Came here since everyone was saying I must try their boba. I got one of their most popular drinks. It was the "Top Ten Pearl Milk Tea" which was earl grey based. I got 50% sweetness and found it to be a good level for me. However, I didn't think the drink was anything special. I've had tastier boba drinks. Perhaps I need to try a different drink there. We have been here 3 times. Each time food quality has become more substandard. Example rice overcooked, Taiwanese chicken not burned but overcooked and salty. The second time I ordered 4 meals and three were in package. There are 3 people working and I am pretty none have safeserve this is a law and code violation. I have been in store and never seen a manager, I believe there are 2 more and if this one is trying to cut costs to make it not to code who knows if the others are. Went there because my friend said it's the best Taiwanese style braised pork rice in the area, and of course I have to try it, I ordered the one with vegetables and I would advise to get the one without the vegetables(It was just cabbage and it's like they cooked it in vinegar or some sort--it tasted a bit sour), I was expecting it to be stir fried with garlic or just steamed. Otherwise, the pork and the egg were pretty authentic. The bubble tea was decent as well, lots of choices in terms of the flavors and toppings, also tried the savory tangyuan, it was not my favorite but kudos for them for just having the choice. I have never been to this spot before but it is so cute! The atmosphere kinda gives me college "sit down and hang" vibes. Love it! I was also surprised they served a good amount of food. I believe they were sold out of food whe n I got there but to be fair, I did get there pretty late. In terms of parking, there is ple ty and it's all free. They do share parking with other establishments but i don't see it being an issue at all. As for the staff, they were lovely and got the orders done quickly. The drink menu is massive and they have options for those who are vegan or just lactose intolerant. Got the taro milk tea with sago with 80% sugar and it is amazing. My first sip was like OMG!! Has real taro bits and it's not purple!! Most places use powder for their taro but not here. This was authentic!! You could also really taste the flavor of the tea used. You can tell this place knows how to brew their tea. They also have some authentic Taiwanese dishes as well. I wanted to order a second one but didn't want to look like a pig. I'll just have to come back another time. Finally, a place in Maryland that has real taro milk tea. I got this drink with grass jelly (+0.75, I think) and 30% sugar. 30% sugar is usually a hit or miss with me but I found it to be a bit too sweet (after drinking half of the boba, I was done). The alpine green tea is definitely unique and worth the try. Next time, I'll just go for 0% sugar, HAHA. Like other boba shops, the boba price inflation is too real. Dust came down off them and dispersed into the store. Why not do that when nobody is in the store? And surely the 2 or 3 tall males that were also working that day were a better option than the vertically challenged, ridiculously friendly female employee? I come here somewhat frequently with friends; I definitely think its one of the better bubble tea shops in ellicott city if you are into fruitier teas. I personally enjoy passion fruit, pineapple, passion fruit+mango slushies, and yogurt green tea. I recommend normally just getting 80% sugar (or 50% if you are feeling less sweet:)) and less ice (if it is not a slushy). I recently had the yogurt lemonade, which I would not recommend. Brown sugar with fresh milk drink was okay, but I would recommend teatop more for fruitier or "non-basic" drinks. We tried their Signature Alpine Green Milk Tea and Lychee Slush. Their boba was chewy and sweetened but overall felt a little mushy in texture. Lychee Slush 3/5 Lychee flavor comes out but a little artificial tasting overall. From what I remembered, I had the Passionfruit Green Tea with Less sugar, less ice and black pearls. It tasted pretty delicious with the right balance of tea taste and sugar. I personally like milk series with my boba but the Passionfruit is definitely something refreshing to drink during summer or warmer weather. Would love to come back and try other flavors and to see the decor. I haven't tried any of the food but I've heard from friends that the house chicken bun is the thing to order. So for Valentine's Day this year, I went on a date and this guy decided to make me a customized boba boutique. I'm planning to get one of those next time I visit if I'm not hungry enough for a house chicken bun. The exterior of the small place is swallowed by the much louder signs of adjacent stores in the shopping center. Compared