Thank goodness for this local retailer - I have tried the big box stores as well as Amazon for many many things . But toys are different - how do you really know if it's a winner ? So hats off to Learning Express - sales people are exceptional and the prices are reasonable. Shop their great sales - shop local. Support small business. I am glad I do- and so are my grandkids!

Local chain/franchise that specializes in active playthings and educational toys. The stores have a…read moregood variety of stuff. Three stars for variety and quantity. My issues with the stores are the unpleasant staff and the return policy. The return policy: If you have a receipt and the item is unopened, is straightforward. If you have opened the box and the item does not have a manufacturer defect, then they will not accept the item back. Opening the item makes it unable to be resold. Only with a manufacturer defect will they take an open item back for a refund. So, if your child does not like the toy or you just are not happy with your choice, you are out of luck. I hate to say it, do your research and purchase the item somewhere that has a less restrictive return policy even if slightly more expensive. Not having the hassle of dealing with The Learning Express will be worth it in the end.

There at also the stores that are so packed and disorganized that you couldn't find something to get a deal on if you wanted to. Rubber Chicken Comics perfectly straddles the middle ground of those 2 examples. There are loads of boxes with .50 cent comics, $1.00 comics & $5 comics that are regularly refilled and always have people digging through them. They also have an amazing selection of gently used $5 graphic novels. Besides the boxes that all deserve time to dig though they have a clearly marked and organized section of new weekly comics, a wall of recent back issues for on going series and organized bins of older back issues. Somehow this shop also gets the best "wall books" in the area! From huge key books to rare variants, complete sets to signed books, original art sketch covers to golden age back issues. The wall is ever changing with assorted rarities at amazing prices. In addition to the comics they also have action figures (new and old), statues, vintage toys and games and other assorted collectibles. They offer weekly subscription pull list service and allow you to change on a monthly basis and give a 10-20-% discount based on the number of books on your pull list. They have bags, boards, boxes and other supplies as well. I can't recommend this shop enough there is always a great conversation or debate going on and everyone is welcome from the most seasoned collector to the newest comic fan. There is some thing for everyone here! No intimidating clerks or judgmental "Comicbook guys". Check them out!!

I needed just one item, and as I walked in to a packed store on Friday afternoon I realized Mother's Day was just two days away. I wish I had more time because I would have spent a lot of time browsing (much to the dismay of my wallet), but I found what I needed and headed towards the line to pay. While there were a few people ahead of me, they had 5 registers open so it was just a couple of minutes wait time and I was out of there. Parking is a bit of a zoo because you need to go to the end of the plaza (and next to all of the lunatics coming out of Whole Foods), I recommend parking far away from the store and exiting via the access along the wooded area!

Here's my take: over the past 10 years, small gift shop like Terrazza have disappeared, closed because of online shopping and specifically Amazon. I LOVE a great gift shop and love poking around enjoying the beautiful displays, and products you really only find in a store like this. I live in CT where most stores like this have shuttered so when both daughters moved nearby Franklin, finding this was the best surprise. Is it priced higher? Well it's a small business so that might be true. Is the staff "watchful"... I've experienced this and I don't take offense as they're protecting their investment. If they followed me the entire time, I'd never return as I don't like that but it's been subtle. The customer service comments I understand. And appreciate. Their return policy isn't particularly lenient but again it's a small business trying to survive in a world of internet shopping. However how many times do you buy something online on Etsy or amazon and it's not quite what you expected or wanted? ... there's nothing better than seeing the item in person, touching it and holding it. One reviewer's comment on the registers and gift wrapping....I'm sure if the owner (s) were aware of that, it wouldn't happen again . That's irritating and plain dumb but not a reason not to shop here. It's really a fabulous gift shop with some unique merchandise. I'm really happy I found this shop and will continue to shop here.
