I've been a Commerce Bank customer for many, many years and absolutely LOVED their service. Then TD bought them out. Oh, TD....
The tellers are friendly, but definitely not as friendly as they used to be (new people? I don't know). Quite a few times when I have gone through the drive thru, there is always some kind of issue whether it is with me or other customers. But I can overlook all that.
However, about a week or so ago, I had to get a new debit card. After I was done, the gentleman at the desk told me to go to the ATM outside the lobby to test it, and tell him if everything was okay. So, I tried to go outside and two women at the ATM told me to use the other door.
Oookay. I'm standing outside trying to get back into use the ATM to test my card. No go. I knew it wasn't time for the bank to close, yet the door to the ATM was locked. I didn't know what was going on until I realized the women were putting money in/taking out of the ATM machine. Meanwhile, it's 18 degrees outside. There's a crowd forming around me. I'm telling people they have to use the other door to get into the bank, that they ATM machine can't be used right now, etc. Last I checked, I do not work at TD Bank. That would be the employees job, correct? Would it have been THAT difficult to get a piece of paper and a Sharpie and write "ATM currently unavailable" and tape it to the door? I guess so. They do whatever with the money, and go back inside. We waited out there for another 5 minutes for someone, ANYONE to tell us something, unlock the door, etc. After spending almost 15 minutes outside at night in 18 degree weather, I just left and went to another TD Bank to test my card, which thankfully did work.
I've contemplated leaving TD Bank for years now. Their only saving grace is their late and Sunday hours (I'm still surprised other banks have not picked up on this). I'm thinking that TD needs to give their employees a lesson in common courtesy. read more
