Daniel brought an assistant and they seem very nice. We had the paint (I also had the ceiling paint but Daniel said they had paint). We asked for our entryway ceiling to be painted and Daniel did the stairway as he said he wanted it to look nice. They charged us $600 (there was 1 wall needing to be painted) and the trim on the 4 others in the staircase. At first glance, not looking closely, I said thank you paid them and tip them $40 so they could have lunch. They were in and out in 2 hours. My Mom had mentioned other work needed and they said they knew how (they are hustlers!) as I walked thru my staircase the paint was dripping everywhere on the walls as they applied 2 coats quickly. There were spots ALL over where the wall was going to need multiple coats. The ceiling was done so quickly that the yellow that had gotten on the ceiling was not covered. I am not a professional painter but my work is better. This smooth talker scammed my mom who is on disability out of $600 and was targeting her for more high priced work. Look at these photos. Unfortunately I fixed the runs before I took pictures but you can see the unfinished work (all the dark showing thru). The did not tape anything off so details like my white shelf the left unfinished (probably because they knew I would do it) there was yellow on the ceiling barely covered by white. I contacted Daniel and he told me the painted need to dry. He then said he could come do the other work for my mom and touch up the paint. I declined because 1) I did not want my walls further damaged, 2) I did not want my mom's kindness taken advantage of. I asked him to return $200 (I felt $400 was more than fair for 2 hours of unprofessional work or let's call it the experience of Daniel and Crew). Its a shame that nice people are taken advantage off. I felt like because we were 2 women we were taken advantage of. I've been painting my home all summer and know that you can not just put thick paint over the wall to cover the other color. I only hired this team because I didn't have a way to get to the top. He blocked me on Facebook and now I'm out $640 I'll have to sand some of the area we're the paint was running and we gently rolled it but it made our walks look textured. Now because we don't trust anyone my 64 year old mother and myself will have to get something and climb up to a place we don't feel comfortable to fix our walls. Don't uses these guys they are over priced and they act like they are going to do quality work but really they just rush the work and run off with your money!

They have a very clear process for design and construction. It does involve a lot of meetings, but everyone there is so nice to work with, we didn't mind. They were also great about scheduling meetings at the end of the day, so that we didn't have to miss work. Their architect found a great solution to the problem of adding on to our house without spending a huge amount of money. And, we worked with an interior designer on staff who helped us pick out fixtures and tiles. All very easy! Renewal's team is experienced with the 203K streamline loan, which we used to add onto our home. It would have been difficult to deal with a contractor who was new to this type of loan product. The lady who answered the phone told me they would not give me a quote due to the fact that they only do work in the City of Decatur because of "traffic" . She said this after I gave her my zip code. I thought this was odd since I saw one of their yard signs in front of a home they are working on in Grant Park. Last time I checked, Grant Park is way outside of Decatur. West End is not as "gentrified" as Grant Park or Decatur but it is an awesome neighborhood with beautiful historic homes. I guess redlining zip codes is still a thing for some.

I encountered issues with Northside Remodeling during a basement renovation. I learned they had…read morehandled the permit application for our renovation without our knowledge or approval. They named themselves as the contractor on our permit without us contracting with them. After reaching out to the county for a copy of the application, I discovered that details were added to our form after my signature, without any notification to me. Not only was I surprised to see Northside Remodeling and Willie Middleton's name on the permit & application, I was extremely surprised to find my signature on a document I didn't fill out. This unexpected change left me feeling very uneasy, questioning the level of honesty with this business. The basement project itself was rife with issues - rough-in plumbing done incorrectly, window egress not installed to code, framing not complete or installed correctly. In Georgia, the licensed contractor on the permit is accountable and responsible for the work to be done to code. We have since had to hire a new contractor and pay additional money to fix these errors. It wasn't the smooth experience I hoped for, and I personally would want to find a company that emphasizes clear and upfront communication.

I needed to get someone to repair this fast and tried my roofing and siding companies, but they didn't do small jobs like this. I found Spectrum Home Services from a web search and saw some positive reviews, including a couple here on Yelp. I called up and left a message. Frank called me back within about 30 minutes and we discussed my problem. He said he would be able to do the job and asked for some photos so he could estimate. When I got home, I took the photos and sent them. I got a very reasonable estimate the next day and scheduled the job. I didn't have to wait too long for the job to be scheduled -- they came out within about a week. The worker who was sent out was very professional and did a very good job fixing both the outside and inside. It all looks back to normal, as though there was never a hole in the wall. He worked very efficiently and was finished within a couple of hours. Payment was very easy -- I got an invoice in the email and could pay online through Quickbooks. It's hard to find good companies who do small jobs around the house -- I definitely had a very good experience with Spectrum and would use them again. They are highly recommended. Our house was built in 1925, so I'd imagine it wasn't easy to match the plaster, but Frank did it seamlessly. Initially, the insurance was only going to pay for a partial roof replacement along with some ceiling repairs, but after Shay worked his magic, they not only agreed to reroof the whole thing, but they also agreed to redeck it as well. The roof replacement actually took place today, and I couldn't be happier with the results! First of all, Adam Chastain, who oversaw everything, is awesome at what he does. He's great at communicating and was easy to get in contact if I needed anything. Best of all, he guided his team to do top-notch work for me at every phase of the job...from the decking installation, to the drip edges on the rake edges and the eave edges, flashing around the dormers, to the actual installation of the shingles themselves, and more. Additionally, Adam had his team do a couple of things that weren't even called for in the contract like replacing the decrepit flashing around my chimney and having them seal and repair a leaky attic window that had been the source of a lot of water damage in the past. Furthermore, the crew themselves were hard working, skilled, and super friendly. I genuinely couldn't be any more pleased with my roof replacement.
