This Target in downtown Oak Park has a convenient location. It is bright inside with a nice looking interior. The store appears well designed and well-stocked. They display many potentially-useful items with a wide variety of options and selection. It is great they offer produce, especially given how important it is to have good fruits and vegetables. It doesn't matter if it's a big store or a small mini store like this location. I love everything about Targét! From the bullseye bargain bins to their special launch name brand items that they have from time to time- as this summer's recent Vineyard Vines line did not disappoint me at all! Pffft *eye roll* Ladies, I think we all can agree there's no such thing as a "quick run into Target" or my fav ... "I'll be right back! I just have to get at few things". My prayers were answered just a little over 2 yrs ago.... Oak Park was not only building a huge luxury high rise apartment home complex.... they were also building several stores and businesses in and around the mega luxury apartment complex. One of that being TARGET!!! !!!!! It was a win win for me! At that time we would soon move into our beautiful new home and TARGET is right out of our building! This Target is a small mini store compared to the regular Targets one may typically be acquainted with. They have a small produce/grocery section. Great selection of beer/wines... (Target: Please go back to featuring an entire wall of your California Roots wines instead of shelving them with the rest. Clearly this is a best seller wine for damn good reason too and not just because it's $5 a bottle guys... the Cab, the blend, the Pinot Grigio so good!) Essential toiletries, good selection of cosmetics, clothing is limited and a very very small electronic department. Note: If you are going to purchase any alcoholic beverages you need to do so before 10pm... township regulations! So don't take your last min wine run frustrations out on the wonderful staff here at this Target location. This is a Target Express, conveniently located just steps away from the CTA Harlem/Lake Green Line station. My job isn't too far from downtown Oak Park, so often times I would schedule an online pickup in the morning so that the stuff can be ready by the time I get off work. Speaking of this being a mini Target, one shouldn't expect to conduct a complete grocery-shopping trip here. I am mainly here for Keurig k-cups, snacks, and maybe some pantry/non-perishable items. To make the shopping more enjoyable and effective, their app. is a great tool to utilize. Instead of going through aisle to aisle aimlessly, I load the cartwheel coupons ahead of time. Knowing what is on sale is easier to create a budget. Yes, I need to watch my dough. I have heard many stories that people love shopping at Target and the word, "self-control," goes straight outta door! I don't want to be another one falling on the statistics. The in-store coupons keep me in check, so are the online pickups. Sometimes there are special deals on k-cups if the online pickup option is chosen. I have had good experience with their pickup service; the designated counter is at the south end of the store. The process is quite fast and they give out a plastic bag! Why is this worth mentioning? The Village of Oak Park charges $0.10/ bag, just FYI. The north end of the store features self-checkout. Any cartwheel coupon is applied after finishing scanning the items. A hand-held scanner can be found on the right side of the monitor. All I need to do is to scan the barcode from the app. wallet and the discount will be taken immediately. I highly recommend that you BYO-Bag. You can receive a $0.10 discount on the entire purchase. It's nice to have a Target in Oak Park since I live in the northwest side of Chicago and am on public transportation to/from work. Hence, there's no need to navigate through downtown Chicago during PM rush hours. For this reason alone, it deserves a good rating in my opinion. read more

Mini Target store. The clothing and accessory sections are small and don't have a lot. I saw a small purse for $18 and a jumpsuit for $25 and a one piece swimsuit for $35 if that gives you an idea of the price range. The grocery section is larger and has everything you can think of, candy, chips, snacks, fresh meat and frozen meat, frozen meals and some fresh produce. The hair dye section for men and women is very small and limited. A box of hair dye for women can go from $10 up. Walgreens has better prices and a larger selection. I wish this store would lower their prices and have better selection. Watch out on the food- the employees and management will allow food that had expired sit there for weeks for people to buy- when you're in a rush, you might skip checking the sell by date. I bought rotten spoiled expired Starbucks pre-made Mocha coffee, the date was three weeks old. read more

