They took a look at my car for free to identify the issue and they detected the leak to be coming from my engine and not my transmission. They showed me exactly what they were seeing, why they thought it was my engine and not my transmission, and offered to put a dye in my transmission fluid to ensure it was my engine and not my transmission. I drove my car for a week and took it back to double check, and sure enough it was my engine! Although they spent time and care on my car, they didn't charge me a single penny, even when I insisted to at least pay for the dye. They were able to refer me another mechanic to fix my engine leak and I was able to get my issue solved that same day. As a woman who is nervous to get work done on my car, I had an excellent time at El Monte Transmission. If you are having transmission troubles, please go to them :)

John & his team are professional, and very honest, & took the time to explain exactly what was going on with my Jeep's transmission. I'll definitely recommend them to anyone and everyone who needs transmission work! Thank you guys!!!

I brought my 2013 Nissan Versa in for a second opinion because the dealership (where I thought my…read morenew transmission was under warranty) quoted $10,000 to replace the transmission AGAIN and replace a few other parts. Lee and Sam took the vehicle for a few hours and got it running again for a fraction of the price. They determined that the issue was not related to the transmission. Their willingness to listen, inspect, and be transparent was most striking. I'll definitely be back.

SERIOUS CONSUMER WARNING - DOCUMENTED TRANSMISSION TEARDOWN AFTER "REBUILD"…read more I brought my truck with its 4L80E transmission to this ATRA member shop for a full rebuild. The owner, Mr. Lee, stated he has 43 years of experience and that he personally performs all the rebuilds. I paid him $2,850 and supplied an additional estimated $1300 in quality brand new parts, which he inspected and agreed to install. For context, I have 20 years of experience working on vehicles and am a certified diesel mechanic. The main reason I brought the transmission to a shop was that I didn't have the space nor resources at the time to perform a full removal, installation, and rebuild myself. Communication was polite initially, and the owner appeared willing to work with the parts I supplied. He was also extremely fast and did the actual rebuild in half a day. The transmission failed three separate times within three weeks, requiring removal and reinstallation each time. After the third failure, I towed the truck home and completely disassembled it myself. During teardown and measurement, I documented multiple serious assembly and quality-control issues, including: -Wrong pump installed, despite being told no hard parts were changed -Intermediate clutch pack assembled with incorrect clutches, leaving clearance nearly three times outside specification (which can prevent the clutch from holding properly and lead to rapid failure) -Sun gear installed upside down, blocking a critical lubrication hole required to supply oil to internal components -Several worn bearings, steels, seals, and other components appeared not to have been replaced -Reverse band misadjusted to the point the output shaft would not rotate in any gear The FIRST failure was caused by a transmission fluid leak from an old 180k-mile pump bushing and seal that were not replaced. The SECOND failure was explained to me as transfer case and transmission cracking as soon as Mr. Lee shifted into Drive.. the shop claimed it was caused by my driveshaft despite it being the original factory driveshaft with new, unbound U-joints. The THIRD failure caused severe transmission overheating (never disclosed to me) during Mr. Lee's 5-mile test drive, with a claimed valve body diagnostic code that never appeared when I scanned the truck myself. Because this truck is critical for my cross-country towing work, I ultimately spent three months in very difficult circumstance personally performing a very slow but full transmission teardown in order to rebuild the transmission correctly. I have extensive photos and video documenting all findings of why this transmission had repeated failures in a span of three weeks. If proper assembly, reliability, and accountability matter to you, I strongly recommend choosing another shop.

When I confronted them about the absolute lack of communication and productivity, the staff member blatantly looked me in the eye and said, "I wasted your time." The sheer dismissiveness and toxic attitude from the staff made it incredibly clear that I was being targeted and treated differently. I heavily felt an undercurrent of discrimination in how they chose to dismiss me, speak down to me, and openly boast about wasting my day-- treatment I highly doubt they would show to other customers. Although they don't have a tow service, Christina was able coordinate towing my truck to this shop where they rebuilt the tranny, transfer case, differentials, and replaced a couple of parts. World transmission is a family owned business with respectful people. David is very knowledgable and knows his craft. He went over the details of how my transmission worked and how to preserve its lifespan given that it's a 4x4. Christina is very professional and stands by her word. After I left I reviewed their work and noticed the dust shield on one my brakes was carving into the rotor. I phoned in and was asked to bring the truck back and within the hour of bringing it in, had the rotor replaced with a new one. Mind you that the differential was used so the dust shield may have been bent to begin with. But the important thing is that they didn't play the blame game. Instead they took responsibility and within the hour having brought in the truck, I was already driving off the lot with a brand new rotor. I am completely satisfied with the work and the amount that I paid for it. Truly worth the price. As Andre (see previous post) put it in his post, this is place has the best prices in town. Their prices are fair for the amount of work that needed to be done. The only downside in my opinion is that they have too much work and they don't open on weekends other than Saturday to return the cars. Thus the need to take time off of work to deal with all this. Overall though I can say that I will continue to service my truck here as well as brining my other 2 cars which may be long over due for some transmission service. Thank you Christina for your friendly smile, firm handshake, and professional services. -KC

