Not in a normal business way but negatively as if she suspected me of something. Really nasty. It's been ages since I used a taxi. A lot has changed. Booked at the airport via the app and was excited to see that a driver "picked up" my request almost immediately. He was close by. The call center called and confirmed the pick up location as well. However, the driver was not only late he marked me as a no show. I tried to contact him when it said he arrived via the call button but the call button connects to a call center. Got placed on hold a few times by a confused representative who seemed to have no idea why she picked up. I told her the driver hadn't arrived and I was trying to connect with the driver. They told me to call back because the driver was trying to reach me even though the app doesn't offer any way to contact the driver directly. As I told her this, I saw the car drive past. She put me on hold before the call disconnected. (They were not driving through where they told me the pick up location was.). I tried to wave the car down but he just continued onto the high way. This was all within 10 minutes of placing my order. I eventually called again until my order was dropped and they told me a cab was nearby (and I could see this on the app as well) and they hung up on me before I could reply. At the 22 minute mark I got a text that I was a noshow and that the driver called me even though they didn't. I continued to wait another 35 minutes and my request was not picked up despite an icon of a taxi being with a 5 mile radius. Eventually, I just called an Uber. Honestly, the app is trash. And the discount is very miniscule given the headache it was. I don't know why I waited that long. I should have known from the Google Reviews, but I'm still appalled they told me to call back. read more

Used the mobile app and the wrong address got entered in tried all day to cancel on the app, kept telling me oops something went wrong try later tried to call and cancel and reschedule they hung up on me tried again. Lady told me I cant schedule 24 hours in advance and call just before I want to leave. I made a reservation the day before our early morning flight. I called again when the pickup was late. I was told there was a 60-90 minute wait for drivers; there were other customers also in line. I was never told of a possible delay or inadequate number of drivers when I made the reservation. Nor did they suggest an earlier pickup just in case. After arguing with the customer service agent (who hung up on me), we hailed a Yellow Taxi that just happened to be driving by. I highly recommend avoiding this company. read more

Went to the airport via Uber came back in a cab and found out the hard way Uber is significantly less expensive. Cabbie also charged $5 per carry on luggage case although he only helped put one of them in the trunk and didn't help get either one out. I asked at the onset, before getting into the cab, if I could pay by credit card. At the destination (home) he tried to get cash out of me. I've had a lot of bad experiences with taxis in Milwaukee but this is the last time. Uber from now on. read more

Used these people a bunch of times because they appear when I book a taxi using the Taxi Magic app on my phone. Sometimes prompt, sometimes not. Sometimes they have receipts, sometimes they do not. This isn't going to be nice... Called American United on a Tuesday. Needed a ride from La Fuente to The Rave. Pretty simple, right? After being told the cab will be there in 20 mins. I received a call from the cab driver 5 mins later (I guess they always pad the time so they never appear to be late). Cab driver says he is outside. We go to the chilly outside, no cab. Wait 5 mins, no cab. Wait 10, no cab. Call driver back from caller ID, he continues to tell me that he is outside. Then, I just tell him go to La Fuente, that's where we are. He says needs the street address...? I don't get it, how can any cab drive in the city of Milw not know where LA FUENTE IS??? Give him the address and continue waiting... I'm fed up and call Yellow Taxi. Yellow arrives in less than 5 minutes. Right around the time the American cab finally shows up (yesss... 25 mins later) I point to the American and give him the "NO-NO" finger and point to the Yellow cab, nod and proceed to get in. American Sucks. They don't show up and then lie about it and don't know where the most common simple places are without an address (or in my case even with an address they don't know where it is). Trust the reviews about Taxi MKE not showing up. I prescheduled 5 rides 4 days in advance so my daughter could attend a specialized camp while I was at work. I was assured by the dispatcher they could pick her up at 8:30 AM. For the 3 rides they were late by 21 minutes, 26 minutes, and 22 minutes. The 4th ride was on-time. For the 5th ride, my daughter called to tell me they hadn't come. I called dispatch at 9:05 AM; within the conversation I was told a driver was within a mile of my address. At 9:26 AM I received a call from Taxi MKE asking if my daughter still needed a ride - yes. During the wait, the camp coordinator reached out offering my daughter a ride to camp. I called Taxi MKE at 9:46 AM to cancel the taxi that still wasn't dispatched. An hour and 26 minutes late and they still weren't on their way. read more

