Been a long time customer of Taylor's. Our go-to meat market for Linguisa. Just enough fat, not too lean and not over spiced. My wife is Portuguese and knows her linguisa and it beats Silva's. Their old fashion hot dogs are also great. Anyhow, now that we are farther away and not driving by as much as we did when living in Bend on our way to CA(ugh), we now order by mail. Have always got the sausages in good shape. But, Taylor's is smart, they won't ship during the warm/hot months because of the danger of spoilage. so just order enough during the winter. I'm visiting from Colorado but my parents live here so I've gone to this establishment many times. They have a walk-up counter style establishment so there's not a "sanitizing between customers" policy. Masks are required. But the take out food is amazing! For breakfast they have an assortment of staples from biscuits and gravy to build a "McMuffin" style breakfast sandwiches. The biscuits are HUGE and they do half orders of most things. The portions are also huge and it's SOOOOO cheap I feel like I'm robbing the place when I take my food out the door. They have real sausage patties that aren't shaped in a machine: just thin slabs of yummy regular or spicy sausage. Eggs of all kinds plus cheese and a few different kinds of breakfast potatoes. They serve breakfast till 10:30am. I hear their lunch sammies are fabulous as well but I haven't gotten those YET! *le sigh* I basically had to eat here since there's nothing else in this rural town. It's basically a meat store that sells sandwiches and deli-like stuff on the side. I heard many people tell me they serve a mean buffet style brunch, which is a complete lie. This place is nothing special. For lunch one day I order a chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. It was your run-of-the-mill buttered and grilled bread chicken cold cut slathered in mayo and topped with pickles. The grease literally trickled down my chin with every chew. The taste of fat was this sandwiches only saving grace and only point of flavor. I didn't finish it, or the fries as they gave me a plate full of cold, dry, tasteless sticks of sweet potato, unsalted. During the buffet breakfast one day I ordered potatoes and sausage, scrambled eggs, bacon and biscuits and gravy to go. This is not what grandma used to make. It was an over priced, overly processed breakfast. I could have made better at home and saved my $30. The biscuit was dry and tasted like it came straight out of a bisquick box. The gravy and bacon were okay, but nothing I couldn't whip up myself. The potatoes and sausage is what did it in for me. The sausage was questionable- oddly colored, too thick and on the verge of spoiling. The potatoes were bland, but at least they were still edible. They eggs were watery. It must be the jerky that keeps this place alive. They have incredible dried jerky that they make in house. It is undetermined (by every employee I ask) if the meat here is organic or grass fed or range free. I think it's safe to assume that it's not since no one who works there knows if it is. If you don't care about hormone or antibiotic free food, then this jerky is the jerky for you. Overall, this place isn't good but it's the only place around which is why I think so many people suggest it to me. If you're trying to decide if its worth it, just fire up your stove and save yourself the trip and the money. Unless of course you've got a hankering for jerky. read more

