Our red flight.

Visited Morgan as part of a reSiprocal February complimentary tasting for participating wineries. Tasted a few of their Pinot Noirs, which were nice, but a bit pricey ($75). Laidback atmosphere, our tastes were served in pours that we could drink at our own pace.

Great service, AMAZING wines, and very dog friendly! Molly and Remi definitely loved the puppy treats! We appreciate the wonderful experience and look forward to visiting again!

What a cute and hospitality place for wine tastings. We stopped by with our dog to see if we could be seated. We enjoy trying different wines and brands and we love trying different regional wines from California. Once greeted we were given the option to sit inside or outside which was nice since we also had our pup. We decided to sit outside since it was a nice day. We each decided to try a flight which was four tasters and all were very generous pours. Although I didn't fall in love with all of their wines, we did purchase a few to take home. The best deal was that if you bought a bottle over $25.00, your tasting fee was waived.

This was such a wonderful experience after our lousy visit to Folktale. The tasting room Is small and intimate. The sommelier was informative and friendly. The wine was good. Went home with a Syrah :) thank you! Wine 4/5 Service 5/5

After coming to the Crossroads at Carmel for a different Yelp event, we got some coupons to a discounted tasting at Taste Morgan and decided to dedicate a trip here. We were not disappointed! We were seated outside since we brought our dog along and they were happy to host her as well. For each tasting, they give you 4 different wines, each in their own carafes that makes it feel like you're at a brewery trying out a flight, and a wine glass for you to enjoy your wines in. We had a choice of 8 different wines so we ended up trying them all! I think it's a great opportunity for those who like drinking wine at their own speed and don't have to worry about when the server is coming around for the next glass. That's not to say the server doesn't stop by - they do! They make sure to check up on you to make sure they answer any questions you may have. We ended up leaving with a bottle of their Double L Pinot and would love to return to try their latest wines!

Rafael and the team are always warm and welcoming. I only come down to Carmel when its pickup time or one off visits with friends. Never had a bad experience. Dog friendly and they try to remember everyone's name. Aside from the wonderful service, the ambiance of the place is always great, with a mix of locals and out towners like me to talk to.

Yes, do what the name says, and TASTE MORGAN! This is delicious, velvety wine that will cascade down your throat, tickling your palate on the way! I had enjoyed several of these wines at my mom's house, but not ventured into the tasting room myself. On a recent rainy day, I strolled in and met the delightful Debra. We chatted, and she informed me that most of their non-wine merchandise is on sale, since they will only carry wine in the future. She asked if I had a wine club membership, and I remembered all the earthy rich reds and svelte whites I had imbibed. Sure enough, she not only located our wine club membership, but informed me that we had 6 bottles waiting for pick up. I was lucky enough to leave carrying a large enough assortment of rich reds and unoaked whites to tempt any palate.

Ask a Yelp Whisperer QOTD (Question of the Day) January 21, 2014 Dear YW: I'm a wine tasting virgin, in a manner of speaking. I mean, I drink wine, but never in public other than bars and restaurants, and definitely never without my boyfriend around. He's totally adorable, but he's also very ... opinionated. A power-charging Cabernapa drinker who likes his tannins stiff and hard and a lingering finish that lasts until early morning. I'm emancipated and all, but I must admit to feeling a little intimidated when we're drinking wine together. I want to try it without the BF and his big red radar going off, just to see if anything's different. So ... I have this weekend trip planned with a few female friends and we really want to wine taste sans our significant others. We're pretty laid-back folks, no big party hearty types (except in the bedroom). We want smart and sophisticated wines, the kind you can enjoy and get an oenophilic education in the process. Don't laugh! I want to learn, but also have fun doing it. So what have you got up your Yelp Whispering sleeve this time? PS- We don't need to visit the winery itself. A tasting room near some shopping would be pretty optimal, actually. Got all that? Thanks! I am SUCH a fan ;-) Julia G. (aka "Miss Mellow in Menlo") Menlo Park, CA Hi Julia, That's a great question. Not Napa, for starters. Not a great place to begin tasting. And not Paso Robles or Santa Barbara, either: too far from the Bay Area to make a fun day trip. And no Santa Cruz Mountain wineries, since those roads can be tricky. Sonoma might be an option, but you'd have to go too far from Menlo to really make it fun. The solution is simple: Taste Morgan. It's close, it's near Carmel, there are spas and coffee and good food and chocolate, and Point Lobos for sight-seeing. And few places showcase Monterey County wines like Morgan. The cool climate varietals are all there - vineyard designate Pinots and Chardonnay - but really I'd recommend that you and your friends go with the signature or classic tasting rather than the Quatro Pinot option. That way, you'll start with a mouth-watering Savignon Blanc (the newly released 2012s are excellent), then move on to unoaked and oaked Chardonnay. This is a great - really great - way to see how barrel aging affects the taste of white wine, and you might like the Metallico enough to bring a few bottles home. You'll want to try some reds next - 12 Clones Pinot, or an estate Syrah - but save room for sampling from the Lee Family Farm bottles. These are small batch experimental varieties, sourced from estate grapes and some other top flight growers that fly under the radar screen or who don't bottle their own wine. These are fun reds and funky whites - the Verdelho and Rio Tinto are prime examples - and I'm fond of the 2011 Grenache. Great cherry fruit, integrated oak, and super approachable. A lovely choice for you to see what reds can do besides be really big. You'll want to try wines from the Double L vineyard, and study the Santa Lucia highlands map. Pick up a bottle of the DL Riesling, or maybe purchase a glass of it to share. They'll wave the tasting fee if you buy two bottles, and believe me, two bottles is a minimum here, and the Lee Family Farm and single vineyard wines aren't easy to find at your local wine spots, like Beltramo's. The tasting room is very welcoming, with a nice cross-generational, gender neutral vibe going on. I think you'll all feel like Taste Morgan is speaking your language - the language of Vitis vinifera, that is! Have a great time tasting wines at Morgan, Julia. Bring a bottle of their Tempranillo home for the BF, or grab an '04 Cab from Boete on the way back. He'll love it, any way you choose.

