This is one tried and tested Indian restaurant and my favourite in Canterbury…read more They have the most delicious food, the bar is quite good. The service is exceptional. I have been here with the girls, the boyff, a group of raucous rugby types, family meals the list goes on. The quality of the meat is very good indeed. The decor is lovely and contemporary. There is a car park for the restaurant that you can always park in. I genuinely have not had a bad time here or a bed meal here either. I would always pick this Indian over any other in Canterbury.

Monday it's half off for students and I believe it's 20% off the rest of the week. The menu is pretty extensive and very reasonably priced. I'm a big fan of the tikka masala, and my friends really enjoy the chicken bhuna and the vegetarian options. The restaurant itself is very cozy and nicely decorated. The papadams come with a generous sampling of chutney and dips, and the portions are nice without being overwhelming. I would've liked a few more hunks of chicken in my curry, but the sauce itself is quite good. The rice presentation is very attractive, flecked with color. The naan is delicious and served hot and fresh. The drinking glass sizes could be bigger -- expect to need at least one refill and maybe two. Overall, a nice local Indian food experience and well worth giving a shot.

I have heard a few people describe this place as the best Indian restaurant in Brighton. Whilst I…read moredon't think I've eaten in enough to warrant corroborating that statement, I can say I ate here recently and it was pretty damn good! What I particularly like about Shahi Tandoori is that it is split into two quite separate spaces, one side is the restaurant and one is the takeaway. This is genius! There's nothing more annoying than people wandering through while you're eating to pick up their order, letting a draft in and spoiling the ambiance of the restaurant. Well Shahi has it covered. Food-wise, the side dishes are all great...I particularly like the Bombay Aloo, the Sag Paneer and the Onion Bhajis- delicious! I can also recommend the Vegetable Balti and Chicken Tikka Masala. Since this place is just around the corner, we often pop down to pick up a few side dishes to go with a home-cooked curry and they never look at us funny, despite our paltry order! I like them.

You can never have enough good quality Indian restaurants (so says I), without doubt Shahi Tandoori…read moredeserves to be added to that category. It's located in an odd place at the bottom of Ditchling Rise, because of the location you might never have come this way, I really would recommend it though. 'Shahi' is a little bit cheaper then the more central Indian restaurants (and take aways, they do both). The food is also of a very good quality; I had the rogan josh and passanda, both of which I could eat 7 days a week. The area isn't the nicest, the decor is a little dated, but it's a fantastic place filled with Indian charm (and food).
