Review of Tattoo Forever & Defiance Tattoo (Fort Walton Beach, FL) I would not recommend Tattoo Forever or Defiance Tattoo based on my direct experiences. Both visits left me disappointed, and because the same owner also operates Tattoo Zoo, I personally would not go there either--due to the overall lack of professionalism and the way situations were handled at his other shops. In January, my husband and I got matching tattoos at Tattoo Forever. Mine was done by Aaron, a newer artist (about 1.5 years of experience), and I was unhappy with the result. This was actually my 4th time at Tattoo Forever, so I came in as a loyal, returning customer and expected to be treated as such. Instead, it took a lengthy amount of time for the shop to even attempt to resolve the situation, and weeks before I was finally placed into contact with the owner, Pat ("Impala Pat" on Instagram). My appointment with Pat at Defiance Tattoo--my first time at that shop--was not scheduled until March. When I finally showed up for the arranged appointment, he was late, and I spent about 1.5-2 hours there only to realize he had no intention of following through. Instead of doing the tattoo as he had promised, he ultimately placed the blame back on me. At first glance, he said adding a missing letter would "fix" things--even though I had already explained I was unhappy with the entire piece. When I pointed out that the stencil he placed was crooked, he became defensive and, instead of troubleshooting solutions like he should have, spent more time trying to convince me to go to another artist. He even told me to "try them first" and then come back to him if it didn't work, which made it obvious he never intended to do the cover-up. After I left, he went further by trying to blame me for why the tattoo wasn't what I wanted--on top of all the manipulation and dismissive behavior I had already experienced. What frustrated me most was how I was treated by both shops. Tattoo Forever dragged out the process instead of resolving things quickly, and Pat, the owner, showed zero accountability when I finally met with him. As a returning customer, I was not valued or respected. And as a military spouse, I found his behavior especially disappointing--considering how strongly he markets himself as a veteran and "supporter of the military community." His actions didn't match his words. Between the lack of accountability, the delay in resolution, and the terrible customer service, this was one of the most unprofessional tattoo experiences I've ever had. I left not only disappointed, but disgusted. This review is long past due, but after all the mental exhaustion from dealing with this process, I'm only just now getting around to it. Ultimately, I'm writing it because I'm still bothered by how everything was handled and knew I needed to put it out publicly. I visited Tattoo's Forever in January 2013 for a cover up of 4 empty red hearts over my left side of my chest. When I walked in I was greeted by a very nice floor manager named Dan. He was very energetic and caring. It was a great feeling to get when your going to get permanent ink done on your body. I told Dan I wanted a wicked new school tattoo with mainly flowers for my cover up. So Dan let Albert know so he can get the drawing ready for when I come back. When I came back for my appointment Albert shows me two roses, just two plain roses. I was surprised because he has a very good portfolio with interesting drawings. So I told him I wanted a crazy wicked new school design and after a little bit he came back with nice hibiscus flowers and leaves. I agreed with it only because he was going to do bright wicked colors. So having this finalized the cost came to $400 w/ 10% Facebook discount equalling $360 which is kind of high for how small it was but he charged more for the covering up. So the process began and it was nice but obviously with pain. 3 hours later he is done and I was just in awe! Finally it was covered up with a little bit showing but your eyes had to search. I actually got a piercing also since they did a great job overall with the tattoo and service. WELL lets get to a week later... Finally the tattoo is healing nicely and I had a stranger point out my cover up. I was shocked and then more people could see the old tattoo shining through. I was devastated! Such a beautiful tattoo but not a good cover up. So I went back and it was a different guy at the front. He seemed less interested in helping me compared to Dan. Well I told him my situation and showed him and he lies right to my face " I can't see it." We'll guys I have a photo for you to prove I am not joking about this shenanigans. Anyways they said Albert doesn't get in till around 4pm so come back and talk to him about fixing the situation. I come back and guess what... Albert can't see me not even for one second to care for his tattoo he branded on me. He just started with a new client while I was there so I'm not sure to blame him 100% but the other floor guy for not letting Albert know ahead of time. I was pretty upset that I knew I was getting screwed. Let me tell you another reason why, its because I was visiting family in Florida for a couple weeks and that I live in Australia. I was coming back to Florida in 9 months. So I really didn't have time to just come back in a month... So the floor guy said that I should come back when I'm back in Florida (9 months) and they will fix it. They wouldn't give me a card of Alberts because they were "all out". So I have 3 more months till I get back to Florida and I am really debating on doing business with them. I may have made the mistake even giving them business in the first place. To sum this all up... Inconsistent customer service, no concern for after care from artist, and tattoo prices can be high. I would not recommend to fellow tatted friends. read more