As small Milwaukee there should be no reason that cabs are this awful. They seem confused about making reservations & don't even honor those pick up times. I've used cab companies around the country to arrange for pick-ups & drop-offs at colleges/universities for my high school students & this company is the most inept & beyond clueless. I popped onto Yelo to write this now because due to their incompetence my group could have missed their train. (Thank God their Amtrak to Chicago got delayed.) I'm past angry about this because it shouldn't have happened, not that hard to make a scheduled pick-up. I also resorted to this company because others in town won't allow riders to pay by credit card upon arrival. Bloomington, Gainesville, Champaign - I'm able to but these folks, no. Time to modernize, people. Give your drivers Square or something, don't need an MBA or a business plan to find easier, 21st century ways for patrons to pay. Picked up an American cab to run a few errands a month ago outside of Hi Hat Lounge. After a few errand stops that consisted of me exiting the cab and returning promptly, the driver and I arrived at my final stop where the driver asked me if I would be coming back (I had told the guy that I was just running in, and that this was my last stop - heck, I even left my laptop bag and purse in the back of the cab - but since he was on the phone and had been the entire time, perhaps he wasn't paying attention to what I was saying?!). I ran into the building to take care of my business and when I return (less than 5 minutes later, mind you, and, by the way, the cabbie can SEE ME inside the building I'm in) the cab, along with my purse (containing my house keys, some important work papers, my planner/palm pilot, etc) and my laptop bag (with, obviously, a laptop inside) is GONE. I wait around for a couple minutes thinking that maybe the cabbie had gone around the block because there was no parking. After a few minutes I started to panic, and all I could think was, "I've been freakin' robbed by that cab driver!" I dialed the cab company, who were less than enthusiastic about trying to find the driver for me (I had only remembered 2 of the 3 medallion numbers). The dispatcher told me to call the police, which I did. While I was waiting for the cops to arrive, I received a call from the cab driver himself who immediately began shouting at me, at which point I suggested he come back to where he dropped me off as I had called the police. Soon after, the police arrived, followed in short order by the cab driver, who was immediately *belligerent* to both me AND the police officers. The cops grabbed my bags from the cabbie, all the while the cabbie was ARGUING and YELLING at him. Finally, the cop turned on his heel and told mister cab driver, "Yeah, I think we're done here." As the cop handed me my bags, helping me check that all the contents were there, he said to me none-too-quietly, "That guy has ISSUES. I'd suggest using a different cab company." WISE WORDS, OFFICER. We took an independent cab called Mke City Taxi which is a independent driver for American taxi company. The rider in front of us asked if we wanted to take the van and he could take the smaller sedan. I appreciated it because there were four of us and three really large bags. Our driver was irate to say the least complaining he had been waiting for three hours. He said it would be a flat $15.00 rate and didn't turn on the meter. When we were exiting and getting ready to pay, he said it would be $19.00 which I refused to pay. I called and talked with Bob at the taxi company and he told me we have the right to refuse a ride if the meter isn't turned on. .It's probably the last time I will use this company. read more

Have you ever had to stand in the Wisconsin cold waiting for a taxi that never comes? That's what happened to me and my husband after calling Yellow Cab in Milwaukee. Our convention was over for the night and we asked to be picked up at Gate 5 of the fairgrounds. We waited, and waited, and waited. Fast forward one hour and I am shivering, have permanent goose-bumps, and am mentally checking off the things I have accomplished on my bucket list. With blue fingertips my husband dialed American Taxi and they were there in 5 MINUTES! We used American all weekend and they were always there in 10 minutes or less, give you a courtesy call 5 minutes before the driver arrives, and have nice drivers who were always courteous. Don't bother with anyone else, especially Yellow Cab in the fall or winter. You'll likely succumb to exposure before the taxi ever arrives. Just save yourself wasted time and frostbite and call American. read more

I made an appointment on a Sunday afternoon. To be picked up at 7:15 am on the next day (Monday). I called at 7:15am to make sure they had my appointment . They did. Then someone called me at 8:00am, asking do I still need a ride I said yes. I have a Doctors appointment. Then the phone ranged at 8:30 am. I answered the phone, no one said anything, and no cab was in front of my home. At the same time I heard a text message come to my cell phone. I checked the text, and it said my ride was cancelled. I called the company back and asked why my ride was cancelled. And I was told I never answered the phone. Which was a complete lie. I will not call them again. I used them 3 weeks prior and everything was okay. This company is nit reliable. I had to cancelled my Doctors appointment. Thanks a lot TaxiMKW!!!! read more

Call taxi is the name of the game in Milwaukee. None of those cool services or car service apps work here in this little town on the lake. We called, and within 20 minutes our cab was ready to take us home. Compared to Chicago, the price was fair and the drivers were friendly. Overall, for those who cab in Milwaukee between the 3d Ward and Bay View I would suggest that you use these guys. Most cab rides were about 10 bucks with tip (7.50 on the meter). Did we wait on hold when it was busy? A little bit, but not bad at all. In a city where most people drive around drunk as skunks, a $10 or $20 bill to get taxied around is a better bet than driving drunk like a Milwaukee jackass. Our last driver even made fun of the biker who cut him off, and was playing amazing South Asian rock and roll. Excellent. read more