A carnivore's dream! Every kind of fresh, smoked, or frozen meat you can imagine plus a full menu for lunch. I had the Italian sausage, my husband got a pulled pork sandwich and we split an order of sweet potato fries. We should have split a sandwich and skipped the fries since each serving was beyond generous. Ended up eating the sausage and sauce and leaving most of the bread which is unlike me! What be said about this place is that is a MUST stop on the way through town. The burgers taste amazing you can really tell the quality of the meat. The onion rings are amazing. My husband and I were visiting family in Selma over the holidays. I hadnt been to Taylors in 10+ years and when we walked in it was just as I had remembered. Its a very casual little meat store, that has a nice big wrap around counter with all the delicious meats you can think of. They are really well known for their "wet Jerkey" which is amazing!! My husband went nuts because they had Landjager, which he loves. We had a bite to eat, the Baked Beans ares seriously out of this world!! SO MUCH BACON!!!!!! and so smokey and good!!! OMG, we just discovered these sausages when visiting the redwoods on vacation from Hawaii - having grown up in San Francisco foodie culture, I felt like we had tasted just about the best of the best of all types of food. The absolute worst service ever!!!!!! Went in there on the way back home and I'm still in shock over the worst treatment ever. Let me start by saying I have eaten there in the past usually a sausage dog and never had a problem just eat it and go. But most recently we went in and ordered a hot pastrami have sandwich with everything in it including jalapenos. There was a long line behind me. And I waited my time just like everyone else did. My sister ordered before I did as well. By the time I received my sandwich everyone else had been served including my sister . I did not order anything special except that I asked for rye bread. With my sandwich finally came with white bread. I took it back up and I said I'm sorry I asked for rye bread and by the way I'm a little irritated that I ordered before everyone here and yet everyone here is already seated and eating and my food has just barely come out and it came out wrong. The young girl that was helping me at the moment listened and took my sandwich back. The cook that was recooking my food was listening the whole time. When my sandwich finally came back , it was packed with jalapenos so much that I could not even eat my sandwich so as I started to pull them out my sister said no that's ridiculous. So we didn't ask to talk to a manager. So now the cook who made that sandwich came out and instead of apologizing proceeded to tell us that we were so rude that we made this young girl cry that was helping us. First of all this is not the way you approach a customer you apologize for the order not being correct.. and then you remake the sandwich. I said to her we were not rude and if there was a video around the store they could see that we were not rude but she was more concerned that we would not get not only our money back for this sandwich but she also would not remake our sandwich. Another manager came out and could see that this was not correct. She apologized and offered to remake our sandwich. And we gladly accepted. While she was in the back taking care of this ,the same manager that was there before or at least that's what she called herself came out once again and said all on her own I just talked to you the other manager and we cannot give you your money back or make you a sandwich. I did said to the girl you and I are done talking I am talking to your other manager, I have nothing to say to you. I'm not sure but if it was because I was dark skinned the only dark skin person there that I was being treated so poorly or if it was just their poor service if it was not for the one girl that just happened to intervene I really would have left this review a lot sooner. As I have thought about this I just cannot imagine treat somebody so rude so while they're sausage maybe wonderful and their food may be good which is why we went back no one should ever be treated with such disrespect just because they are not happy with the service that was given to them. read more

I was very disappointed because I grew up loving this place and moved to California and recently ordered beef jerky and beef sticks from them. ($48 ish...) They sent me rancid beef sticks and when I called them regarding the quality of the beef sticks they argued with me about why they were rancid and instead of refunding me the money or letting me use that money towards buying another product they want me to ship back the rancid beef sticks which will cost around $5. The beef sticks were 8.99+ shipping I would think they would just refund 8.99 in order to keep a customer. I was planning on ordering more pounds of beef jerky which would've been around a $50 order. Now I'm just kind of turned off. read more

Where on earth did this ingredient come from, certainly not from UK. chili not on your label but definitely included. so hot, I am going to call Fred Meyers and tell them, these sausages have no resemblance to a British banger. I would like to let the community no how taylors sausage reputation has been like. very disappointed on how the store slash restaurant make me feel like less of a person. seems i get looked down upon is it the way im dressed or the way i talk or look who knows. I very rarely go there due to that concern I even worked for a guy and helped build the wooden tables they use. my friend spends thousands of dollars there a year. and he says he loves the food but he feels awkward in there and . he dreads going in but is hungry and just deals with it he says. recently i had the plant processes some meat fore me they said it would be three weeks. they said they have been busy. OK so weeks go by no call what so ever. two months go by and im thinking wheres the call to come get the meat. So i decided to call. they told me that they have lost my number or misplaced it. they couldn't find who i was they said. I told the boss i was needing the meat. i asked if they would give me a cost break for the inconvenience. they said they would give 20 dollars of. i felt that that was no enough and almost unreasonable for the time it took and for being unorganized and not professional. I stated in my own business if told a customer it would take two weeks to complete a wooden table and i took 2 months to complete it due to some reason and didn't call and tell the costumer I would take a loss and give it away free of charge due to the delay and un professional. I will never take my meat there ever again. they had a # of excuses an feel the way they handled it was not write. they tell me they have been swamped. they have been taking in very large orders of meat prosesing from the big guy who owns many head of cattle. other wise meat from a very big ranch. tending to the big land owner's and cattle baron. seems like talylors is biting of more then they can chew. I will never go there again. i will advise others to not ether. it is unfortunate to have this happen but as i no when businesses like taylors expand like they have the quality of the business goes down hill. mr taylor needs to re think how he is running his business. read more
