    border collie puppy

So. You're considering a top quality Border Collie puppy. When I scoured the internet hoping to find the perfect match, the perfect breeder to check all my boxes, I was completely blown away by the details, the photos, the love, & the care that Viki puts into her business. Team Reeves Ranch is the way to go, don't go any other way!! From the very beginning, Viki was so welcoming & informative. She paid close attention to why I was in the market for a puppy; I was looking to train a Diabetic Service Dog for myself. Viki went above and beyond, she offered a puppy who matched everything I was looking for and needed, to achieve my dreams!! I really felt Viki had my interest at heart despite the craziness of handling puppies. Given I was looking for such specific traits, Viki's ranch easily surpassed other breeders. All vet records, microchip information, and doggie family history were included in our adorable go-home bag. Our puppy was even already partially crate trained & socialized! No matter the question or concern, Viki was/is quick to offer insight or advice. And even if she wasn't, her website was more than informative enough!! My little Cirilla is already on track for greatness--I truly cannot thank the entire Team Reeves Ranch enough for the spectacular job they do raising puppies.

Got our little guy just a few days ago and simply can't say enough good things about Viki and the whole process! Firstly our pup is confident, sweet, and gets along beautifully with our older dog. It's so apparent that Viki put in so much love and care into our little man and we're so grateful! Secondly the process was SO much better than any other breeder we spoke with. She was super communicative and kept us in the loop from birth to picking him up. And lastly Viki uses puppy culture (which any responsible breeder should) and it totally shows, our little guy wasn't afraid of stairs/people/floor textures/etc which makes our lives so much easier getting our pup off to a good start! I'd highly recommend Team Reeves puppies!!

In the car out for a ride.

First and foremost, I want to thank Viki for our two incredible, loving puppies. We had just lost our amazing girl, Piper, when I started browsing border collie breeders. I did not think I was ready, nor was I actively searching when we found Viki. My top priorities for a breeder included someone that was caring, dependable and respectable. After several weeks and lots of research I found Team Reeve's Ranch . Clients that had adopted puppies had exceptional recommendations for this lady and her Ranch. After agonizing for weeks, I finally decided to complete the application process and contact Viki. Speaking to her put me at ease and really got me excited. She explained the application process, the videos that she would be posting and all the updates I would be able to see during the waitlist process. I was then placed on a waitlist and wait for my turn to pick a puppy. During my waiting, I was able to see all the puppy progress videos, read, and learn what would be required of me and our family as an owner of a Border Collie. I've long been a border collie parent and we've had two over the last 20 years, but even I learned more information about the breed and puppy rearing. My daughter fell in love with Viki's puppies and ended up adopting one for herself as well. As a result, we welcomed Reilly Quinn (merle) and Bubba Napoleon (red/white) to our family in June. Viki's puppies are the most loving little balls of fur with a wonderful disposition and very adaptable personality. Both are even-tempered, loving, and mischievous. They are good with hairdryers, vacuums, weather, riding in the car and people. They are both in perfect health and are the stars of the show wherever they go. I can't express how happy we are. I truly and fully recommend this wonderful lady. She loves what she does and it truly shows. Viki puts so much work into the first 8 weeks of life for each and every puppy, knowing that she will need to give them up to a new family. We're in love with our pups and beyond thrilled with our choice to adopt them from Viki. She breeds responsibly and with love. Thank you, Viki! JannieC

