A brief background to my visit: Since previous visits had been fairly good, I returned and had a cast taken of my upper set of teeth in preparation for a mouth guard. The nurse was so intent on rectifying her mistake that she attempted to wrench the cast off my teeth too early, resulting in an injury that took months (and two doctors visits, ie two co-pays) to heal. Fast forward to my latest visit (I know I could have found another dentist, but I tend to give folks the benefit of the doubt). My dental hygienist was apparently a replacement. I informed her of the problem with my mouth, but this was ignored. On multiple occasions, dental tools 'slipped' and ended up hitting my cheek, chin, etc. To cap it all off, when told by the dentist that she needed to use a particular tool to remove coffee stains, one which she had not used before, she made an audible comment to her colleague, 'it's removing SOME of it.' Some of it? So I am paying for incomplete service? How about I only pay SOME of my bill? Interestingly enough, that is another matter. When I questioning what had resulted in a $50 charge on my statement that I did not recognize, I was told that it related to a missed appointment from my wife, and that if two people were under the same plan and lived at the same address, it was policy to send out one statement. Now I don't know if that is in contravention of HIPAA rules (I believe it is), but is certainly MOST unethical. Lastly, for those of you who think that I have nothing good to say or that I am complaining too much, the receptionists were very pleasant...

I ended up having oral surgery and even through the referral process, Kelly checked on me several times over the weekend and got me into a great oral surgeon in Dr. Silverstein. Without gas, my day was quite anxious but went thru the novacaine needle ok but when Dr Rose was ready to have her drilling begin, she said she wasn't numb. Annoyed, he tried to keep drilling but when she said she a could still feel the pain, he came back with another needle, clearly annoyed with her and numbed her up so badly she couldn't feel her eye and wasn't able to eat for way longer than the usual novacaine needle. Never again.

Maybe they're great with people who have average-slightly above average dental anxiety. But for someone with literal dentist phobia, you will not be treated with any more patience than anyone else who experiences no clinical distress just by stepping foot in the office. If you have questions about your insurance, the receptionists are quick to CORRECT you, not have any type of patience to explain or ask clarifying questions. Again, these guys are probably fine if you have no issues going to the dentist. But if you already have issues, don't bother trying here. I'm sure the staff would be happy to hear I'm never going back.
