The men took the job at the last minute, which I appreciated. I paid them $725 cash upfront. The first half of the day went well. When they came back from lunch, they smelled of weed. Per an earlier conversation, the owner, Terrence, had agreed to disassemble and reassemble the beds. When it was time to reassemble the beds, they told me that my initial pre-paid timeslot was finished, so I would have to pay extra $75 per man per hour. I agreed. However they lost the screws to the bed. Then they proceeded to blame everyone in the house except for themselves. They must've forgotten since they were smoking weed. When I stated that I didn't want to pay for the time that they spent looking for the screws and bolts, Terrence became very attitudinal and unprofessional with me. He actually walked away and had his partner talk to me. Then, I had a friend come over because it was just too much for me to handle. The men ended up leaving, and I actually gave them a small tip because of the fact that the first part of the day was done well. When I went upstairs, my friend and I discovered that they put together my son's bed with pieces from another bed, and it was clear as night and day that the two pieces did not belong to the same bed. This is what happens when you smoke weed on the job. Terrence, the owner, was very unprofessional, and even complained about Black folks shorting them on money. But with me that was never the case because I paid them $725 upfront, and I was never going to short them. I was jovial and respectful to them the entire day up to that point. I was simply not going to pay for time they spent looking for screws. They were dismissive, and I know that had I been a man or anyone else they would not have spoken to me with the utter disrespect that he did. I had to have other people come over and fix their mistakes. Do not hire them. You cannot trust a company in which the owner smokes weed on the lunch break. Also, despite being told several times not to put a large dresser/mirror in a tiny room, they did it anyway and did not put it in the room I requested before the left. And before they try to assassinate my character, I want to add that I am an upstanding citizen in Carlisle, I am associated with borough council, and I am a teacher. Trust and believe me when I say- had these men (more specifically, Terrence) completed the task without him being a condescending jerk, they would've been tipped very well. I did not even get a thank you for the small tip I gave them for which Terrence did not deserve. read more