LITTLE RED DOT The newest mini-Target in the area is a welcome addition to Oak Park. Other reviewers have complained about the size (it's not your "regular" volume store), the layout, the helpfulness of staff or lack thereof. Personally I think that this grocery complements the Trader Joe's and Whole Foods -- both nearby -- rather well. There's a self service checkout closest to the Lake Street entrance that allows you to bypass the at-times lengthy register line at the other end of the store. Selection of stuff isn't half bad: you can get toiletries, clothes, food......AND BOOZE! That last one is a big plus in my book. Prices are just okay. I've found that the same items cost less at the Jewel Osco a few blocks west of here, but the convenience of having this Target literally 100ft from my apartment balances out the value aspect. Oh, and there's a Starbucks inside! Schweet. I should also mention that these guys get kudos points for carrying some unusual, ethnic items like Hello Panda (those cream filled asian cookie things) and Cafe Bustelo, my girlfriend's preferred brand of coffee. UNSAFE. There are constantly aggressive men panhandling outside. I have zero issue with panhandling, do what you need to do to survive and I'll help when I can. But these men will get in your face, call you names, corner you and and insult you if you say you don't have anything to give. The store does absolutely nothing about it and won't pick up their phone whenever I've tried calling to let them know it's an issue. I'm sure the store employees are too freaked out by it to do anything, and it's not their fault or their job to fix it, but someone seriously needs to do something. Arrived at 9:50pm and security would not let me in. They told me they now close at 10pm without any advance notice. There were things I needed for my family and I would have been in and out in 5 minutes or less. Security would still not let me in. They used to stay open until 11pm every night. They just ambiguously changed their hours and never let us in the local community know. Very bad business practice IMO. Negative stars for this location. read more

Items are often mis-shelved. Some staff simply aren't friendly. It's bizarre. Sometimes I am not even thanked. Prices are often higher than other Targets and certainly other stores (tonight's example: Gerber Baby Food is $1.17 for a small jar. At Pete's Market it is $1. Bananas are less expensive at all of the area grocery stores) If you're in downtown OP and you're in a pinch, this place is good. Otherwise, this isn't a place I would recommend shopping. read more

This location is constantly under staffed, and their self checkout registers are never working.

My closest target is a Target Express so it's a lot smaller than the regular ones but it usually has 90-95% of all the things I need. Besides, it's so much better than not having one nearby! The shelves can look pretty sparse depending on the day of the week though (especially in the Grocery and Home sections). read more

Quite perplexed by the harsh negative reviews about the nice checkout lady, 1 star ratings for having to pay for bags, and the "pure unadulterated rage" against white people comments. These commenters sound crazy . This Target is right in the heart of downtown, small but still sells things like alcohol, tvs, and clothes, and conveniently has checkouts on both sides of the store. There's a Starbucks located right in the store as well. I've never had an issue at this store and have been going there every week. 5 stars read more

I placed an online order to pick up at the Oak Park Target. I had the reciept and the delivery confirmation on my phone but they could not locate the order, so a Manager was called. THIS person, was unable to locate the order, I showed the receipt, the delivery confirmation, my account info on my phone confirming the pillow was delivered. She refused to give me my item unless I paid for the item again, which of course I refused. I went to my other appt and checked the Target site again, and it still confirmed my item was ready for pick up, so I went back. One of the guys who was there when I went in the first time was still there and offered to just give me the item. I said NO, call her back here. We went back and forth again, she even questioned if I placed the order under a different name. Finally, she just stuffed the pillow in a bag, tossed it at me and told me she was tired of dealing with it, and made a snide remark, that I was probably going to get a credit for it. I wasn't attempting to get a credit for anything. I paid, I had confirmation I paid. it was delivered, I had confirmation it was delivered. The only thing she had to do was call to verify the order but she turned it into a pissing contest. I am filing a formal complaint with their Corporate office. I did NOT appreciate being made to feel like I was trying to get over! read more