In early March 2023 I lost my beloved Monte (an almost 18 year old Rat Terrier) and it was only a few days before I knew I had to look into getting another dog. I had researched Border Collies and had always wanted one but I was weary because I am a teacher. After posing some questions to Border Collie groups on Facebook the advice was "you can definitely handle one but try to get a 'low drive' one"... so I began a search and found Team Reeves Ranch. I was a little concerned with the distance (they are in California and I am in Upstate NY) but I went ahead and filled out the application at like 2am on a Sunday....thinking I would maybe get approved and have a puppy to start the summer. Viki contacted me around 11am that same day and had a puppy born that Friday before that fit my "dream puppy". That, coupled with a bunch of "signs" made me pull the trigger on a beautiful dilute blue girl from the Mirror and Panda March 2023 litter. Along the way Viki answered every question I asked (even some asinine ones) and the updates they provide made me feel connected to my puppy throughout the eight week wait. Seeing all the stuff they do to prepare the puppies for successful lives made me feel more at ease, and it has shown in how well she had adapted. The prep they do and the prep they ask of you makes a WORLD of difference. In early May my puppy (MinnySota Phoenix) came home via flight nanny. We unfortunately had an issue with the flight nanny but Viki, who had nothing to do with the issue, was there to support/help and more than made up for it. Since Minny has come home she has added endless joy to my world. From the get go she was bright, well mannered, well adjusted and a hit with all she met. I planned ahead and had a set of five individual Puppy Training sessions set up.After the first one the trainer said "your puppy is already where most puppies are trying to get to with the five sessions" and I think that is one of the biggest testaments to what Team Reeves Ranch puppy is--well prepared. As a side note, the trainer also had been working with a couple other border collie puppies and when I mentioned how Minny was supposed to be "low drive" she said "oh you can definitely tell she is mellower than other border collies".... and shes absolutely gorgeous! So my review of Team Reeves Ranch is 5 stars because its the max level allowed. Honestly I could not have asked for a better puppy or a better overall experience.... i would give Viki ten stars if I could!!! If you want to follow Minny on her adventures, like many other Team Reeves puppies, shes on instagram @MinnySotaPhoenix Best Wishes!

I asked him "Whose a good boy?"

We've had this little guy for almost 2 months, and he is genuinely the best behaved, and most calm puppy I've ever met, all he wants to do is lick your face and get belly rubs. He literally learned sit, lay down and "give me paw" within 2 weeks. He is too perfect and fills my life with joy and mischief.

We are so glad we decided to choose team reeves ranch to bring home a new puppy. Viki was super supportive and responsive, the communication with her wast fast and easy. The best part was when the puppy arrived, he was happy, brave and loving since the moment he met us. He came crate trained which made a breeze to put him to sleep. You can see they put a lot of work and effort on training the dog. If there was an inch on my arms without puppy bitting scratches , I will repeat with them 1000%

We bought our puppy naughty here, this is the first time in our life to raise up a puppy. The puppy is in really good health and are very active the first day back home. Viki has done great pre-training for us which is really helpful. The puppy can stay in the crate for whole night long without even one bark. Meanwhile, Viki also provide super helpful "after-sale" support on puppy training, which really helps us a lot as new puppy parents! If you love Border Collie, you can always choose Team Reeves Ranch!

    Our beautiful puppy!

Vicki was wonderful to work with. We were able to come to the ranch to pick up our puppy border collie in March. She is now 6 months old and starting her service dog training. The experience has been incredible. Vicki is always helpful with follow up and other questions.

We hit the jackpot with Team Reeves Ranch! We are over the moon with our new puppy! Her energy is truly special. She's healthy, smart, socialized, partially potty and crate trained, and so lovable and affectionate. The vet also commented on how well adjusted she is. So, if you are looking for a wonderful puppy and family member, I highly recommend TR. Viki truly goes above and beyond to give her pups the best start at life, and it shows. We received weekly updates and felt part of our puppy's life from before she was born to the final week before her take home day. Now that we finally have her, we just can't thank Team Reeves Ranch enough.

We appreciate all the hard work, dedication and love that Team Reeves puts into their dogs & puppies. From the biweekly puppy updates, pictures, videos to the abundance of information given to help raise a healthy & happy pup. The communication wonderful. Viki dedicates all of her time in providing sensory time with the pups, introducing them to other animals, proper vet care & crate training. When we picked up our puppy TR gave us a bag full goodies and a blanket for our guy. We truly appreciate all the effort, love & passion.

