I went to the shop on the Thursday of that same week, the man at the counter (didn't think I'd need his name) took my cell # down to not only give me a quote on my car but also I wanted a quote on my truck. If they were too busy to take in any more business than have the cajones to say so to my face or call. Amazing!! The team at Taskers was beyond amazing. I called them in a panic on a Saturday afternoon because my car broke down on the freeway. They were amazing and told me to have my car towed there and it was super convenient because it's right around the corner from my house. They did everything in their power to ensure that I got the best bang for my buck because we all know having car trouble can tend to be very expensive. They were able to help me in replacing the catalytic converter in my car and were able to give me a very reasonable price. I didn't even want to give them one star. I went in yesterday to get my battery replaced on my Kia Forte and they wanted to charge me $720. I looked up what the cost from the dealer would be and it was $246 I ended up at Costco with great customer service it ended up being $180. I would never go to this location ever again. We can dependably rely on them to fix what's wrong with our cars and RV, and save us money while doing it. Mac, the owner, is a man of sterling character, with deep roots in community service. As such, he has his selfless reputation to maintain. My first interactions with Tasker's were lukewarm. They had initially told me an electrical system checkout on my wife's car could be done overnight (pick up at 11:30 am the following day), but when I called that morning to confirm the manager answered and told me that their technician had misinformed me and it might not be ready by then. That was understandable, but there was no apology or flexibility in the conversation, which left a bad taste in my mouth. In the end, it was ready on time with a new battery installed. Regardless, I brought my Honda CRV in for a maintenance check, pointing out that the Maintenance warning light was on with a "B1" label indicating a specific list of items to be checked (https://www.mymetrohonda.com/service/service-tips/what-is-honda-b1-service/#:~:text=If%20the%20Maintenance%20Minder%20in,a%20tire%20rotation%20is%20required). I signed the work order without checking the list of items in much detail (it turns out they only did fluid, air filter and tire pressure checks). When I subsequently checked the work done against the B1 list of work items, most of the B1 items weren't included. When I called to ask about the mismatch, the manager first told me that the B1 items had been covered by their fluid checks (although it wasn't clear to me, for instance, how a fluid check would include something like, "Inspection of the exhaust system" or "tire rotation"). When I pressed him on "Parking brake adjustment" he finally admitted that hadn't been done and said I could schedule it separately. Our conversation became a bit heated when he claimed that I had only requested an oil change, which was absolutely wrong and confirmed my sense that he wasn't being up front with me. Arrived at the time they open on a Saturday. And was told that my car would not be looked at that day. So I had it scheduled to be towed in and said while trying to find some form of fairly priced vehicle for the time my car would in the shop. Lest that two hours later I get a call saying my car is ready. They did and electric diagnostics on it and found that my battery died, something the tow truck driver couldn't figure out. And to find out that the only thing that was the battery and it was going to cost me a whopping $387.00 to replace only the battery that was not under the bumper to bumper extended warranty . Gosh, I was driving a rental car I'd JUST picked up and it started dinging and lighting up that it was out of oil! Thank goodness I was near Taskers so I pulled in and the owner and his staff could not have been nicer or kinder! The owner himself came out to check my oil and immediately had one of his mechanics fill it up and sent me on my way. I was recommended this shop a couple of years ago and was very happy with their service. Until my last experience, I should have known better when I asked where the other service writer was and why the shop was not as busy as it had been in the past. The service writer had a difficult time with the work I was requesting. I wanted them to figure out why the heater was not working after I had the AC system serviced there a few months prior and an oil change. I requested them to look at the shocks and struts and depending upon the cost of the heater repair we would consider that job. I was told end of the day the car would be ready. I called close to closing and no the car wasn't ready, but they would call the next day. The next day comes around and again another phone call with no one answering and the shops website is now "not trustable" by Google. Saturday morning I call again and said I am told it should be finished that afternoon and they were currently working on it. Late afternoon I received a call telling me that the oil change was complete, the shocks and struts had been replaced and that total was $1800. The had identified the problem with the heater and it was going to be another $1000 to fix the only thing that I really needed fixed! This is my son's 17 year old car and I really don't want to pour that much money into it, especially since the shop has strung me along for 10 days at this point, didn't listen to the work I authorized and wanted an exorbitant amount to fix the initial problem. My younger son found the parts that the shop told him that the dashboard needed to be removed. He ordered them for $300 and replaced them in 10 minutes. Bottom line, this shop is no longer performing the same level of service they used to. From communication, shoddy work, deceptive business practices I will not go back here. read more

Yesterday my wife's Pilot was dead in our driveway. Called AAA and had the battery changed. That fixed the problem but I decided to bring it to Tasker's to do a service check to make sure everything else was OK and get oil changed as well. Mac is excellent and treats all vehicles like they are his own. Anyway today my wife said her radio was dead so a quick call to Mac and he told me how to fix it. Battery change caused the problem. Was told I was getting a reman transmission when mine went out for $3000 mac pulled one from a junk yard and threw it in there. And said the reman was 6000 the used was 3000. Dude played me. But since I've never used a mechanic I didn't think to get the service in writing. Now I'm stuck with a 3000 transmission that only has a 90 day warranty. Went to pick it up the first time and they lost the key went to pick it up a second time and the shifter link is loose( which they refuse to fix saying it is common in old fords even though it wasn't like that when I dropped it off.) and now here I am again missing work for the third time and my battery is dead. This place is trash. I'll never use this dude again. Shisty and untrustworthy. And I discourage all from doing business with him. read more