I understand just getting a business together and the struggles that come but there were many things I had issues with: 1) The receptionist did not seem committed. She was more focused on her chicken strips than helping and did not have the bathroom stocked. Seems petty but, come on people. Also, when I was trying to discuss the tattoo with the artist another lady kept coming up to interrupt just to show stupid memes to the artist. No professionalism at all. 2) I wanted a black octopus with it inking the galaxy below. Well, it's awful. Once in the piercing room, Jordan explained the procedure each time to make me as comfortable as possible. After much research on the topic I recently decided to have my nipples pierced. I happened to speak to two ladies who'd had piercing experiences with Gentle Jordan here at Tattoos Forever and, since they were so highly complimentary of him, and because I had my nose pierced here years ago (by someone else) I figured why not. Tattoos Forever as a facility is always nice and clean and the folks who work there have never been anything but nice, upbeat and positive when I've visited. Jordan allowed me to ask questions prior to the procedure, and it was obvious that he is well-versed in his craft. He thoroughly answered every question I had and when it came time to pierce he let me know at each step of the way what was going to happen and gave me great instructions. Like most people, I suppose, I already had a preconceived notion in my head of what this piercing would feel like so I had already hyped myself to be ready for excruciating pain (thanks YouTubers!). I am pleased to report that, although like every piercing this one smarted initially, but only for a second, this piercing has honestly thus far been my least painful (after the fact) and I've had zero issues. I didn't bleed and my piercings aren't even showing any discharge! I have been quite amazed. I am extremely happy with my new piercings! This tattoo place sucks! I will never go back and I've lost faith in tattoo artists because the tattoo I got there was my 2nd botched tattoo that I've gotten. First off the guy at the front desk was a total douche and didn't seem to get what I wanted which was a small infinity love tattoo on my wrist. He made me feel stupid about the size and was not helpful enough in getting the sizing right. I pretty much went stupid since I was new to tattooing at the time and knew much of nothing, so I let him totally sway me off of what I wanted. I figured they were the professionals and knew better than I did, so I trusted their opinion and judgment over my own. Then he tried to overcharge me on the tattoo, but I talked him down $20 on it. When I told him what I did want to pay, which was a totally fair price, and the going rate for a tattoo like I was getting which only took 2 mins to do, he then made it out like my tattoo was going to be teeny tiny and suck for that much. I really should have left then, but I was so excited to get the tattoo because it was a special tattoo for me and my fiance and I drove an hour to the place....So then after I paid, a different artist than the one that ended up doing the tattoo drew it up and I found out that although it didn't seem to look all that bad at first I realized afterwards that it turned out to be a poor drawing and way too big for my wrist. It sticks all the way out on the side of my wrist and it's messed up on the lining in a couple of spots too. It bugs me every single day, every time I look at it. I'm going to need to do a cover up and have it all reworked with something else now. I know I didn't notice the inconsistencies with the tattoo till afterwards, so, I do take part of the blame for not taking better notice, but I trusted them all as professionals on this, was told it looked perfect, and told I would get a good quality tattoo and I didn't get that. I also feel like the artist that did it maybe should have payed more attention to the detail and realized it wasn't right. He's the professional artist and should be able to tell that stuff more so than me and its supposed to be a team effort. The artist also didn't talk much and seemed unfriendly. They were all a bunch of jackasses up there...it was a bad tattoo and experience for me when it was supposed to be a special tattoo and fun experience that turned out a mess I've had to live with ever since.