********************* 1254 ********************** For three decades, Dan and Donna Lee and their Morgan label have been synonymous with artisan, vineyard-centric wines from the Santa Lucia Highlands and Monterey. Located in the Crossroads Carmel, Rio Road at Highway One in this busy Crossroads Shopping Plaza. At Taste Morgan, you can sample the latest vintages, many of which are only available "at the source." Taste Morgan also boasts a unique collection of wine-oriented gifts. The tasting room is spacious, with comfortable sofa and table, as well as a long bar for standing only. The GM Deborah and Amy were very nice and gracious to us. We got to try variety of wines and all were good and very reasonable price by bottle. - 2013 Double L Vineyard Chardonnay - 2013 Garys' Vineyard Pinot Noir - I love this wine! - 2013 Double L Vineyard Syrah - surprisingly beautiful - 2013 Twelve Clones Pinot Noir - 2013 Lee Family Farm Tempranillo - a SOLD OUT wine, must get on the next release - 2012 Lee Family Farm Grenache - a bargain Tasting fee was reasonable, comfortable atmosphere, great service, a must check out tasting room while you visit Carmel.

2006 Syrah Monterey 2006 Cotes du Crow's Morgan wines are a perfect value in tough economic times. The 2 wines in particular that I have tasted are both under $20.00 per bottle. The Fruit is harvest from either Santa Lucia Highlands or Monterey vineyards. They also produce several other varietals like Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Noir. They do produce single vineyard Chardonnay's and Pinot's. There prices are a bit higher ranging from $44.00 to $85.00 per bottle. The 2006 Syrah Monterey has the deep black/purple color associated with Syrah. Aromas of Black Cherry, Licorice and Coffee with pepper on the finish. I did pick up this wine marked down from $22.00 to $19.99. It is a great value at this price. The 2006 Cotes du Crow's is a blend of 55% Syrah and 45% Grenache. I do love Rhone blends in general but one can still taste the qualities of each grape with this blend. Beautiful ruby red color in the glass with aromas of Violets, strawberries, pepper and mint. A versatile food wine, that is easy to enjoy. You should be able to find these wines at local wine shops or big name stores. Give them a try. Cheers!

The tasting room itself is on the smaller side, with a stylish, cozy interior with TVs and private tables. I happened to stop by at a quiet time and was seated comfortably at the bar. The gentleman who helped me was relatively new, but you wouldn't have known it since he was incredibly knowledgeable and well-spoken, providing detailed descriptions of each wine on my tasting flight and answering all my questions without hesitation. I enjoyed the wines enough that I ended up purchasing a couple of bottles once I learned they could conveniently ship them to me. My only disappointment was that some of the higher-end wines weren't available to sample, which made it harder to justify buying a $100+ bottle without trying it first. That said, I completely understand the policy (but I definitely could have been sold on one if I could sample it and it was great). So far, I've visited three tasting rooms in the area, and Albatross Ridge might just be my favorite. Great service, delicious wines, and a relaxed vibe. It's definitely worth a visit.

We visited there on the recommendation from a sommelier in Paso Robles based on their excellent sparkling wines. You have choice of ordering a glass of any of the wines or the tasting flight. My partner decided to go with a glass of the Brut Rose whilst I chose the tasting flight (5 wines for $40). All of the wines here are expertly made and of a beautiful style. I can't say there wasn't a wine here that I didn't thoroughly enjoy. The Brut Rose is a beautiful champagne style rose. The Rose of Pinot Noir was also excellent. A fantastic light yet flavorful wine. The chardonnay was also excellent and of a beautiful style with just a touch of oak. Next was their Passetoutgrain, which is a blend of gamay noir and pinot noir. Also in the tasting were two pinot noirs, the base pinot noir and the El Bec. Both were beautiful expressions of pinot noir. Wonderful balance of fruit, earth and spice. Finally, we had to try the Brut Cuvee, which is only offered by the glass. A truly beautiful wine reminiscent of the Champagne region. Service was from a couple of friendly and very knowledgeable attendants. The glassware here is beautiful and perfect for the wine served. The wines were all served at the proper temperature. And the pours were of a generous volume such that you could fully experience the wines. If you're in Carmel, you owe it to yourself to visit Caraccioli.

We went in with pretty high hopes but ended up feeling underwhelmed by the offerings. A lot of the wines tasted watered down, mild, and somewhat similar to one another. This was true for both the reds and the whites. The charcuterie and cheese pairing was also disappointing, especially when compared to Napa, where tastings often feature thoughtfully curated cheeses and meats paired with each wine. That said, the staff were very kind and informative. They explained each wine carefully and in an engaging way, which definitely helped make the experience enjoyable overall. Ultimately, though, the wines themselves were underwhelming and none of them really WOW'd us. They also felt a bit overpriced per bottle (~75$) especially considering you can easily find excellent wines at Napa vineyards for a better value.