RIP OFF CROOKS DO NOT TRUST THESE GUYS!!!! I purchased a package of oil changes awhile back and I used 2 of 6 them. When I call today the guy says "Oh sorry we dont do those anymore" I told him that the owner gave me his word they were good for a lifetime and he insisted he was now in charge and said "I dont do free oil changes". This shop was recommended, went in JUST to have my spark plugs changed and when I picked it up they said I needed a $120 "diagnostic test" to determine what was wrong since their OBD Scan determined there was an issue. (Note: we had just ran an OBD test the nite before and the code they referenced was coming up good) When I turned my car on the check engine light was on, mind you it had never turned on before. Rather than going back to them I took my car to another shop the next day and it turns out they had disconnected something to get a false read and everything was good with my car.. I had to pay an unecessary amount of money just to fix their "mistake", and what's even more frustrating is that they wanted to charge me to fix it. read more

Tried Taskers again after twenty-five years of staying away due to a ridiculous screwup that cost me an oil pan and a lot of work. They had dropped my car onto the cinder blocks that they were using to hold it up out in the parking lot. I'm disabled now so can't work on my cars and decided to try Taskers again, Mac saying that he was a new owner as of fifteen years ago. My truck was throwing codes and needed some brake and A/C work etc. Got the work done, but they charged $120 to read those codes: two at $60, even though my bill was over $800. I called Mac and told him that between that, which no shop should charge once work is done, and the other $60 they charged to trace a problem that they could not repair because they could not find a replacement switch, I was not happy with the charges which my wife had paid cash. The guy never called me back. It was a bad experience talking to him, but I was plenty cordial. He just told me he agreed, would talk to his guy and call me back. Oh well. There are many others in Vista. But I'll have nothing more to do with Taskers. read more

Too bad I was in a hurry to have my front tires installed and it was later in the evening. There was 3 gentleman when I came and one of them Richard was only helpful and getting the only extra star I have to offer in this review. He and the manager spoke to me about my new premium tires as if there was something wrong with it even though they were exactly the same tires as original. Probably trying to sell their own. When I asked how long it would take the manager didnt know how much to charge me. I proposed the amount and he okayed it after like 3 minutes of silence. Anyway it was getting dark and I didn't want to look for another shop. They lifted up my van outside and began the... work in the darkness:/ I had my Milwaukee Light with me so pilled it out and shined it to help the technician. Richard was very nice and he was trying to do his best. He disassembled the old tires and after what seemed like 30 min he called me to only tell me that they are unable to balance my tires due to lack of some sort of adapters. Damn!! I use the van for my business and that was already after 6pm which would be impossible to find something open after putting my old tires back. After a while Richard comes up with a solution to balance the wheels with some old school eye leveling contraption. After eyeing them both he put them back on the van. I asked if they can check the tire pressure on rear wheels that are dualies but they also said they dont have right tools to do it. I paid tipped Richard and left. Next day I get on the highway and after hitting 50 mph there is great deal of shaking on the steering wheel. I called Taskers and spoke to the same manager who assured me at time of service that of anything is wrong with the job they will fix it. Well, when I called and ask to rebalance the wheels he was very quiet and dismissive. After I told him that I would post this review he said that he would borrow right adapters from another shop and would call me same day. After 3 weeks never called. I had them rebalanced in no time at another shop in San Marcos. The tech laughed at the weights they put on my wheels and said they didn't make any sense. I still think Richard did his best with available tools and earned an extra star for his shop. Would not recommend. read more

Horrible service and shady pricing. $98 to change a battery. Ever heard of such foolishness?? Called on Friday, 1/4 and spoke with a guy who quoted $159 for a 2006 Nissan Maxima battery. After sharing that their price was high since Escondido Nissan dealership had it for $129, the guy said his price included installation. BTW Escondido Nissan dealership quoted with install it would be &159. Considering that this shop was closer, we went to Tasker's. When we arrived the owner swore no one answers the phone other than him and quoted us for over $220 for battery and install when we arrived today. This shop will not be part of any auto program after this experience. They're investigating this complaint and I'm confident they will remove this shop for such shady pricing and poor service. STAY AWAY! The owner then admits he was out sick on the Friday I called so he supposedly speaks to the other guy who said only battery was $159. I guess the guy didn't want to be in trouble with this shady owner. AGAIN STAY AWAY!!!! No auto program will do business with this shop again. I have been going to Taskers for many years now, and find the owner & staff to be friendly, the service great and they keep my car on the road running smoothly! They are honest and don't try to upsell you what you don't need, offer lots of hospitality (coffee) and you can get a ride to home or work, if the repairs take longer than you are willing to wait. The bathroom is always clean, hot coffee is served and there's a nice, shaded seating area outside to sit and get work done under an umbrella. read more