I just want to start of with how wonderful of a facility they have here at Team Reeves Ranch. The dogs have a large area where they have plenty of room to run their hearts out. They have an abundant amount of toys for the pups. Along with that the puppies are very well socialized you can tell the owners put a lot of time into loving and caring for these animals. I would definitely recommend a beautiful puppy from here. Our border collie is the best dog we could have ever imagined and acclimated into our family wonderfully. Will be getting him a friend in the near future from Team Reeves Ranch! 10/10 recommend!

I would absolutely recommend Team Reeves Ranch if you are looking to get a puppy! Viki and Steve communicated consistently throughout the whole process of waiting for our puppy. From joining the waitlist to the moment we held our little love in our hands, Team Reeves Ranch made it clear they genuinely care about their dogs. Also, we picked up at their ranch and got to see the safe and comfortable environment the dogs and puppies are provided with. We were fortunate to receive a puppy from them as well as a retired breeding female. It's clear that both dogs were in loving, careful hands prior to joining our family. Thanks again Viki and Steve!

I can't say enough about how happy we are with our puppy from Team Reeves Ranch! Viki is a top professional, and the whole process was fantastic from start to finish. She provided us with weekly videos, updates, and all the information we would need to raise a happy and healthy puppy. Crate training is going great, and I'm sure it helped that they got our pup started before we picked him up. He is confident, sweet, and friendly, and this definitely comes from the great start he got at TRR. They have a beautiful new puppy play area with all kinds of sensory stimulation that is so important for puppy development. They provided us with a bag full of goodies, info, and even a scent toy & blanket. We are so grateful for the amazing love and care our puppy received at TRR. I will be a repeat customer, if I ever get another puppy.

My goals were to refine her obedience, stop leash pulling, and build confidence. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. Positives * My dog did gain a little more patience and became more confident around dogs at a distance. * These improvements are appreciated, but they do not justify the cost of a full board and train program. Concerns * Breed Bias: Aiyana often commented negatively about Dobermans, saying things like "This is why I wouldn't own a Doberman." For someone advertising all-breed training, this was unprofessional and discouraging. * Ear Care: Since my puppy is still posting her ears, I asked to take her home on weekends to do it myself. Aiyana declined until week 3, when I found her ear had been wrapped so tightly it cut into the skin. On another occasion, her ear was bleeding and the glue was completely dried out. When I gave feedback, instead of handling it professionally, she became defensive and refused to continue ear posting on any other dog as if she is doing a favor. * Training Regression: Instead of improving, my dog regressed. She used to know the difference between sit and down, but came back ignoring sit and defaulting to down. Leash pulling was not addressed -- I was simply told to "use a prong collar," even though she had walked nicely without one before. * Reliance on Ecollar: I have no issue with ecollars when used properly, but this training relied almost entirely on constant pressure. Without the collar, my dog would not listen at all to her. That is not effective or sustainable training. * Shocking Statement: At one point, Aiyana even told me, "I cannot do anything if a dog acts a certain way with someone else." Hearing that from someone calling herself a professional trainer was unacceptable. * Professionalism: She frequently reminded me that she had given me a discount, as if that excused the lack of progress. Sessions were delayed and if I arrived a little late due to her schedule changes she would blame me (we also have work and things to take care of and the road time, i am 40min away from her, i also never had the problem to go back to her anytime that worked), and I never received a proper recap or hand-off at the end as after i communicated about her ears she said she is uncomfortable working with us now . Final Thoughts While there were minor improvements in patience and confidence, the main goals of obedience and leash training were not achieved. My dog returned with ear injuries, regression in commands, and unreliable training that relied entirely on tools instead of teaching. I gave her time till even after the board and train being finished to wait for our recap session because maybe just maybe something would change . Which wasn't given because i gave my concern on my dog being hurt and her material not being taken care of . I wasn't blaming her -- just asking for more attentiveness. This program did not meet the level of professionalism, communication, or results I expected from a board and train. For anyone considering training services, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere for a trainer who provides consistent progress, safe handling, and clear communication.
