GOLFTEC Glen Allen - GolfTEC Swing Analysis

    GOLFTEC Glen Allen

I was on the fence about dropping some serious money on golf lessons, but I knew that I not only…read moreneeded lessons but also needed to follow some sort of program. Ultimately it is well worth the cost. My coach Kevin D. is great. Kevin developed a plan and we worked through a lot of different swing issues. We even did a playing lesson out on the course. I love being able to come in and practice indoors when it is cold/hot outside. I have dropped 2 points off my handicap with the 15 lessons that I took. Looking forward to dropping it some more. Overall I would 100% do it again and I plan on extending my plan out when it's time. If you decide to go this route, you need to put the practice in, if you do not you will have wasted your money. You need to take what you learned in your lesson and practice it and get ready to focus on another topic at your next lesson. Thinking of cost, it is roughly the same as going to any legit PGA level golf instructor. The difference is that you have to pay it all up front at GolfTec. But the added benefit is that you get to come in and practice, using all the technology/equipment, and you do not have to pay for range balls. Final thought, I dropped some money on new golf clubs a year prior to starting at GolfTec. I wish I had taken that money and used it on these lessons first. I would have been much further along than I am now. It's funny that people will spend a bunch of money on equipment and then complain how bad they suck at golf. But they don't want to spend the money on lessons so they can use their shine expensive golf equipment. Just go and do it.

TL;DR: has 2 courses on site; affordable prices and replay rate; Rock Harbor Grill's food is great…read more Course Overall: ~Scenic courses and maintained well ~Most tee boxes were easy to find a flat spot to tee off from ~Pro-shop is great with lots of clothes and merch ~They have plenty of carts - colors different between members and non-members ~No coolers on the carts ~Scorecard has a nice view of exactly where the pin positions are located on the greens ~Driving range not included, but affordable rate ~Have to call to schedule a tee time (not available online) ~They have two separate courses (Rock and Boulder) ~Replay rate (if you play both courses on same day) is $36 ~Each course has 5 different tees ~First starter was meh, 2nd starter was super nice, friendly, and informative ROCK COURSE (4/5): ~Follow the Red arrows (front 9) and the White arrows (back 9) ~Their fairway bunkers had sand mixed with rocks (may damage your clubs) ~Their "black sand" bunkers were a bunch of tiny rocks more so than sand ~Greenside bunkers were fine ~Caddy Shack with food and drinks available after hole 6 ~Bathroom also available after hole 6 and hole 14 ~You go back to the clubhouse at the turn ~Tees are indicated with parallelogram shaped tee markers BOULDER COURSE (4/5): ~Really challenging course with sloped greens/greensides ~Lots of elevation changes on fairway and greens ~Follow the blue and yellow arrows ~Same black sand bunkers as Rock Course ~Does not come back to the clubhouse at the turn ~Caddy shack with food and drinks and bathroom available after hole 11 and loops back after hole 16 ~Bathroom also available after hole 12 ~Tees are indicated with tiny rock/boulder shaped tee markers ROCK HARBOR GRILL (4.5/5): ~It gets busy in there with people stopping in for a quick snack/drink pick up, or people who want eat after their round ~Service is nice, but because it can get so busy and there were only 2 people working, it could take a minute ~FOOD: ~Hawk Wings (5/5): Fried nicely and sauced perfectly. So tasty ~Reuben Sandwich (5/5): Was really good. Meat was tender, Sauerkraut was not too bitter/sour. I'm usually not a fan of reubens, but this has changed me ~Rock BBQ Burger (4/5): Tasty and big portion, but really messy to eat ~Onion Rings (3.5/5): tasted good but ate very greasy. Could only eat like 2 ~Fries (5/5): battered fries. Not too heavy on the coating and not too greasy, seasoned perfectly Overall, this is a great course to visit with great views and food.

We've got frost delays and frozen greens but still manage to pay 71 dollars in the late December…read moretime. While most courses drop their prices by 20-30 dollars for off season, Rock Harbor has dropped their prices by four dollars. Two stars because I had a ball kick off of the frozen pond and land on the green. Get it together Rock.
