews about not being able to freeze or cancel membership within the first year especially if you have an injury and what not but decided to go for it anyway despite that, more on that later. Some other other gyms didn't seem to be any better based on those reviews so it probably would've been similar issues elsewhere anyway. When you initial sign up, they give you some comp sessions with a trainer (to obviously sell you personal training) but it's something I wanted to try anyway. I thought, why not, let's give it a go for a few months since I thought it would be good to get an extra boost and back into a routine. Well, a few months had passed and then I had some travel plans so I was away from the gym but then came back from my travels with a severe knee injury where I could barely walk. It sucked but I showed up anyway. Not because I couldn't cancel my membership due to the contract terms but because I needed movement for rehab. I was initially hesitant about returning to training because I felt like I wouldn't be training at 100%. And let's be real, the training sessions aren't cheap. After some discussion with physical therapist for a rehab plan, I decided to return to training with Summer and it was honestly one of the best decisions I've made. Summer programed exercises for me to supplement my PT. She has been really awesome to work with, because my program needed a lot of re-working along the way to adapt to my rehab progress. She's also open to feedback and really great with listening to my input on things that I want to work on. While I am still ways away from being 100% recovered from my knee injury, I already feel like it's night and day compared to just a few months ago. So why only 4 stars? Well, only taking one off is quite generous despite some issues with their app, specifically for training and the so-so amenities in the locker room. The app isn't the best and there were some miscommunications with it that led to a lot of frustration but the training manager Matt was really nice and made it right. The other reason for taking off the star was the amenities which they finally changed to something that smells way better. The previous products didn't smell good and it seemed like the shampoo, body wash, and face cleanser seemed like it was all the same soap in the shower. Didn't feel like there is anything different between the stuff in the bottles. It wouldn't even upset me that there was just one multipurpose wash but the same soap in the different bottles is just confusing for me. Like what's the point? Anyway, good riddance with the old stuff. I haven't tried the new stuff yet aside from the lotion that smells heavenly. I haven't been to the other locations to compare but this one is sufficient for my needs.
