With a name like Tasty Indian Pizza, one expects boldness--perhaps even brilliance. Instead, what I encountered at this establishment was a clumsy attempt at marrying two culinary traditions that demand precision and respect, but received neither. Let us begin with the setting: a brightly lit, flavorless strip mall dining room devoid of charm. The walls are bare, the counter service curt, and the entire operation has the clinical energy of a takeout hub rather than a place where food is given the reverence it deserves. The Curry Paneer Pizza, which arrived in a grease-stained box, was more experiment than experience. The crust--doughy and overworked--collapsed beneath a tide of overly sweet curry sauce that bore more resemblance to jarred tikka than anything freshly prepared. The paneer was rubbery, the onions undercooked, and the cheese... tragically dominant. Mozzarella does not blend well with cumin and garam masala--it smothers them. As for the Tandoori Chicken Pizza, I had hoped it would redeem the meal. It did not. The chicken itself was dry, the seasoning muted, and the sauce watery. This was not a fusion of cultures; this was a collision. I will grant them one mercy: the garlic crust was genuinely pleasant, crisped nicely and aromatic. Willing to explain anything to me I had a question about. Offered suggestions. Kudos! We ordered Indian garlic bread, and two large pizzas (one half Dhoom/half Agneepath and the other one half hero/half Khal Nayak). Got our order relatively quickly... I'd say about 15 minutes which is not bad at all. And our pizza was fully cooked. Dough was perfect. And we got a big bonus-- complimentary tandoori chicken wings to try. Thank you!! Our favorite of the pizza we tried was between the Agneepath and the Dhoom. Very good pizzas. The hero we wish we would have asked for it spicy (they suggested it, but I didn't want to alter it on the first go around). Next time we will probably ask for them to go a little lighter on the cilantro... We love cilantro, but at times it was the only flavor we got. The Yelp hiatus has been broken! Dear me-oh-my, it's taken an Indian Pizza place to break my silence. People have told me about an Indian pizza place in Berkeley but but I doubted their suggestions. I didn't want to drive all the way out there for an Indian Pizza that I was full heartily suspicious about. But alas! Fairfield has opened a flavor that many others would wonder too! Have you ever sat down and wondered what would happen if you took naan bread, slathered it in butter chicken sauce, top it with chicken, and other veggies? Well, my friend, it's heavenly. Easy to eat, great for those that haven't tried Indian food, and relatively light on the pocket (There's a coupon on the back of their current menu for a large). They've got so many other flavors of pizza here that you're constantly taunted to come back and try another pie. Note to self: Limit myself to one pizza per week. 'Cause if I don't, I'd probably come here like three times (wish a Snorlax would pop up for me here). I was curious with the Hero Pizza (Butter Chicken) and their Spicey Butter Chicken, so I went half and half large. Myself, I prefer spice - however, my husband, he's the latter. The service there was super nice. The guys were social and the young lady at the register was friendly. You can tell that they're still trying to iron out their "Just opened" kinks but I'm pretty sure they'll get the ball rolling. The cooks were constantly prepping and baking (which came to show how many people have ordered within the ten minutes of my wait). People came and went, phone ordered, and online ordered. Pizza delivery guy was there one minute, gone the next, and back again. The store is small. There's no indoor eating but there it a bench inside for those that have to wait. But dear God, when I received the pizza the smell was so tantalizing I honestly wanted to eat a slice on the way home (we were also poke stop hunting). When we got home, we were kinda confused with which side was original vs the spicy flavor. With a nice long look, the side with the jalapeno peppers was mine and the other half was my hubbies. I LOVED IT. I added some dry peppers to the top and I was in a heaven. The spice was amazing and the flavor was awesome for a pizza. My husband (surprisingly) preferred the spicy Butter Chicken. They have so much more than just Indian Pizza. They also provide the typical Italian flavors, they have Indian subs (***), Indian appetizers, and a small selection of sodas. BTW, the pokestop is too far from the joint. I bought the pizza yesterday, posted it on Facebook a minute after getting it, and have been telling everyone about it since then. But now... YUMMY YUM YUM YUMMY!!!!!! Oh my goodness