    These were delicious

This place brought me back to Yelp after a review hiatus. Child...this place got some nerve lmao. Me and some friends met in Philly for dinner because this place came highly recommended. Our reservation was Saturday evening and it was completely empty, so I'm thinking ..bet..we about to get amazing service and great food since it's just us. WRONG! 1. The waiter took forever to come to the table and didn't feel any kind of way bout it. 2. Drink prices were absolutely insane for the type of restaurant, $22 for a "Long Island" and the waiter admitted they use rail. He also said none of the towers were available because he didn't know how to make them. I opted for a gin & tonic and they didn't have that or club soda. 3. Majority of the menu was not available. No oxtail or ingredients for the egg roll particularly. 4. I asked for the manager who was not present and the waiter said he was in charge. I asked him to compensate for the lackluster experience by requesting a round of free shots for the table and he said no lmao. No apology. No free appetizers. Straight carried 5. A Caesar salad has romaine lettuce, they brought it out with iceberg lettuce and tomatoes with dressing on the side. This place only has two stars from me because my food was pretty good. Took forever to come out, but good. The dinner rolls were amazing. Mac and cheese wasn't bad, just too much pepper. The rest of the staff was amicable and they even changed the music for us. I would not come back here because they lack professionalism and organization. I can't imagine how it is on a busy day. People must be use to mediocre service and lack of options because there is absolutely no way this business can remain successful operating like that.

I mean we are from Nyc traveling for the roots picnic looking for great vibes and services. We found this brunch spot last minute. Read the reviews. Looked and seems like a good time. Thats it... the aesthetics and music is on point but the food service is not. If you're on a time frame this is not the place. We've waited over 30 minutes for the establishment to acknowledge us and seat us. And almost 2hrs to be served. Food music and drinks are good but confusing orders and service time is not

I'm only giving this one star because I have to give it a rating. The food was absolutely disgusting! The greens were SALTY. The fried fish had no flavor. The sweet potatoes tasted like straight vanilla extract. The chicken wings were also SALTY and tasted like old grease.. and the Mac and cheese had no flavor .. just cheese and pepper. We are HIGHLY disappointed and STILL hungry. I wouldn't even give this food to my dogs. YUCK!

Upon arrival, the reservation/seating situation was a little confusing, but eventually we were able to sit, and were helped right away. The food was really good... I had the Corporate Thuggin AKA fish shrimp and grits. Compliments to the chef cause it was immaculate! I'd suggest a better speaker system for the DJ cause it was kinda hard to hear anyone while talking or trying to order your food. Outside of that, our server or the one that eventually stayed with us for the remainder of our time was great, s/o to her! I'd return for this meal.

Celebrated a 30th birthday here on a Saturday. The restaurant is located on a busy street in West Philly and there is only street parking available. The inside of the restaurant is minimally decorated but looks cute. There is limited seating but there seems to be a lounge area upstairs. The menu prices are reasonable (entrees ranged between $15-$40) We had a party of 13 people and the restaurant/ staff were accommodating. The menu is not big but has good food selections. I ordered the whiting w/ 2 sides (Mac n cheese and greens). The whiting and Mac n cheese were delicious but the greens were salty. My friend said the salmon entree was tasty and so was the the chicken and waffles. Overall a decent experience but one suggestion is the place needs a deep cleaning as the seating chairs and menus were not clean.

I love this place, the food is delicious. The soul food reminds me of down south cooking. Everybody who works there is so helpful and friendly. This is the perfect gram pic spot, it's beautiful & hookah be poppin.

This was my first time going here during the pandemic! I've had only the buffalo shrimp in the past! This time I called my order in and my food was prepared fast. I waited in the car. My initial concern was why no one called me to stay my order was completed instead of me going inside be exporting a few ppl waiting inside. Although ppl was wearing mask. I don't recall seeing the staff wearing a mask. Now let's get onto the good!! Hands down I enjoyed everything! I ordered the buffalo shrimp, grilled salmon, macaroni and cheese and cabbage although I got yams instead and didn't notice til I got back in the car. Anyways, the MAC was warm cheesy and full of flavor . The yam was cooked just how my nana would so good. The salmon was a perfect size and grilled to perfection the platter came with a soft buttered garlic roll. The shrimp was fried nicely with a tasteful buffalo/ honey sauce! I was so happy that the food was good and tasty!! Yes I'd recommend... call ahead and wear your mask!

**UPDATE 7/8/18** I dined in the restaurant today and everything in my mind is a work in progress. Not quite as decorative or opulent as shown on FYI 6 ABC' but nice chairs and lighting. My server was friendly and attentive. I received my order in a timely manner although the restaurant was full and the to go side pumping out meals. Great job! 5 Stars for that! But hold on....The lollipop lamb chops were grilled to perfection however like the Mac and cheese very salty. I got an instant headache! I took some home for another opinion. I just said, 'here are my leftovers' no further comment. Later I was told 'the food was good but too salty'. The cabbage was not salty, all the food was good but proceed with caution. Make sure you are up to date on your high blood pressure medicine! **ORIGINAL REVIEW***This restaurants grand opening was listed for over a week ago and shown on FYI 6 ABC. I looked on the website to find the hours and location in West Philadelphia and they appear to be open. I arrived at the restaurant approximately 2:30 in the afternoon on Sunday, April 21, 2018 to only find the restaurant was not open for business. Not only was the new space closed so was the old or original space. The hours show they're supposed to be open every day up until at least 10 PM. Maybe it was just free advertisement on the Nto get people to come out. The windows had brown paper on the windows so you cannot see through them. I will try again at a later date to see if they are open but, if this is how business will be conducted I can't imagine me coming back. No sign on the door, no voicemail, no notification whatsoever regarding the status of restaurant.