I got ripped off. I took a ride to the VA Hospital. Too ill to drive. Legit charge. Fine. Paid it. Then 6 bogus charges totaling about $65.00 from Uber mysteriously appeared on my bank account. Where did Uber get the information to put the fake charges. American United Taxi? Under normal circumstances, I don't use taxis. I used it once, in the last 6 months, now I got 7 charges & only 1 trip taken. Very unhappy. read more

I downloaded their app and booked transportation to the airport with pickup at 3:15AM. I booked the trip the day before my departure. Maybe 45 minutes before the pickup time, an alert appeared in the app indicating that a driver was being assigned. After waiting until a half hour before pickup, I called them and was informed that they could not find a driver for me. Then I was informed that because I booked through their app, the app that their website encouraged me to download, there was no guarantee that a driver would be located. Absolutely ridiculous!!! If that is how they operate, they should make that crystal clear, because I would not have wasted me time or jeopardized me and my family missing our flight. Furthermore, they were so cavalier about the transaction, I had to call them to find out I did not have a ride. I was able to call for a taxi and make my flight. But if you expect reliable service, I recommend you look elsewhere, based on my experience with this company read more

Boyfriend called for a cab to pick him up at 4:40 am to go to the airport. Driver arrived at 3:35 am and called boyfriend to alert him he was outside. Boyfriend said, Okay, I'll be out in 5 min. Cab driver indicated unless he was out there in 2 minutes, he's leaving. Boyfriend informed cab driver he would be out at 4:40 for the cab he ordered to be there at 4:40, as he was not yet dressed. Cab driver left. Boyfriend called Yellow Cab Co., who said they'd be there in 10 minutes and showed up in 20. This reminded me of an incident I had back in June when I pre-ordered (a day in advance) a cab through American United to pick me up at 11:30 am to go to airport. 11:30 am came. No cab. 11:40, still no cab. Called dispatcher. He said it's on his way. 11:45 am, cab driver called me, said he'll be there in 10 min. Told him I need him here NOW...I ordered a cab for 11:30 am and I have a flight to catch. Cab driver informs me if I'm going to yell at him, he's not coming at all. He did eventually show up -- at noon. Luckily, I allowed additional time for travel and managed to make my flight - no thanks to the cab driver. Two strikes. I'm not giving American United a chance to strike out a 3rd time. Will not ever be using them again. Ever. I am only giving them a one star rating because Yelp won't let you give zero stars. read more

Just took a cab to my dentist appointment I booked it using their app on my phone for a later time to pick me up the driver was early, the car was clean and the driver was very friendly. Not sure why there are so many bad reviews but my first experience was excellent. American united cab's dispatcher are clueless. I asked for cabs ,and they arrive too early! I ask 4 pickup at grocery store, and they say no, I have to b an employee of the store. But then I met someone who was waiting 4 an american united, and wasnt grocery store employee, well what is the deal. Can never get manager 2 retirm calls. read more

Called for a ride from a restaurant and gave the cross streets and name of the restaurant, but since I didn't have the physical they wouldn't pick me up. Their loss. I Uber'd instead. Cleaner and better any way. read more

They overcharge for rides because the city allows a monopoly to flourish. The driver lease the cabs from the owner, Joe Sanfillepo, for $1k per week. They won't take credit cards because the owner takes 20% of the credit card receipts. The service is very slow even with the taxi magic app. They don't allow you to pay with the app. They also won't take you out of downtown if its busy. read more

We were hung up on 7 times. Callers lied and said there wasn't any manager on staff only to tell us later they had 2 supervisors but one was out of the building and the other wouldn't talk to us. They said we were rude, but I hadn't raised my voice or said anything that required being hung up on twice. My friend left his keys in the cab on Sunday night at 5:30 p.m. and isn't allowed to pick them up until 8 a.m. tomorrow morning. He can't get to work, they are yelling at us and saying we having been bothering them all night. We said we would meet the cab driver anywhere; were then told they don't track the drivers; on another call were told the cab driver was off the road; they don't track them after they check out; we would only be guaranteed to get the keys after 8 a.m. tomorrow when a manager was on. Madelyn and Bev down treated us like crap, and I will tell anyone and everyone why they should use any other taxi cab service in Milwaukee. Gotta love how word of mouth is the best form of advertising. Apparently they don't know that, but will soon find out when I wage war on them with my letters, calls and anything else I can do that will let people know how much they suck. read more

Terrible company. I have scheduled transportation for my patient's multiple times with them and they will show up hours before the scheduled appointment and never follow the protocol of calling the facility as they are supposed to and just leave without the patient being picked up. They have a scheduled pick up time for a reason! read more

Extremely unreliable and a number of the operators at the dispatch center seem to be reasonably without a care for what constitutes even mediocre customer service. The drivers have been pretty good with a couple of notable exceptions. read more
