An update review on this college. A year ago, my views were much more aggressive, and I hope this…read morereview will be a bit more matured. While some things still feel the same, my thoughts have improved. The school is good I would say slightly above average. I like that there are a bunch of activities, some school bound, and some outside of campus. The discounts for events are a big draw, as they are often half priced. 9/10 The transportation I would say is a solid 7/10. it gets the job done, and is not required, unless living in the 'commons'. this portion of the living facilities needs some work when it comes to the bus system. the commons is unfortunately too far from the classes, and unless students like to walk maybe a good mile to class, the bus or a car is needed. missing a bus in the commons can ultimately affect a on time class trip making the student either late or not wanting to go to that class. the other living facilities are fine, as they are all in walking distance if missing the bus. the stops are brief, and sometimes its nice to just sit and rest in the shuttle. The classes are, for me, the biggest disappointment. The classes are the biggest challenge, not because of the work, but the way the student/teacher interactions are. Teachers are nice and personable; easy to get along with, however student disruptions can halt a class. I understand learning differences can change how classes operate, but there is a fine line between disability and obnoxious interruptions. Classes get a 4/10. Food quality is actually pretty good. Food is tasty, delightful and quick. The cheeseburger is the easiest item, but there are other items from wings, to nachos, pizza, fresh fruits and veggis. The menu changes each day. The dining room is a tad too tiny and sometimes can get loud- bring headphones if you want inner quiet. However, there is some nice outdoor seating. Overall, food gets a 7/10. not to mention is a buffet, so have at it. Student life and dorms are another category. Some can be great people to hang with for a few hours. In my experience, it was extremely hard to make lasting relationships here. There was a ton of drama that i did not want to engage with. Expect easy but flexibility friendships and you will not be disappointed. Dorm life can be comfortable, with full size kitchen and washer/dryers. Rooming with others can be challenging when there is different personalities/habits-. The actual dorm works-with nice, open living spaces and comfy beds. 6/10 There are some other things I can mention, but I do not want to write a book. Overall, its a decent little campus with a quaint town feel, good selection of activities, staff/teachers are engaging, small classes 7-10 student/teacher ratio. I have grown as a person and how to better handle situations from being at college. Best of luck to future Beacon students!

Attending a semester of this school was the worst experience of my life, first off, the students…read morehere act UNBEARABLE and barely anyone does a single thing about it, students were rude, disrespectful, loud and obnoxious in class with them misbehaving, making loud noises and even talking other the teachers a tone, some even trying to purposely anger other students, which made focusing and getting stuff done nearly impossible. Also when I asked my learning specialist (who you were supposed to meet with once a week no matter who you were) all I was told was "just try to be more tolorant" when students literally straight up acted rude and disrespectful in class, also, I was straight up s*xually harrassed in my own dorm by transphobic students and only 1 of them actually got expelled, another student brought a flickknife in my dorm and proceeded to brag about "having a criminal record". I know several people in college who NEVER have had to deal with ANYTHING like what I delt with at this place. Also the teachers at this school were super tempermental and flipped out over the most minor things that teachers at my current school wouldnt ever flip out over, also this school teaches about being a "victim vs a creator" in such a tone deaf condesending way that it felt like they were actively shaming people who were struggling and tried portraying them as annoying or pathetic, even other students I talked about agreed with me that it felt like victim blaming. This school needs to be investigated, so many awful horrible people went to this school and as a nero divergant person, I did not feel safe here, I did not feel at home here, I felt alienated from the rest of the world, I felt isolated, Something is defenitely up with this place. I have a therapist and he was horrified with what I had told him about this school as he's told me he will try to warn other patients of his with ADHD to not go here. This school is an absolute hellhole that should not exist, this school is not a school for people with ADHD, this is a school for people with behavorial issues who are too immature to be at any other school, ive seen transferred schools and I absolutely love my current school, this place is once again an absolute hellhole, to anyone with ADHD, Please stay as far away from this place as possible and try to look for any other good college with good accomodations for ADHD because even the accomodations this school offered did NOT make up for everythinge else about it.

Especially when they are rivals like UF and FSU. That was an experience in itself. I got to see the lively college party scene and game scene. I was mesmerized. Fast forward to Oct 17-18, 2025 and we got to bring our kids here so they could see where their dad went to college. Hubby was so proud and gave them a tour of where he lived, his frat house, the campus, the hangouts and of course THE SWAMP!!!! We arrived on Fri 10/17 for the Gator Growl which is their Pep Rally the day before the game. We got tickets to a Florida Blue Key Event as he was part of this organization when he went to school here. They held the event in the building where the basketball games and gymnastics take place. The event was cool as we had food & drinks included and a cute Photo Booth area to take photos. Afterwards, we went into the basketball stadium to find our seats to watch the Gator Growl. They brought out the dancers, cheerleaders, National Championship Basketball team, homecoming court and played several videos of celebrities, important peeps and influencers hyping up Gator Growl. The big performer of the night was Steve Aoki and he definitely brought the energy! We had a BLAST!!! We walked around the campus after the show and stopped into Reitz Union to look around but also grab some late night eats. The only spot open late was Sonic. Good enough. Game day was on Sat 10/18. UF vs Mississippi. We arrived around 2pm to tailgate. Stopped by hubby's old stomping grounds at his frat house. That was overwhelming but a fun tailgating scene. Afterwards, we walked around and checked out all the tailgaters around the stadium, got some food from the food trucks and then headed into the game around 4pm. We got some super sized High Noon canned drinks and damn they were expensive at $22 each can. Ouch! We got Gatorade for the kids, naturally. We had BOMB seats 2nd row back by the 50 yard line on the visitors side, fortunately for us there were still mainly UF fans on this side too. Ha. Fabulous game with tons of hyped up energy!!! Gators ended up winning 23-21 so it was AWESOME!!! What a super fun weekend! So happy we got to bring the kids here to give them a glimpse into the college experience. My husband called this the "College Promo Tour"!!! Lol. UF is a stunning campus and widely spread out. Gainesville is a good time indeed. We would love for the kids to go to college here but honestly, almost all of the Florida colleges are stellar choices! UF is KING for obvious reasons! GO GATORS!!!

It's Great to be a Florida Gator! The school has so much to offer. Not only a top education but so much more and a spirit that only a few schools have. The campus itself is absolutely beautiful with rolling hills and trees. You really feel as if you've stepped out of Florida when you're here. On top of world-class academics offering so many opportunities to it's students, there are great sports... some of the best SEC teams in the nation. A Division Champion Basketball team, great football, baseball, gymnastics, just to name a few. "Gator Nation" is known for its strong sense of community, loyalty, enthusiasm, and pride. Once a Gator... always a Gator and it's a pride that will stay with you forever.
