Fish Fillet W. Black Bean Sauce/

Best Chinese food by Purdue! This is better than Peppercorns. The meat was so hot and tender and flavors were amazing. Portions are bigger too!! So pleasantly surprised by my experience here. The ambiance is so nice and makes me feel like Chinese royalty in a private little space. It is quite the walk from campus but will definitely return.

Beef pork Mapo Tofu/guobaorou

good flavors and good atmosphere, reminds me of home Guobaorou was flavored well, the preserved pork is exactly as I remember.

Hagao(dimsum), Stir-Fried Hotpot

Okay this restaurant is amazing. The service is slow and they don't seem to focus on the customers. But the taste of the food makes me forget everything else. I have eaten here numerous times since I got to purdue(which is this semester). Omg like I am on my period rn and I am craving again... I highly recommend mapo tofu, fried noodle(all of them), ha gao, and stir fried hot pot.

It's a joy to actually see a Chinese restaurant that serves Mandarin style food. As you may or may not know, Mandarin food is hot and so if you not into this, I would ask for mild and favorable on these dishes. Or, ask for a tiny bit of spice intro the food. I understand that some dishes need to have the peppers or hot flavor to bring out the taste of the dish. I would spend time and ask the server what choices are good based on your personal flavors and Chinese dishes that you had at other restaurants. There a lot of choice and they can help narrow it down. The only thing I would say is the prices are higher than usual and so expect to pay more when you visit. The food is good tasting and we will come back when we visit our daughter at school nearby.

Love the packaging!

Firstly - they do curbside pick up and are very courteous which we really appreciate. Food - a little oily but very yummy. We tried: 1) Diced chicken in spicy sauce - has a kick but nothing crazy. Chicken is fried well. 2) Fried chicken wings - it doesn't have a sauce or marinade but it was still really good! 3) Mapo tofu - yum! If you are not a fan of szechuan peppercorns I would advise against getting this dish. Good sized portions and prices are reasonable.

Our first time back to this location. Brand new restaurant and no more grocery store. Try the spicy beef and chicken dishes. They are fantastic--especially during those long Indiana winters. We started with the Mr. and Mrs Smith chewy beef appetizer and then moved on to the Chef Szechuan Chili Beef and the crispy friend chicken with chilis. All were great dishes. We will definitely be back. Recommended for two or more, since the portions are large and meant for sharing.

The Peking Duck was so so and it would be enough for three people. The duck was a little bit too greasy, though. The spring rolls were okay, not fantastic, but they were worth trying. Also, there were many people ordering and the waiting time was pretty long, so be sure to place an order ASAP. Expecting waiting time to be like 40 minutes +.

Much better now that it is under new management! Love the brown sugar glutinous rice cake!

if you want to wait for 30 minutes for a very mediocre food when there's only 3 people at the restaurant this is the place.

I rate my Chinese food against an old favorite, CHINA LANE, which closed after Covid, and against…read moresome fine Chinese American restaurants in Chicago, so that bar is pretty high. Thus far no Chinese restaurant in Lafayette has remotely met those standards. The atmosphere was quaint. Nice cozy amount of indoor seating. Nice and clean tables. You have to go to the counter to order. They have no fountain beverages only canned, and no water unless you want to buy bottled. We all chose the water from a cooler freezer, which was not very cold. 3 orders for 3 people which we all planned to mix and match. Orders were pork egg foo young, pork chop suey, and sweet and sour chicken. We then went and sat down at our booth. Our food was done very quickly. All were brought to the booth in brown paper bags. Hmmm do they not want you to eat in? So we opened the bags and pulled out our food trying to share from the plastic trays. The silverware was the very cheapest plasticware that they could have bought. My fork broke leaving tines in my egg foo young. The egg foo young was good but very average they forgot the gravy. I think they overheard us saying we never had it without because she brought some to the table, the gravy was good but nowhere near my Chicago or China Lanes. The sweet and sour chicken was excellent. Very crispy yet soft white meat and the sweet and sour was good. I would highly recommend it. The chop suey was one of the most disappointing dishes, I have eaten at many and this dish was tasty but to call it chop suey was a mistake. They had large chopped hard carrots, nothing like what is in normal chop suey, they did not use bean sprouts in anything that we had. This was in no way a chop suey. That being said except for the large uncooked carrots it was very tasty. Maybe rename. I spoke to someone who eats there periodically and they said they use the same combination for a variety of dishes and just change the meat and name. We also had crab raggoons, these were some of the best I have ever had soft, crispy with a soft yummy center. The rice was excellent, the egg roll was ok, I have bought frozen ones from Sam's that are better. Sad if not for having no table service and the cheapest plasticware I would give the food a 4. I know there is a second Resturant with the same name and their food is the same. Not sure if this one was to be a better one for eating in or not. More. Hands on if so. I hope they step it up some and work on their inside sales more. Would recommend just not to sit eat and expect any customer service. Nice people but they need to work on their inside customer service. One of the better Chinese American foods, they just need to step it up a notch to be a great success. Will eat here again and update this restaurant, they have potential.

Ordered for a quick dinner for the first time, and it wasn't too bad!…read more Pros - Speed of food prep and kitchen efficiency was great - Quantity of food was good for the price - Friendliness of staff Cons - Not terrible, but overly sauced (I ordered the Sesame Chicken, as the first time I go somewhere I always order something simple) Overall not a bad, local quick service Chinese spot.