In my opinion, I think we do not need a target in downtown oak park because they took away a lot of parking lots to build this. And it's so busy and finding parking is already hard enough to find. It's as if Oak Park is forcing you to park in the parking garages which is not inexpensive to park in. Anyways, the staff are friendly but they do not know where everything is. I had asked for mason jars and the guy looked at me weird and he even questioned me what they were. The staff is not too helpful. I understand it's express and doesn't have anything but maybe having certain things will help making it convenient. I totally disagree of having it in Oak Park when we have a lot of grocery stores and there's Walgreens and CVS. Plus there's a big super target not too far from Oak Park (about 15 minute drive), which is convenient for all of the things you need. read more

I like this mini Target. It may not have everything a Super Target or a full-size Target may have but it definitely is in a good location for me to frequent and get most of what I need. The nice part about having this Target on Lake Street is that you can now have a place that you can go to to buy milk and eggs cheaper than Trader Joe's. What I like about having the Target on Lake Street is that it's closer to my home than it would be for me to drive to the Jewel. I also like that there is a Starbucks in this target. This makes it very easy for people that are working out at FFC, to go across the street and get their favorite coffee or tea after their workout. This mini target has some select groceries, a small women's section, a small male section, kids section, cosmetic and Home Goods section. Of course, most people may have a better experience at a larger Target, but this place is good when you are on a time crunch or just don't feel like driving to the other Target read more

This City Target was a much needed addition to the Oak Park Mall. It's convenient and has everything that Walgreens/CVS doesnt have. It offers higher end brands and the layout of the store is perfect. The one draw back is parking. As with every other store in Oak Park, parking is a chronic problem. If I have to spend 30 minutes looking for a place to park I might as well go to a Target further out. Once again the village planners choose money over convenience. I would frequent this Target much more if there was anywhere to park. Even with the 1 parking garage, there are still no spots. I'm assuming this Targey was built for all of the new condos in the area, sure hope none of those tenants own cars. 4 stars for this awesome Target, 0 stars for the possibility I could shop there without walking a mile from my house. read more

Well-organized, tidy and efficiently run little store that had a good selection of fresh food, other groceries, household, healthcare and tech items. Some fitness items, small toys and holiday-themed items. Regular Target offerings, just curated for the compact space. Self check-out is a bit of a hassle but a kind employee named Lynn was there to help me. 2 other staff members smiled and welcomed me, too. Remember to bring bags or you will be charged 10 cents each, village ordinance- nothing specific to Target. I just stuffed everything into pockets and my purse because I didn't bring a bag and I'm too stubborn to buy a plastic one. read more

BLOOP! This target really feels more like a convenience store (right down to the mini bottles of clorox!), than a target. The selection is definitely mini, in comparison to Targets of yore. I walked in thinking I could probably find a cast-iron pan or roasting dish of sorts but could find neither. They have a lot of target-y items such as the Threshold line of home decor, the familiar clothing brands, but the selection is really minimal. It struck me as 'best selling' items only (e.g. a few varieties of Mrs. Meyers, but not the whole line). The layout is a little confusing and the store is over before you realize it-- though service very friendly so far. Validated parking with receipt. I thought there would at least be a second floor, kept looking for the escalator. I am sure the village of OP had lots of regulations for this target, but I've experienced much better from city-center targets (Brooklyn, Minneapolis, Chicago). read more

What an amazing addition to the OP community and area. As a young professional who attends the gym across the street, has an apartment in the Emerson and loves the fact that OP is on par with the Lincoln Parks, Wicker Parks and Lakeview. This Target is convenient with the key word being "convenient" and this is what millennials crave TBH!!!! The selections are amazing and quality brand, the Starbucks is a real gem without dealing with vagrants harassing you once you leave out. The staff is so warm, friendly and personable as well. I could go on and on, but I will say this is a breath of fresh air and I know this will be an amazing staple in the community because in order to attract millennials and young professionals in the community this is what will market to us!!!! read more

