    Quantum Fiber Services

I had Internet service in Colorado, FWIW. (Not sure why I can't find any of their locations…read moresearching Yelp from the Detroit area.) I had a protracted conversation with the salesman who came to my door, who assured me at least 4 or 5 separate times that none of the equipment Quantum was giving me ever needed to be returned. I asked so many times because I didn't believe him when he said nothing had to be returned, under any circumstances. Lo and behold, when I ended my service months later, I started getting emails from Quantum about having to return their "pods". Customer service simply told me that the salesman was lying to me. So, I'll have to return the pods when I can, but in my situation, not having planned for that, that will take a few months. They'll ding me with a $200 charge for the equipment, which I can eventually get back when I return the equipment, but I'm frustrated that they weren't more forthcoming about things. They provided decent internet, but I probably wouldn't go with their service again.

I knew my brother would be moved out by the end of the month. He was paying double for a different provider so I opted to use a more cost-effective provider with an up-and-coming provider with good reviews. For the appt on 08/28/26, I was given a window of 10 am-noon for the installation. I received numerous reminders via email and text messages prior to this date until the day prior. At 11:30 am, I received an email indicating my tech was running late and will be apprised of new time of arrival. As time passed, I called QF and spoke with Apiwe at 12:30 pm - to inquire about new time of arrival for tech. I was informed then that my installation has already been canceled and re-scheduled for a different working day. I spent another 2 hours attempting to reach a live agent who can find a tech who can come the same or next day. I chatted with Sai Teja at 1:27 pm - as I was unable to reach anyone on the phone. He stated it was not possible to send another agent the same day. The internet service my brother was paying for would be canceled by the end of the month on 08/31/26. The 3rd agent I reached - indicated it was not going to be possible for a tech to come the same day. However, this agent (Shakira whom I spoke with at 1:49 pm) stated I should expect an escalation call within 24 hrs per re-scheduling the installation appt before my then-current provider's service was discontinued. Shakira informed me I will be compensated for the inconvenience I was caused on 08/28/26. I never received said escalation call that day or within 24 hrs of the incident. I merely received a text indicating my appt has been re-scheduled for 09/01/26. This is a working day and nobody can be home so I had to re-schedule for 09/07/26 as I was working virtually on this day. Additionally, I had to do without internet services for the time period of 09/01/26-09/07/26. I used the hotspot feature of my cellphone to work from home on 09/07/26. I was given the window of 10 am-noon once again. At 11:30 am, I was again informed that the tech was running late. The tech (Jackie) arrived at 1 pm and immediately informed me he was only informed about the work at my house, 5 mins prior to being ordered to complete installation at my house at 1 pm. Jackie is the ONLY positive experience I had with QF. He was professional and helpful; he answered my questions patiently. Unfortunately, QF did not work for where my house is as I frequently experienced buffering while watching my shows. Additionally, I experienced skipping as particular segments of the shows I was watching would repeat on a loop. I had to fast forward the show in order to get rid of the skipping. After 3 days of this, I decided I was going to cancel QF services. I called on 09/16/26 and spoke with Michael. I was informed I will not be refunded the $45 that was taken from my checking account as QF operates on a prepaid basis. Even after I explained the reasons I was canceling the service, Michael stated "if it was only 2-3 days after your service was connected, maybe then but since it's been 9 days since your service was connected, we cannot refund you because we have prepaid services." Even when I asked about the compensation I was promised for the inconvenience they caused on 08/28/26, Michael stated he can authorize the $25 virtual credit card compensation only after my services have been established for 6 weeks. At this point, it was clear to me that this was completely another giant waste of my time to continue the conversation. I verified with Michael that he essentially needed me to pay for another month's service in the amount of $50 (by the way, they increased the $45/month rate I secured the service for, without informing me prior to this conversation) in order for him to activate and send me the $25 compensation. I had to ask Michael in what world this conversation made sense.
