Not that my wife isn't a fantastic cook. Because she is. But these businesses are all working hard to try and stay afloat and I just hope and pray that they can manage to survive until people can start dining out again. So we are doing what we can and ordering from various types of restaurants. As we were researching places to try, a dear friend recommended that we check out Gregory Paul's. "Prepared meals? What is this strange beast?" I thought to myself when my wife first mentioned it. Oh, I forgot to tell you that when I think to myself I sound like I'm straight out of a Charles Dickens novel. Yeah, I'm a bit weird that way. "Methinks so as well dear friend." Shhhh. Anyway, we perused this week's menu and decided to give Gregory Paul's a try. And by try I mean that we placed an order for the hearts of palm salad, the eggplant parmesan and the pasta bolognese. We scheduled a convenient time for pick up and bam! it was done. Easy peasy. And I say that because the wife did both the ordering and the pick up. Thanks honey! Isn't she the best? You know it! Anyway, the food comes in great little containers that simply need to be heated up in the oven. As opposed to regular take out, it isn't a race home to see if it remains hot enough to eat. You do need to put these dishes in the oven. Which worked out just fine for us. It gave my wife time to do all of the other prep work before dinner. Kidding! I set the table. I'm awesome. The hearts of palm salad was delicious, filled with hearts of palm and other veggies. You know, the typical salad thing. We added some additional lettuce because there are 3 of us currently quarantining, but overall it was really good. The eggplant parm was just what you would expect from, you know, eggplant parm. Cheese, breaded eggplant and sauce. Also included? Basil. Which really added to the dish. The eggplant wasn't greasy and the breading was certainly not overpowering. The red sauce was very well done. And the amount was deceiving. Although the order states that it feeds 2, it was more than enough for 3 people. In addition we ordered the pasta bolognese. Which I loved. The meat sauce was tender and tasty. Be forewarned that it does have carrots in it. My wife would have preferred it without. I have no idea if that is how traditional Bolognese sauce is prepared (I'm lucky I even know how to type bolognese let alone know what's supposed to be in it) but overall I thought the dish was fantastic. The two dishes together (along with the salad) was way more food than 3 people should eat. I of course finished most of it. urp. At the end of the day, we really enjoyed our first experience with ordering from Gregory Paul's. And we certainly look forward to the different items that will be available on future menus. Well Oiled was one of the recommended vendors for our venue and when we were booking with them, they didn't have a website, just a phone number. We almost missed out on arguably one of the best parts of our wedding because I didn't want to have to call. Thankfully, they were serving up their creations in person and we went to check them out. From the first contact, Carrie and the team were amazing! Friendly, responsive, creative. They were serving Pastrami Pretzel Bun Sandwiches at the event we attended and when they asked for a menu, we insisted on having those. Otherwise, we were open. Well Oiled sent us an amazing menu and we agreed! Between two COVID reschedules that they worked with us on, we were able to try more of their food during their drop off meals season and my husband used them to cater a work event. The feedback we got from our guests was phenomenal. Food was excellent and everyone is still talking about the charcuterie board that they put together! She helped my husband and I build the absolute dream menu and helped us stay within budget at the same time. We truly feel like Olivia puts her customers first no matter the cost and treats us more as friends which really makes the entire process a breeze. Vendors can be difficult to deal with during the high stress wedding planning, but I have nothing, absolutely nothing negative to say about Olivia and EFS Catering. We originally hired a wedding planner with a different company, and we were quick to change over to have Olivia and her husband William orchestrate our wedding. A decision we will never regret!