to other bubble tea places, Tea Top seemed to have a quieter, calmer ambiance inside. The upbeat music was a reasonable volume for conversation. I visited midday on a Saturday, and it was the perfect casual study environment. The walls are very instagram worthy, and the entire place (bathroom included) is very CLEAN. Not gonna lie, I got the drink since I had Tiger Sugar recently. I expected the drink to be sweet due to the brown sugar, but not the kind of sweet where it felt like I was drinking straight up syrup. I mixed my drink with with some tea I made at home to dilute the sweetness, so I can drink it. I had their drink previously before covid happened, and it was pretty good; hence, the 3 stars rating rather than a 2. It has been on my to do list to visit a lot of the new spots that have been popping up on route 40. Today I reserved for this place. I went with the brown sugar jasmine milk and house chicken bun. Due to covid you can only call in your order or order and pay online. You enter only to be greeted by tables at the door to block entry, an employee brings receipt to sign and leave with items. Cafe looked really good inside. I will be happy when we are post covid as looks like a wonderful place to sit and read or spend a rainy day. Same for bun. I ordered spicy bun but isn't what I would call spicy. Crunch is amazing. It is a perfect small lunch option and the tea is perfect mix of tea with milk. I think I should have added more sugar but oh well. The jasmine tea provides a soft perfumed jasmine taste and the milk balances it out. He suggested that I get less ice, which I did. It was still milky and i still didn't taste the tea, and I disliked the chunks of jelly. When I got towards the end there was a big blob of jelly, I ended up throwing the rest in the trash. The last time I ordered it, there weren't chunks of jelly, the pearls and jelly were nicely chopped. The customer service is great here, I just didn't like how he told me I have to get half tea and milk. If I'm paying for bubble tea I should be able to order my tea they way I like it, like at Kung Fu Tea. The big glob of jelly looked disgusting and it was so big the straw kept getting clogged. For my first time coming here I can't say I was too impressed. I understand with Covid maybe things are a little off but I just didn't have a great drink in my opinion. I got the sun and moon lake team as a base and cheese foam with pearls as toppings. The cheese foam was a little more salty and not as sweet as I would've liked. The pearls were not too great either they felt old. And as my first time coming here I expected that maybe I would've been able to order inside. I love their system they have for Covid you need to wait outside and order ahead of time. But the big flaw is that I didn't know and it's a cold rainy day outside and I was freezing, if I had known I would've came better dressed. Maybe I didn't get a great drink to try for the first time but as a whole I didn't have a great experience my first time coming here. I might give it another shot at some point in the later future but then again I can't say I will most likely come again. Update: I couldn't do it. This doesn't taste good at all to me. I needed to throw it away. I try not to be rude about these but I really couldn't finish this. After maybe 5 sips I couldn't do it anymore. read more

Hands down, my favorite FAVORITE FAVORITEEEEE boba place in the area. First, they only have one size here - LARGE. And the prices are a steal. I'm used to paying $4.50 to 5.00 for a normal sized boba so getting a large for that price is a total turn on for me. Their milk foam is HEAVEN. Like absolute droolworthy, perfect balance of creamy, milky, savory, frothy and sweet. I love topping up a cold brewed tea with milk foam to even out the flavors and textures. Also a huge Plus for the sexy foam stache you can make if you choose to pop the lid off and sip on the foam. The tapioca boba add-ons are always Fire, super fresh, super chewy! Their milk foam oolong tea is a crowd favorite and my go to choice whenever I come here. Also. This is the first boba place I've been to where I feel like they don't dilute their actual teas and milk teas with water and ice and the first place where their drinks aren't sickeningly sweet. Basically it's a you get what you pay for place and a super honest spot to get your boba fix. The flavors and strength of their teas are on point. The aesthetics within the cafe is on point. Employees are SUPER nice and helpful. Bonus points for actually serving food here to chow down with your bubble tea if you're feeling a little famished. Also, note i think they have a $8 credit card minimum if you choose to pay in card so always opt to pay in cash when I'm here which is a little annoying. read more