what a find! We went yesterday and ordered a large. Half 3 idiots half Hero and got a side of Indian Garlic Bread. Every single bite was amazing. I have never said this about food before. I hate bell peppers, onions and tomatoes on my pizza. The Hero has all of those ingredients and more and I have to say that I can never go back to Italian pizza again!!!! It was flavorful and the chicken remained as juicy as ever. All of the ingredients are under cheese, but boy oh boy this cheese is so tasty! I barely made it home without having a slice! The next morning my mom and sister had a slice and they have decided that we are having this pizza for dinner tonight! I had some for lunch and almost fell out like a Southern Church Lady. You combine two of my favorite foods into one and you have a five star hit on your hands. I love Indian food and I love pizza, so naturally I would love Tasty Indian Pizza, right? Well yes, and no. The pizza here is great. In fact maybe the best crust around. Soft, crispy, crunchy. I could probably eat this stuff plain and it would be good enough. Unfortunately that's almost what you have to do. I don't get that warm 'n fuzzy feeling here when trying to order a Vegan pie. Not everyone working here knows what is and isn't Vegan. The first gentlemen I spoke to appeared to be a manager or someone in charge. He suggested the Saag and Pav Bhaji as the two best choices if you're trying to stay dairy free. Since their regular red pizza sauce contains parmesan and most of their other sauces seem to contain dairy as well. He did offer to make a red sauce without cheese but I didn't want to bother him. The next time I stopped in there was a young lady that didn't understand why I didn't want red sauce or cheese on my pizza. They could save everyone some headache by placing a "V" next to the pizzas that can be made Vegan, or at the very least listing their ingredients so that everyone can make their own informed decisions. As it turned out, neither of these pizzas need cheese or red sauce to taste spectacular. The Saagar is particular tasty. They are more than happy to sell you a half and half pizza but I will most likely only order the Saagar from now on. It's one of the single best pizzas in the Bay Area. The Pav Bhaji is a little on the dry side, probably due to the lack of cheese. I usually gussie it up at home with Cocksauce or ranch and it's good to go Of course at home is where you'll be eating it since this isn't a dine in restaurant. It's strictly carry-out or delivery. This is fine by me if it keeps the prices low. Their "grand opening specials" that they've been having for the past 5-6 months since they opened are a great deal. You'll usually walk away with two large pizzas for $20 something dollars. Their regular price as printed on the menu would make me less likely to visit very often. They don't have any dine-in tables so this is definitely a take-out pizza spot but that's completely fine because the price and quality is on point. It works out so the staff can focus on putting all that love in your pizza ;) I had no idea what to order since this was my first time having Indian pizza. Raman was all around a down to earth person and helpful in making my final decision. He even came out on his own to the parking lot to give me chutney to try out with the pizza! For my first time I chose a large pizza with two different flavors. At the moment they have a special of any large pizza for $10.99. "3 Idiots" Spicy butter chicken - I couldn't wait and I had a slice before I drove home! This joyful creation is everything you expect with the well admired butter chicken. Your mouth will encounter a creamy curry sensation that is well rounded with flavorful bites of butter chicken and hints of fresh cilantro. It has the perfect amount of spiciness that doesn't overpower. At your request they will gladly lessen the spiciness for you. This was my FAVORITE one out of the two! "Agneepath" Garlic tandoori- This one has white sauce that doesn't steal the show like some pizzas do. It shares the stage with the appetizing tandoori chicken and touches of pineapple that surprisingly works. The pizzas here are truly TASTY without being greasy or excessive on the sodium. The dough that is used to plate the aromatic toppings is thin perfect and executes the Indian pizza well! Might I also add the pizza crust and chutney sauce is also good together. Overall the prices are fair and I like how they have varying sizes of pizza from personal to large. Besides Indian pizza they also have; the Italian pizza that we all know (ex pepperoni and more), subs sandwiches, and appetizers. Since it was my first time and I wanted to share, I went with the butter chicken pizza. Absolutely delicious, and