My favourite chippy! The chips are just so yummy and a large portion is just over a pound so good value for money.

Acting as both neighbourhood takeaway and classy, indoor Indian restaurant, this family-owned…read moreeatery offers high quality Asian cuisine at remarkably reasonable prices. On my most recent visit, my family and I ate in and we all had a very pleasant dining experience. The waiter service is very efficient and the staff don't try to rush you out of your seat, as they may do in other independent restaurants. The Chicken Korma I ordered was mild and creamy, yet still flavourful and filling and the restaurant's menu offered a very impressive range of authentic Indian and Bengali dishes. Pretty much the only thing I didn't like about the place was the odd, dark and dingy atmosphere inside. Low-level lighting combined with darkly coloured walls and furniture made it a tad difficult to read the menus and seemed to give off a sort of unappealing, backstreet vibe as opposed to a romantic ambience which could have easily been achieved with a little more light or colour.

It's also pretty reasonably priced and caters well for vegetarians, should you have any of those in your number. The staff are friendly and the service is excellent: Rice is served to you, for example, which feels, in the relatively recent history of British Curry, like a quaint touch as it's not something you see everywhere these days. I think that's what I like about this place the most - it hasn't changed all that much over the years. If you fancy a simple, well-cooked meal in cheerful surroundings then I recommend it. The music they play is pretty standard Indian background music that must be on a tape loop. One song sounds like a version of The Irish Rover by The Pogues, so listen out for that. I wonder if Shane MacGowan has eaten here?

Being a Brummie, curries, like moaning, is in my DNA. One…read morething about which I'll moan is that the best curries in the second city are supposedly to be found in Brum's balti triangle. But, for my money, contrary to tired opinion, the best are located along Boldmere Road, Sutton Coldfield. It may not tow the line of untested, trotted-out 'wisdom', but you have to go further than central Brum to beat Sutton's samosa strip. Among the (unlicensed) restaurants vying for attention, one will inevitably be a favourite, even if the ranking is based on pretty spurious, subjective criteria. Shaban happens to be mine. That's just how it is. Maybe it's as simple as offering a Christmas menu with the dish, and I quote, 'turkey chicken tikka'. The menu - a genuine page-turner - is extensive, although it retains enough individuality to make it distinct from neighbours, which in turn retain, in fairness, their own distinct identity. Above all, though, it always manages to 'hit the spot' and avoid the 'ho-hum' response sometimes meeting any deviation from tried-and-trusted favourite meals. There's nothing worse than a curry satisfying with all the busted-flush of burnt cheese on toast. Perhaps what projects Shaban to the top of the pile is the staff. They are always courteous but, if they recognise you as a regular, they really go the extra mile, from walking you out of the venue to hold open the door, or even carrying your takeaway to the car. You may even get the odd short on the house. For all that, they are extremely busy in a popular venue requiring pre-booking at weekends. If you're drinking bottled beer, you may want to think about bringing your own opener rather than wait for an otherwise attentive waiter. The alternative is waiting two or three minutes as a chilli takes its toll

The food is perfect as always, with the food always reaching the highest standard as always, I highly suggest this place to anyone looking for an authentic curry.

Who doesn't like going out for a curry with your mates?…read more After working our way through the many curry houses Boldmere offers my husband and I thought it was about time we ticked Regards off the list. We asked a couple of friends to come out with us and by the time the day had arrived we had grown to a group of 10. We arrived a few Saturday's ago with our own booze in tow and our bellies wanting a stuffing. The restaurant was already heaving and we were told we would have a wait of about 10 minutes. We didn't mind as they had a spacious seating area and they handed us bottle openers and glasses so we could start our evening of merriment. The night continued with good food and fairly good service it was just a shame about the volume of the place. The layout is open plan so whatever size your party is you're just not going to get any privacy. There are calmer curry houses nearby which will just edge out Regards, however I'm sure we will go back but only if's earlier or mid-week so we can have a conversation without shouting and maybe feel a bit of an atmosphere.

As you enter Regards you are greeted by a comfy seating area and a polite member of staff approached us straight away to confirm our booking. Unlike some similar restaurants in the area, there is plenty of space for your party to relax and dine. The temperature was very hot as the heating was on full pelt and it was a bit stuffy. But the service was great with staff all too happy to help. There is a bar but you can bring your own! There is plenty of food options and the chicken balti sag was beautiful! We had to wait to pay the bill but all in all I would definitely go back!
