We sat down and reviewed the menu and found some cuisine that was very unique to Uzbek to share and our server informed us most of our selections were not available. That took a bit of wind out of our sails for a moment until we regrouped. We decided to start with a sampler of samsa- beef, chicken, pumpkin with tomato garlic sauce. We were all very surprised that the pumpkin was everyone's favorite with the chicken as the 2nd most flavorful. We followed that with baba ganoush with pitas. Everyone enjoyed the unique flavor of the tahini and lemon in the dip. For our main course we ordered beef shish kabobs with rice, salad and fried sliced potatoes. The beef was flavored with cumin and chili spices which worked well. I would have thought it would have a sauce but surprisingly to me, the dried spices on the fried beef were outstanding! The dressing on the salad with the rice and beef was a great combo. The decor of the dining was amazing. One wall has the name of the restaurant and holes molded out of clay or plaster with lights and clay vases on each opening. See photo. The opposite wall had plates with names of prominent cities in Uzbekistan. This place will be a hit for a long time with the attention to detail and the unique cuisine. Looking forward to my next visit when I am in Pittsburgh!

I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great cheap meal (my kind of place exactly). I tried the chicken over rice meal, which also came with fries and a side salad. The chicken over rice was delicious. The rice was well cooked, and the chicken was pretty tender. Well seasoned without being excessive. I loved the creamy white sauce they topped the dish with. Sooo good. And, great portion too. Enough to fill up a very hungry guy. The fires were also pretty great. A smaller portion, but still great (it's free fries). They top them off with a bit of that delicious sauce as well. Would have liked them to be a tad bit crispier, but still very solid. Finally, the side salad. It was simple, and nothing too crazy, but I appreciated them going out of their way to add some vegetables in. The chickpeas and beans were an awesome addition. The sauce for the salad want my favorite, but still, major props to them! All in all, I really liked this place. It greatly satisfied my hunger and they serve amazing food. 100% check this place out for a quick cheap meal.

Luckily, they do make some very good food, and I was pretty satisfied with my order -- although, it wasn't quite as good as Samovar. I tried their chicken kebab, Uzbek bread, and Napoleon cake. The kebab was quite good. They serve the meat with a huge serving of onions in the side. The meat itself also came in a huge portion, with lots of big chunks. The meat is pretty well seasoned. However, I'd say the meat is also a bit on the fatty side, which I'm not a fan of, and I would have liked it to be cooked a bit more. The Uzbek bread is always one of my favorites to get on the site at halal restaurants. It was very, very good. A great portion for just $3. Soft on the inside, a nice core on the outside. You can make a mini sandwich with the onions, meat, and bread if you want, and it's delicious. Finally, the Napoleon cake was very good. Usually, the cakes often taste like the refrigerator at restaurants, but this cake tasted fresh and delicious. A decent amount of cream and fluffiness. Very good overall, but not overpoweringly sweet, which I also like. All in all, I recommend this place. I'll miss Samovar, but this spot does a good job of serving similar delicious meals. Will try some red meat next time!

The meat truly was succulent, tender, and flavorful. I really enjoyed the pickled vegetables on the side. My guy also loved the dish he ordered, which I believe was called the Meat Plate #2. Let's not forget the hours: this place is open 24/7 except on Wednesdays! Service is also great, with the staff being friendly and accommodating. He explained the menu to us and made sure to tell us about wait times for dishes that would take longer. Ambience was also pleasant, and the restaurant is clean and a bit more spacious than it appears on the outside. Highly recommend checking out this halal establishment.

But, the food is still pretty alright. I tried the Moroccan cookies, the baklava, the lamb gyro sandwich, and the hummus. Originally, I had ordered basbousa, but they were out of it. So, to make up for it, the gave me the cookies and some hummus (more than enough, so thank you!) The cookies themselves were probably my favorite part of the meal. They were coated nicely with powdered sugar and had a slight date flavor, a grainy texture, and were overall quite good. The hummus was kind of disappointing. It had a strange acidity to it. Honestly, it just didn't take that fresh or creamy. There also wasn't any pits served with it. The lamb gyro was also just alright. I had ordered it without lettuce, but it came with lettuce anyways. The meat was fine, not too tender or tough, but probably also not the highest quality. Pita seemed not homemade. Lots of vegetables. Sauce was okay, a little creamy, but not too much. The baklava was not worth buying, in my opinion. It definitely tasted storebought and not made in house. It was stale and quite flavorless. No crunch, no nuttiness, very dry. No syrup. Not that good. I probably won't be returning to this place for the cooked food. But, the market itself is really nice, so I may come back for that.

I am actually quite surprised they combined pizza and Middle Eastern food under one roof, but that's pretty cool. I tried food from bath menus. So, I tried the the calzone and the Arabic style chicken shawarma. The chicken shawarma was very good, and I definitely recommend it. Not as good as Omar's but still great. Portion was awesome. The chicken was a tad dry but the garlic sauce balanced it out. That sauce was insanely good and garlicky. Standard wrap casing, a little flimsy. It also came with fries and a little pickled salad. All the vegetables were crispy and refreshing (cucumbers, carrots and beets I believe). Fries went really well with the garlic sauce too. Decent crisp. The calzone was pretty underwhelming. It was undercooked and pretty much all white. The cheese wasn't the best quality I believe. A tad soggy. I'd recommend skipping it, but the price is good. All in all, a fine spot. Great for the Mediterranean food, not so much for the pizza.
