I was forced to close out my account with SALEM Five Bank, because of repeated attempts to get into…read moremy online banking without success. Because I was out of the country (and still am) I was unable to go into the branch and withdraw my funds and then close out the account. Salem Five wrote my a check for the remaining funds (2,000 and some change). I was told the check would be good for a total of 3 years. The check was mailed to a family member, and eventually the check was given to me where it has been in my possession for the past year. I am still living internationally, while I finish my studies. In October of 2019 my mother (who has account at same bank) visited me and volunteered to assist me, (as I'm unable to go into the branch or any branch myself) by depositing the check into her account and providing me the funds herself later on. I called Salem Five and spoke to CAMILLE INUMERABLES, I provided her with the check number, the check balance, and the original check written date. She verified information over the phone. Camille verified with manager at Salem Five Bank if was possible for me to authorize the check to be deposited into my mothers account (a separate account at the same banking institution). The managers and Camille aka SALEM FIVE BANK confirmed that YES, they would be able to assist. They required that I write a letter of authorization, and sign it, as well as sign the back of my check. I did. When my mother went in they refused to deposit it, AFTER MAKING HER SIGN THE BACK OF MY CHECK. I would like SALEM Five Bank to Deposit the money, or cash it and give it to my mother. They ruined my check by making her sign it and now they haven't deposited it or cashed it. They made me write and sign an authorization letter and they verified and confirmed they would deposit it and now they won't. I NEED MY MONEY. THEY ARE HOLDING MY MINEY WHICH DOES NOT BELONG TO THEM. These were clearly charges that I never would have made. Unbeknownst to me, they closed my account without warning and told me they will not be refunding these fraudulent charges. I would never do business with this bank again even after 20 years! I highly recommend you take your business elsewhere.

I love how they eagle watch my checking account, always on the alert for suspicious activity and immediately notifying me when there is such activity. I've used all types of financial institutions during my life time, I've never had such a comforting sense of individualized and personal customer care from any bank I've ever used. The staff at this bank just knows how to make you feel like you're part of their family. Always offering great advice on handling your personal finances and expediently delivering on everything they commit to. It's a small, privately run establishment but, like they say, big things do come in small packages. And here's a true testament to that: Just 9 days ago, I lost my pride and joy pup, Riley, to a hit and run driver. We had just gotten back from a 1/2 day in the woods playing all kinds of fun doggy games. In an instant he was taken from me. Since Riley was 9 weeks old, he use to go to The Savings Bank with me whenever I was making bank deposits. He just loved everyone there because they were all over him, spoiling him with tasty treats and lots of praises. When they all heard about Riley's demise, each and every one of them stopped what they were doing and came to me to console me with heartfelt sympathy and genuine empathy only found in the deepest of kind souls. Exactly 8 days later, I received the most beautiful sympathy card signed by the entire staff at TSB. I was in tears over how sincere this thoughtful sentiment was. I must mention the main people who make this operation the best bank in town. Starting from the top, Maria, the branch manager, who has professionally and watchfully guided me out of potentially financial devastation. She's real, she's honest, and she's down to earth. Love her! Then there's Elizabeth, the Accounts manager. The same as Maria, sincere, sweet, and genuinely concerned about the welfare and security of your account(s). I recently had the privilege of running into Elizabeth and her awesome beau at a restaurant. We all sat together and enjoyed great memories of Riley and shared many wonderful personal stories. A great bonding experience! There's a gentleman there named Matt B. This guy can light up a stadium with his warm, genuine personality. Matt is never anything but right-on with his professionalism, compliments, impeccable manners, and jovial disposition. He runs deep and, for a young guy in his early 20's, exhibits great promise for a very bright future. The teller, Despenza (hope I spelled that right!), is yet another teller who is spot on with superb customer service. Sweet, loving, and down-to-earth, just like they all are. All the other employees there always smile at me and wave from a distance. That's just how they all run, and it's awesomely warming to go there on a weekly basis. Not being a big corporate bank has a lot of merit. You might give up a few perks the big banks offer but, in return, you get the best attention to your financial needs on a very personal level, they never treat you like just a number , they work with you, not against you, and, the most important, they're always watching your back, and you can't help but notice the pride they take in doing so. I can't say enough good about them. I just hope I don't lose a one of them to another financial institution because they're so darn good at what they do. Love you guys!!!

It's very easy to transfer money into a Citi account, but trying to withdraw funds is nearly…read moreimpossible. When you call customer support, they seem unable to help. After every question I asked, the representative would put me on hold to "check on that." Moreover, when you request to speak with the supervisor or the person they consult, they deny you the opportunity. I spent almost an hour on the phone attempting to transfer money out of my Citi account into an external account that was already linked, as the website wouldn't allow it. I was previously able to transfer in, but now I can't transfer out from the same linked account. My experience with their credit cards is excellent, and quite the opposite of banking service. Banking, however, is extremely frustrating. It feels like they are eager to take your money but reluctant to return it. After an hour of trying to use the website to xfer money from the Citi account into another external account, and then over an hour on the phone, no jot. So I asked them to close the account and send a check for the full amount. They did, and now all is good. I advise against using their checking or savings accounts. Also, the fees are excessive unless you have a substantial amount, in the tens of thousands of dollars. If you ever want to access your money again without a struggle and wasting precious time, do not use Citibank.

Everyone says they are a supervisor but lie about when the money will be back in my account they initially rejected. It never made it to either account and no one can find it. They gave me the wrong ACH # and said it was up to my other bank. None of that was true. You wait hours to speak with someone, mostly from the Philippines. Don't let the interest rate lure you 8n, it's not worth the time and aggravation when they take your money and refuse to give it back. They treat you rudely and are entirely unprofessional. I cant even believe they still exist given how they treat their customers. Horrendous.
