I went into store and Parsa was my Salesperson, he was very helpful and assured me that ordering…read morethe appliances now and that there would not be a problem holding off on the delivery until I notified them of the delivery date. However, it was a bit of an issue because I had given an estimated date for delivery, however, the renovation had not started and I received a notification of delivery before, on a Friday evening, tried getting a hold of a live person on the phone, did not work. I replied back to the delivery notification email and asked to Cancel the delivery, and they did cancel. This was the only issue I had, other than that, Canadian Appliance Source, has quality appliances, good prices and plenty of locations in Ontario. Overall experience was very good. I have to wait and see how the appliances work, renovations still not finished.

I purchased a refrigerator from Canadian Appliance Source after seeing it advertised with free…read moredelivery and setup. Unfortunately, what should have been a straightforward transaction turned into nearly a month of trying to understand an additional $114.97 delivery/"oversize" charge that I still do not believe CAS has adequately explained. My salesperson was Hossai Zazai. Before delivery, I proactively provided CAS with measurements, photos, doorway information, and details about the access to my home, including the stairs. Every invoice I received also stated that my order was eligible for free delivery/services. When an unexpected delivery charge appeared, I contacted Hossai on August 5 and specifically asked whether it had been added in error given the advertised free delivery. I also told her that I was uncomfortable paying the charge over the phone because it was not clear what I was actually being charged for. Despite that, I felt pressured to pay the remaining amount so the delivery could proceed. I repeatedly asked for explanations in writing because the rationale for the charge was unclear and seemed to evolve. Despite those requests, I continued receiving phone calls and had to follow up again by email asking CAS to respond in writing so I could maintain a clear record. My initial understanding was that the extra charge related to additional delivery personnel because of the stairs. After the refrigerator was delivered by two people, I asked for clarification. Hossai later explained that CAS has different delivery teams and that a more experienced "senior" team may be used for special stairs and cost more. I then asked whether the two people who delivered my refrigerator were that senior team and why my invoice simply described the charge as "oversize." Customer Care eventually became involved. Leslie stated that the "oversize" fee was not about the refrigerator's physical size, but rather that my delivery fell outside CAS's standard scope because of the stairs/access conditions and required a more experienced team. At that point my question was simple: where was this exception to the advertised free delivery disclosed when I made the purchase? I repeatedly asked CAS to identify the specific policy or published condition saying that a delivery like mine -- two flights of stairs, an L-shaped turn and approximately 35 inches of clearance -- triggered this additional charge. Instead, I was directed to general wording saying that delivery rates and service levels may vary depending on delivery requirements. I was never shown a clear published condition stating that my particular circumstances required a $114.97 "oversize" fee or an additional charge for a more experienced two-person team. This is particularly difficult to reconcile with every invoice I received stating that the order was eligible for free delivery/services. What concerned me further was that I later contacted another CAS salesperson and described substantially the same delivery circumstances, specifically raising the advertised free delivery and possible stair charges. That representative told me the stair charge could be covered and that I would not pay anything more than the amount agreed to at purchase. I provided that conversation to Customer Care and asked them to reconsider the refund. Leslie ultimately replied that the delivery department considered the fee necessary and that the decision would not be changed. My biggest issue is no longer simply the $114.97. It is transparency and confidence in the transaction. I disclosed the delivery conditions in advance, questioned the fee almost immediately, expressed discomfort paying a charge whose basis remained unclear, and repeatedly asked for both a written explanation and the policy supporting it. From my first written question on August 5 until CAS's final response on September 3, I spent nearly a month trying to understand why the advertised free delivery did not apply. CAS eventually explained what it says the fee represented, but never clearly answered the more important question: what specific published policy, disclosed at the time of purchase, established that my delivery was excluded from the free-delivery offer? To be very clear, the two third-party delivery workers were excellent -- professional, efficient and careful. My review is not a criticism of them. My concern is with CAS's sales, billing, disclosure and handling of the dispute. Based on this experience, I would be very hesitant to purchase from Canadian Appliance Source again because I no longer feel confident that the advertised price and delivery offer tell a customer what they will ultimately be required to pay. When I first came to the store, I was helped by her daughter who was polite, however, I was confused why she spent a lot of time ranting and complaining about her mom (the store owner - Theresa) to a stranger. However, I didn't chalk it up to much and moved on. Awhile later, after I bought a set of chairs, and the owner and I had agreed that her team will not re-paint the wood frame and I'll buy the fabric. This resulted in a mutually agreed discount due to the reduced labour in repainting and sourcing/purchasing the material. However, when my parents came to drop off the fabric, Theresa began back-tracking on our arrangement and tried talking them into paying more! She complained how much labour this project was going to take, and how much she undercharged us for the chairs. Moreover, she began complaining about sourcing trim for the chairs, which again, her daughter confirmed was possible in my first visit! My dad had to offer to buy it for her for her to stop complaining because she was making such a fuss about it, despite it being an essential step in any upholstery job. This all felt rude and disrespectful; why bother negotiating if everything flies out at a moment's notice? We continued on because we had already paid for the fabric and designed our living room with these chairs. We asked that the original chair's fabric be given back to us (for another project, since we paid for it anyways), which Theresa acknowledged. However on pick-up day we found out they had been thrown into the trash!! We were only given a "whoops, my bad" apology. Our family also works with fabrics and DIY projects a lot, so we had a good idea of how much fabric this project may take. We had specifically asked that any excess to be given back to us and we knew how much that excess would be. Upon pick up day though, the remainder was less than what we expected. Also, the wood frame hadn't been cleaned and was covered in dust. Not to mention she proceeded to complain during cash-out, again, how undercharged these chairs were and how she'll never do a project like this again. I simply cannot understand how someone can run a business like this. It's completely unfathomable to our family to ever treat a customer in this regard. However, at this point, we didn't care what she said/did because we were utterly done with this store and just wanted our chairs. The cherry on top though was seeing a recent post on her store with the exact same fabric from our chairs. Now mind you, this fabric is expensive and was from a family-run Etsy store in the UK, and from what I can see, is the only store online that sells it. I have visited the fabric stores the owner said she frequented when finding materials for my chairs, plus about 10 other fabric stores in the GTA, and none of these stores carry this fabric. Given the track record that Theresa has established (not responding to my emails, back-tracking on prior arrangements and trying to get my parents to cough up more money, complaining about sourcing trim for the job, throwing out the previous fabric despite being asked otherwise and not doing anything to rectify that mistake, and passive aggressively complaining about how she charged too little for the chairs throughout the last half of the project), I wouldn't put it past her to have taken a piece of fabric, without permission, for this new project. If this is incorrect, I'll happily withdraw my accusation, however the evidence is really stacking up. Save yourself a world of hurt, and go to another store.