I heard about Tasties after two close friends of mine went and said that they enjoyed their food. Upon arriving, I wasn't aware of the location but didn't mind as I found no problem finding parking and it's a great touch for the area. There should be more businesses in areas like this to help bring in revenue. I love the aesthetic of the restaurant with the colors inside of the chairs and such, but it definitely could use some work. Keep in mind, if your entire party is not present then you cannot be seated due to the time limit on the table. This is completely understandable and not an issue. They want to make sure you get your allotted time to eat and enjoy the experience. If you come for brunch on Saturday and Sunday, you will be charged an entrance fee of $20. The $20 comes with a mimosa. It is not bottomless, just one mimosa. I don't think this is worth it because like I said it's one mimosa. That charge comes on your bill afterwards and our waitress told us in advance before seating. To eat, I ordered the shrimp and grits and the stuffed French toast. The shrimp and grits was good, but too salty. My three friends sent their dish back! The stuffed french toast was bomb AF! I definitely finished that plate. My two stars goes to the music and decor of the seating and menus. The music made me feel like I was at a concert. I understand it's supposed to be a party atmosphere for brunch but it was too loud for the space they have. To compare, at Vesper (where they have bottomless mimosas), the music is a little loud but the space is bigger so you can still hear and talk to your friends. Here, the music was louder than Vesper. My friends and I could barely hear each other talk. The chairs at Tasties weren't comfortable either. The high top chair at the front had something sharp sticking out and the chair I sat in for brunch was hard as rocks despite the cushion being on. The drink menu had nice writing (and high prices) but it was flimsy and dirty. They definitely should replace them with better material. I would love to support again but hopefully they do something about the sound, menus and decor.

Turkey Wing Platter with Mac & cheese and Cabbage
    Lady X.

Order Tasties for the 1st time through UberEats. I order Baked Turkey Wing Platter with Mac & Cheese and Cabbage. Platter offered big portions and smelled good. I would've gave a 4 star rating, but everything besides the Cabbage was a bit over seasoned and salty.. So for me it was decent meal. I might give Tasties a try again.. Who Knows ??

Yams where nasty, mac n cheese with fake cheese, salmon was burnt at the bottom, rice was not favorable waste of $29

First and foremost, I am a big supporter of black businesses especially black businesses ran by women but my experience wasn't the best. Overall... the restaurant is stunning from the chandeliers to the accent colors but I felt really ridiculous eating at a restaurant with plastic utensils. The drinks were great, the food was okay but the customer service needs major improvement. In despite of our waitress being a little inebriated, she was nice and we still tipped and made the best out of the dining experience. Would I ever return? Probably for the drinks. DISCLAIMER: IT'S CASH ONLY!!!

I read reviews and they were somewhat mixed, but I put my faith in the Elites, who were on point. I ordered the fried fish, mac and cheese, and candied yams. The portions were enormous and more than I could eat alone. My daughter ordered the same sides, but had the bbq chicken bites, and an extra side of seafood salad. My fish was not greasy at all, and the cornmeal crust was light and crispy. It wasn't over seasoned and was delicious. The cinnamon and nutmeg in the candied yams were well balanced and reminiscent of a southern Thanksgiving dinner... a little sweet, but yummy nonetheless. The macaroni and cheese was also as Thanksgiving worthy and beyond. I tasted a chicken bite, and wished I had ordered those too... my eyes are truly bigger than my stomach lol. I liked the seafood salad, but if I lived in Philly, I would order it to accompany a great big mixed green salad. It holds its own and for me, doesn't need to be a side dish. It was an honor to visit Ms. Saud's restaurant, and contribute to her mission

The kind of delicious that makes you pause mid-bite and smile. Everything tasted like home--like your mom or grandmom was in the kitchen, apron on, seasoning from the soul. We had the mac and cheese, potato salad, and cabbage, and everything delivered comfort, warmth, and love. And listen... Mom has already requested a return trip, which should tell you everything you need to know. Cuz my Momma don't play about her food. Value for the Price Let's face it soul food aint cheap. Plus, you're not just paying for food--you're paying for an experience that feeds your spirit as much as your stomach. Cleanliness The space was clean, well-kept, and inviting. Cozy without feeling cramped, and comfortable in a way that makes you want to sit, eat, and take it all in. Customer Service Warm. Friendly. Genuine. The staff made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. And the highlight? Meeting the owner, Ms. Corinne herself. She and my mom talked like they were old friends catching up, which honestly felt very on-brand for this place. Wait Time & Convenience No issues here. I asked about them and they source their wings from farms that still grow chicken without reliance on hormones that make them grow too fast and that end up with a lot of extra fat on them. NORMAL size wings. Even in grocery stores I won't buy those extra large ones. Their string beans are DELIGHTFUL and fresh, with loads of fresh garlic. The greens are delicious, the potato salad is closest (for a restaurant) to what I grew up with - meaning they make it while the potatoes are still hot. When the potato salad is made with cooked cold potatoes, they don't absorb any of the seasonings which is how you can tell. They also have their own blended lemonade!