Our family's Ford Explorer required a water pump replacement…read more I visited several local auto shops to obtain quotes and was shocked, disappointed, and discouraged at the prices I was being quoted for the work my vehicle required ($5,000-$7,500) Shame on me for not reading Yelp reviews before wasting my time visiting other auto shops. I read the many positive reviews for Hye-Tech Auto Repair and decided to visit them. Upon entering, I was greeted by John (owner) with a friendly, "Welcome, how may I help you?" I explained that my Ford Explorer needed a new water pump and a few other items that other auto shops had advised me would require repair or replacement. While John looked up a few items on the computer to provide me with a quote, he introduced me to his son, Harry, who happened to be in the office. Thirty seconds later, John provided a quote that was $3,500-$4,000 less than the other shops. I could not believe it. John explained that he makes his living and succeeds in his business through repeat customers, and he does not believe in gouging customers for every last penny. He also shared that when he retires, his son Harry will take over the business, and he wants to leave Harry with a solid foundation of loyal repeat customers. It was then that I knew I could trust John and his son Harry. John went on to explain that replacing the water pump on a Ford Explorer was a 10-12 hour job, as it was an internal pump requiring numerous engine parts to be removed to reach it. This was the same thing all the other shops advised me. John suggested that I leave my vehicle, and he would perform a full inspection of the engine and contact me before doing anything to it. I agreed and left my vehicle. The following day, I was contacted by John, who advised me that the water pump did indeed need to be replaced, as it was the source of the constant leaks of the water coolant. I left my vehicle in John's shop for three days. During this time, John or his son, Harry, contacted me numerous times to keep me updated on the progress of my vehicle and also to point out that mechanics had discovered two or three very inexpensive items (under $50.00) which they recommended replacing, which I agreed to have done. All in all, I was and am extremely impressed and satisfied with everything about this shop. I spent much less money to have five different issues repaired on my vehicle at Hye-Tech than what I was quoted to replace my water pump alone by every single shop I visited prior to coming to Hye-Tech. John and Harry are very friendly, honest, and trustworthy. They are also very knowledgeable and experienced, and they offer GREAT customer service and communication. This is my new go-to shop for any issues involving our family vehicles. Thank you, Hye-Tech Auto Repair, for a very positive experience.

It's nice to see you can get quotes at the touch of a button on your phone. This morning, I had time off, so I headed in to get my service done. I did not have an appointment and that did not seem to matter. I arrived first thing in the morning at 8 AM and ask if the service could be done. Harry was an exceptional young man, he took me in with no problems, no questions. He said they could do it this morning. I told him I would have to wait. He had no problem with that either. Prior to bring in the car in this morning, as I said, I used a yelp project and had several people reach out and give me quotes. After looking at all the yelp reviews I decided to give this place a try. I am super happy that I did. This place is a hidden gem, excellence, service, quality, and value for what you receive. There are not very many shops where you could feel comfortable and put your trust in them. As I spent time in the lobby, I was able to see customer service on the phone and customer service entering the facility. Every customer that walked in, seem satisfied and was treated with dignity and respect. I highly recommend this place if you have any automotive questions whatsoever.

And at the end it was the opposite he made me pay for the diagnostic which he could not tell me what the problem was. He suggested to replace a solenoid. Which he did and also had to pay. Doing this they had to drain the transmission fluid and put new in. At the end of the day when I went to receive my vehicle they tried to erase the codes. They tried to erase the codes three times and after all the overdrive off code still came on. And the owner told me to take it as a service. Which I did not need because I had gotten my transmission rebuilt two years prior. So I had to pay around $500 for the shop to try and fix a problem that was not fixed. They just try and assume what the problem is and sell you things that you don't need. Stay away from this shop. I gave it a one star because it's the lowest there is. If there was less of a rating than a one star I would give it that.

I agreed to try it and paid $700 ($400 for parts and oil and $300 for labor) up front (thought this was weird but he seemed friendly enough). I dropped it off at 1pm and he calls me back at 4pm to pick up the car. When I arrive he tells me that my transmission is bad and that I need a full rebuild and replacing the solenoid would not help. When I asked why did you proceed to put on the part that wasn't going to fix it - he stated because I told him to do it. Then it dawned on me what this guy was doing and it is a reflection of the kind of business this owner engages in. I also found out the son asked his father whether or not they should call me before putting on the part now that they learned replacing the solenoid would not remedy my transmission issues. Ultimately no one called me and they proceeded with making unnecessary repairs costing me $700. I wasted $700 to put a part that the owner Tony and his son knew wouldn't fix my transmission issues and proceeded anyways. Avoid this place like the plague.
