It has remained one of my favorite pieces of art all these years later. So when I finally decided I was ready for my chef tattoo, he was the artist I wanted. I was thrilled when he responded to my inquiry with genuine enthusiasm. I could not be more pleased with what we created together. The theme was food plants--but not the food itself--so the piece includes tomato plants, rosemary, chamomile, basil, nasturtium, and some of the critters that live around them. The whole sleeve flows beautifully with the anatomy of my arm in a way that still kind of blows my mind. Later, I asked Kiel to create a memorial tattoo for my father and uncle. With just a few prompts, he designed a vibrant and deeply personal tribute to two of the best men I've ever known. Everything has healed beautifully. Kiel is also wonderful to sit with through long sessions. We end up talking about books, movies, video games, parenting, and the general chaos of trying to be adults in a strange world. The conversation makes the hours easier, and meaningful. He's a genuinely kind human being and an incredibly talented artist. His understanding of anatomy, movement, and color theory makes his work feel alive on the body. I would recommend him wholeheartedly to anyone looking for something distinctive and personal, especially if you're willing to trust a gifted artist to collaborate with you creatively. 10/10. I got my foot tattooed at this shop in 2013. It was a lily in remembrance of my mother who died…read morewhen I was eighteen surrounding my children's names. From the beginning the tattoo itched scabbed swelled and bled. It hurt and it looked bad. I went into the shop multiple times and no one could give me a clear answer. Messages on social media were ignored. Someone from the shop eventually suggested it might be an allergic reaction to metal in the red ink and gave me a home treatment plan with vitamin E, epson salt soaks and cocoa butter. I followed it for twenty weeks and my foot got worse. I was waking up with blood on my sheets from scratching in my sleep and people asked about it because it looked infected not because the tattoo looked good. I later moved to the West Coast and saw other tattoo artists who had zero connection to this shop. Multiple artists told me the work was done incorrectly and that poor technique and ink saturation were likely to blame. A dermatologist also confirmed it did not look like an allergy. The shop tried to say that other artists were probably trying to make them look bad but no one here even knows who they are and they had no reason to defend or criticize anyone in Pennsylvania. Sometimes mistakes happen. Most people understand that. What made this worse was that the shop refused to own anything. Instead they got frustrated that I was pointing out that something was wrong and treated it like an attack instead of a request for help. That reaction made the whole situation worse than it needed to be. It has now been thirteen years and my foot still itches daily, and splits open and bleeds randomly. I deal with it daily because the skin reacts constantly and that physical reminder is hard to ignore. For that reason I think about this shop every single day and not in a good way. Based on my experience I cannot recommend this place and I suggest staying far away.
