If you are smart, you won't use Tax Plus. I was overcharged for years until I asked around. Turns out my taxes are very simple to do and Tax Plus did everything they could to make it seem more complicated--took their time to finish (were obviously dishonest about how long it really takes), charged $$ on top of their fee for each and every form they print out, have everyone come back in to sign in person. I have never done my taxes myself, and couldn't be bothered. I finally had my taxes done elsewhere and my fee was 1/10th of the fee I was charged at Tax Plus. Yup! Tax Plus just added a zero at the end of their fee for laughs I suppose, after they saw the refund I was getting. It took my new preparer 45 minutes to file, and she did them while I waited. I was woefully uninformed, but also taken advantage of. Carol and Tax Plus are without conscience. read more

Not a fan!I've been with them two years in a row.The first time was okay,i felt like they were sorta lazy about they're work. The second was horrible,they were pushy about scheduling,then once they were done they were pushy to get me off they're backs. I thought maybe they had the wrong address for my tax info, so i called to talk to someone about it just because it had been 2 months after I mailed them out and still nothing. The person I spoke to treated me like I was retarded,she became extremely breathy and aggressive attitude over the phone.I admit i don't know alot about my taxes, but thats why I'm paying these people! After talking to the IRS I discovered my tax paperwork had been lost in the mail,so now I have to get copies of everything and remail it out. So i call tax plus for copies and now they're making me pay $15 extra for copies! Next year for sure I'm doing my own taxes with a program! read more

Terrible. They were sloppy and the person in charge seemed bored and uninterested. They made mistakes and when we asked them to correct them they agreed, but then they made new mistakes. When we told them about the new mistakes, they asked us to correct them by writing a letter to the IRS ourselves which we had to do. They made us feel like they couldn't be bothered. I made the appointment over the phone to apply for a tax number. When I showed up, the person in charge told me that even if she would file the application for me, it would get rejected, because apparently it should be filed along with the tax return at the end of the financial year. I don't understand why she couldn't tell me this over the phone. Unhelpful attitude, waste of time, weird unwelcoming atmosphere in the office. I would give it only 1 star, but the Receptionist was friendly, so I'll go with two stars. read more

Not a fan either. I had to send some additional information which they said they would accept via e-mail. I also asked a question in my e-mail about possible deductions. They called to let me know my return was done but they needed payment before they could mail it to me. Then they sent my return to the wrong address even after taking the time to write down my address. After reviewing my return, they did not include the additional deductions and I ahd to call and ask why. So basically, they took the info from my e-mail and blew off my question and sent my return to an erroneous address for a mere $192.00. Oh, and now they have to re-do my return with my correct address. Guess what my rating of them is.... read more

The process seemed straightforward and affordable when I first went there. However, the process was a lot more cumbersome than I thought it had to be. First, they asked me to pick up my tax return and sign some paperwork after I dropped off my documents. All this seemed reasonable, except for the fact that no one was in the office during their hours of operation when they told me to stop by. As a result, I had to make another trip a week later just to sign some paperwork. When I arrived the second time, the place was closed again even though I made an appointment to make sure someone would be there. I waited outside for about 10 minutes until someone finally arrived. Second, they processed my taxes with the wrong address. As a result, my refund is delayed. Even though they were nice and capable, I do not think they were as thorough or organized as they could have been. I believe they wasted a lot of my time and I would recommend going elsewhere. read more

The owner, Carol, has given me quality attention every year and her knowledge of the tax code is outstanding. The staff is also very supportive and courteous.The fees are VERY reasonable and trhe service is superb.I would recommend Tax Plus without any qualifications for help with your tax and accounting issues. read more

These people were awful. I had to take my taxes back to them three times, because of mistakes I found. I felt I knew more about taxes than these bozos because they did not understand how certain specific tax rules applied. What's worse is that if I were none the wiser, my taxes would be wrong, and I would owe more money!!! Trip #1: They initially said I owed a penalty, then I pointed out that if they went through the papers I gave them, that I was not subjected to an under-withholding penalty, and they agreed. Trip #2: They messed up my ROTH IRA conversion, very badly, and all the calculations were redone. My home state does not tax ROTH IRA conversions (not California). I realized later, after it was too late, that they also messed up the deduction of my rental property, so now I'm stuck for the next 26 years with their mistake or until I sell my rental. Trip #3: They had me send out the wrong payment to the California Franchise Tax Board, because of a simple math error. Sadly I caught this after I mailed my taxes, so I had to then file for a refund. And on top of all of this, they charged me $500+ to do this. Don't expect them to actually read through your documents you give them carefully. If you don't review their work or don't know enough to review their work, heaven help you. Why did I even bother? read more

Carol is a thoughtful and compassionate tax accountant. Hard to find usually! She has a vast knowledge which she has no problem sharing. Her staff are also very helpful and polite. Their attention to detail is exactly what you want for someone who is doing your taxes or bookkeeping. Truly a bad customer experience here. Despite the fact that Tax Plus came highly recommended by a friend, they took two months to complete a tax return that they told me would take two weeks. They were not considerate when I called to inquire about the status of the return, then they processed it through with mistakes. A big waste of time and money! read more