I'm more happy my family was scared of it because that meant more for me. Absolute flavor bomb of butter chicken, cilantro, tomato, and cheese on a pizza crust. The small size was enough to feed me for two meals. I originally gave Indian Pizza two stars because of the incident I detailed below. Ive decided to update from my previous review because I believe in being fair. I do like their pizza so I went in again and was pleased with my order. This time I had the Paneer and the butter chicken and both tasted good. I wish they were a little more daring with their Indian flavors, because that what makes this pizza special. And i wish they had a fresh mint chutney not that strange white sauce. I've upgraded from two stars to four because aside from what happened below, which was fairly ridiculous, their pizza is good. Previous review: Wow. Had a serious wtf moment here at Tasty Indian Pizza. Seeing the reviews, and loving Indian food, I was sooo looking forward to eating here. I ordered a large half Pukar and half Vaar Zaara pizza, looking forward to those righteous Indian flavors. Got the pizza out to the car, and couldn't wait! Tried one slice of each. Hmmmm. Ok the Pukar, the side with paneer, no really strong flavors there, but that's ok because many of the ingredients are pizza standards. But...the second one...tasted like an average pizza. Nothing special. It was supposed to have mint chutney and cilantro on it. Absolutely none. So I went back in the store. Oh. Says the woman behind the counter...we're out of cilantro today. What? And the mint chutney? "I guess I forgot to put it on." What!? Do you think you could have told me this about the cilantro when I ordered? Unbelievable. Talk about not giving a damn. She gave me three little containers of runny white (?) mint chutney with barely any mint flavor to pour over my pizza. No words. Except WTF?! read more

We ordered a large half tandoori and half butter chicken. It was good, but to many chunks of green peppers and onions under the cheese. I gave them 3 stars, as next time we will try something else. Definitely has flavor. read more

Pizza, the p in world peace, and darling of many nations alike that comes in so many different styles. The one who has sparked the famous "pineapples on pizza" war. From New York thin crust for those on the go or Chicago deep dish to be enjoyed through bonding with friends and family, you can honestly never go wrong with pizza. I love Indian food and I love pizza so when I heard of this place, it was meant to be. I was a little skeptical when I saw the menu but that got shut down once I got my pizza and tried it. This probably will be one of my go-to places for cheat days or when I can't decide between Indian food or pizza. This place replaced the old Domino's that I used to walk to from my childhood and is rather small. They have made a few style changes, but kept the bench for those waiting for their pizza, but there's not many places to sit and enjoy your pizza inside. Most people order by phone or order at the cashier and pick up their order and go. Man-wise they usually have 2-3 workers there at a time and pizzas usually tops take 30 - 45 minutes. Onto the menu! So the menu is completely Indian style and while they do have the regular pizza toppings, they really do make an effort to showcase the Indian side more both in branding and in their palate from the garlic bread to the chicken, think if Domino's got a really great Indian makeover but the dough also got better. My tops are the 3 idiots spicy butter chicken (white sauce is more popular but they also have a red sauce), and dhoom tandoori chicken pizza. My friend enjoyed the butter chicken and said this would be his new hotspot for a while as well. The spicy butter chicken is a bit more mild than tandoori chicken but still very flavourful. The dough is really puffy and bouncy, it reminded me of a peach butt because I kept poking it and it would spring back. Tandoori chicken kind of reminds me of hot cheetos for some reason, but honestly, the chicken was moist and tender with plenty of toppings, they really don't skimp on the toppings though. The cheese when warm was also super stringy and just everything you want in for your pizza. I honestly was weirded out with pineapples and jalepenos and the combos they had but this pizza was a game-changer for me. I will be back to try the garlic bread/chicken/sholay shole and Agneepath Garlic Tandoori Pizza! Tip: I checked through the pictures and their smalls are really small and a bit more skimpy so I would spring for the medium or large. Pizzas are pricy at $20 - 30 a pop but so worth it, I would go back in a heartbeat. All in all, a spunky little splurge but def worth it once in a while.
