He loves being held and will lay in my arms for hours...Lloyd's foster told me it will take a special person to care for him because he needs tons of attention. He's always been a great with us, but he was getting more and more aggressive with our neighbors and other dogs we would meet on walks or when people would come over. He's a rescue and DNA testing revealed pit, boxer and rottweiler in him. After a few close run-ins, we were at a loss on how to handle him and always anxious when we'd take him out. We decided we needed professional help. Met one trainer who came to our house, charged us $200 to basically give us a sales pitch and didn't even bother to meet our dog - we knew he hasn't the guy. Fortunately, we found Karen's number and had a good feeling when we talked over the phone. We had a follow-up in-person intro session and knew soon into that lesson she was the one for us so we signed up for a 10 session plan. And we are so glad we did. It's truly remarkable what she taught our dog and perhaps just as much, us. She always had well-thought out lesson plans that she would adapt to focus on our areas of concern. She took a holistic approach and spent a lot of time discussing tools & strategies with us that were perhaps just as helpful as the specific obedience training she did with the dog. She was always caring and humane, but also pragmatic and focused on results. By the end of the sessions, we were able to take him to the pet store where he was well-behaved around other dogs there. That was something I didn't think would ever be possible with him. Of course, he's still a big, intimidating dog. He's not a golden retriever, we still need to pay attention with him. But now we feel like we have what we need to avoid or de-escalate situations that before would have blown up on us. For "graduation", we did an outdoor hike with some big male dogs he just met. It was wonderful to see him able to enjoy the walk and be around other dogs without his hair constantly standing up or barking ferociously. Karen really knows what she's doing. When breeding F1 puppies - the puppy gets one set of genes from each parent and the outcome can vary widely in a single litter in coat type, size and temperament. She is selling Merle Havapoos - neither Havanese or Poodle naturally carry the merle gene. They will try to say it's a recessive gene - it's not. Merle is introduced from another breed that naturally carries a Merle gene. When breeding for color, breeders will breed double Merle dogs which lead to health issues. Selling these mix breed dogs for $3,000 is crazy. This is how much I paid from an ethical purebred breeder who health tests all her dogs through OFA (which is the standard of health testing - and saying they are health tested by genetic testing or at the vet or through embark alone are sales tactics), offers free holter monitor testing for all her puppy buyers when puppies reach adulthood, embarks her puppies free of charge. Her dogs are proven through conformation titles and sport titles. I can meet the parents of my dogs (and have). I can look at our breed registry and track my dogs lineage. Most importantly my dogs didn't come from a mill. This business brags that she gets her puppies from "trusted USDA-licensed breeders" which simply means she's sourcing puppies from breeders who sell puppies site unseen, sell puppies to pet stores and who have a large quantity of breeding females. USDA standards are minimum care standards, not quality standards. They can have dozens or hundreds of dogs, breed frequently and keep dogs in kennel buildings and still pass USDA inspection. Many puppy mills are USDA licensed. Ethical breeders do not sell their puppies to pet stores. They want to vet their potential puppy buyers and make sure their dogs are going to homes that are a good fit. No ethical breeders breed doodles. It goes against the breed club for Poodles. No good breeder would allow their high quality poodle stock or the breed being mixed in, to make doodle mixes. This means that these parent dogs are being sourced from unethical breeders as well and it's poor breeding stock being used. Then, OFA health testing is not being done on these dogs. So people are mixing a lot of unknown genetics in for profit. They are not breeding with structure, health and temperament in mind. Ask about OFA health testing on both parents - they should be able to provide results on the OFA website from both parents. OFA has different tests for different breeds - please research what each breed should be tested for and request to see those results. Doodles should have tests for both breeds. Ask about registration - all dogs should be AKC registered if they are a purebred dog. Doodle registration is meaningless and anything other than UKC or AKC registration is a sales tactic. AKC registration alone does not equal quality. It just verifies pedigree eligibility. I would not consider a purebred dog that could not be registered through AKC, but just because they are AKC registered does not mean they are ethically produced. There are "designer registries" like: Continental Kennel Club (CKC -- not the Canadian one), American Canine Hybrid Club, Various doodle association. These registries do not enforce strict breeding standards, do not require meaningful health testing and mainly exist to create paperwork for marketing. Ask to meet the mother of the puppy you're interested in. Ask about tittles on the parents of the dogs that were bred. Ask about how many litters the mom has had.

He emphasized that despite me being a completely new owner, the cats themselves are not allowed back. What??! These are ragdolls that require regular grooming, and it's already difficult to find groomers accepting new clients. To be met with this kind of hostility and zero compassion is heartless. I wouldn't bring my beloved pets (or frankly any animal) to a place that treats them or their people, this way. We decided to foster some cats so the organization we're working with us sent us two adult cats…read morethat had been living in another foster situation with a crazy cat lady who had 7 cats. When they arrived, both the cats were absolutely disgustingly filthy. We had an adoption event the next day and there is no way anyone would have adopted these cats. One of them was mangy, had matted dreadlocks and smelly. The other was dusty with a ton of dead hair underneath his coat. We called every single animal groomer in Tucson and they were all booked out for 2 weeks at least. We called Pawz and Clawz after quickly searching Craigslist as a last resort. We called on a Friday afternoon around 2pm and Caroline, after hearing our story rearranged her schedule for the next day and told us she would be at our house at 8.00 AM the next day. 8.00 AM the next day rolls around and so does the Pawz and Clawz van, right at our doorstep! Caroline and Russell are amazingly good with cats. Because the cats were just delivered to us, they were so scared and had been hiding under the bed since last night. Russell came in and helped us get them out and proceeded to do their magic. Highly highly recommended!!