I wish they had never opened this target. This is hard for me to say because in general, I love Target. I'm a big fan. This location in particular has never excelled at customer service, I've asked (after searching for a while to find one) employees questions only to get brushed off. Every employee I encounter seems unhappy. They are not consistent with the products they offer and the shower gel I purchase is $3 more at this target than any other location I've purchased it at. They never have my full list of basics - which means I have to go to another store and I'm talking basics, nothing special. The parking garage has been blocked by trucks a few times. There is street parking. All this target has done is make the downtown oak park area over crowded - especially Lake St and interrupted the steady flow of local small business owners that is a big part of Oak Park's charm. Tonight was the last straw with the same older, short, red orange haired employee I mentioned in the earlier review. There have been way too many times where our store experience has been negative because of this woman's extremely poor customer service skills. Every time we go to self checkout, she is there standing rudely and projecting such an unwelcoming attitude and making customers uncomfortable. She has accused us before of trying to take a bag without paying the pathetic 10 cents when we had items in a plastic bag from ANOTHER store. Tonight was a misunderstanding (January 19, 2021 around 8:50pm at the farthest self checkout machine to the right), as we thought we were not allowed to bring our own bags due to the COVID pandemic (we have even been TOLD directly not to bring our own reusable bags anymore to prevent any possible spread of the virus); as a result, we thought the bag fee was dropped temporarily, as we have not been questioned or asked about it for the last ten months, and every other Target we have visited has not implemented this. All of a sudden tonight, this employee rudely PUSHES us to the side to punch our screen to go back to the previous window and have us pay for the bag. WE DID NOT KNOW, yet she was treating us like we were stealing, with a snide comment of, "We've been doing this for three years." We refused to pay for something so silly so we just decided to carry our items by hand in principle. I would not be surprised if that same bag was not disposed, and now another customer might have caught whatever germs we may have had. I do not understand how we are supposed to know which Target locations wish for customers to pay the plastic bag fees and which ones do not during the pandemic. Why this Oak Park Target still has this insanely rude, unfriendly woman still working there and ruining Target's public image I do not know. Several of my neighbors and colleagues who live in the area have made similar complaints about her, and it is frustrating that Target has done nothing to reprimand, forcefully retrain, or even fire this employee. Target has generally had very friendly, open, kind employees, but this one somehow slipped through the cracks. If she has some kind of problem, then it should be made aware to customers, or she should simply just not be working in a customer service job. I am furious!!! I normally don't react to racism or talk about having any encounter with racism or anything of the sorts but today I had to write about this it was completely unprofessional and degrading! I bought Apple Airpods from target in Schaumburg Today 5/24/2020 but when I got home they were not charging and not connecting so I came to this target just because i was in the area and I had them with me with my receipt, I was not aware that it takes 24hrs to be able to return to a different Target I just assumed i could return it, when I get inside to the customer service desk I was "assisted" by a Joshua person And this is when things get interesting, I explain to him the situation but this whole time he's eyeing me up and down telling me he cannot take the AirPods he takes the AirPods out of the box three times!!! to verify the serial number which has been verified the first time he took it out the second time he took it out and now the third time he also requests that I have to give him the Apple Square to charge the AirPods which don't come in the box saying he needed everything that was in the box that does not include the charging cube but he is demanding it then he calls please supervisor/manager named Kyle. And boy was that a treat. They verify again that the serial number matches the serial number in the AirPods, still giving me that look of I may have stolen them or replace them with fakes even though I brought in the box I brought in my receipt my proof of purchase like I'm trying to return a fake product treating me like I'm sort of criminal. Why would I want to do that when I'm spent my hard-earned money to get something nice for myself that didn't work. read more

There's very little reason to go here. Starbucks? There's a better one a block away and even better options just down the street? Groceries? Doesn't hold a candle to the Jewel, Whole Foods, and Trader Joe's that are already here. Housewares? Their selection is too limited. This store will need to do much revising if it wants to efficient. The overall organization of the floor layout makes little sense, specifically regarding the issue with how much space the store is warranting to baby or toddler clothing. I don't see the need for it at THIS Target, considering it is on Lake Street. It should act as a super-mart of sorts...not attempting to compete with our many lovely boutiques in the area that sell children's clothing. I've lived in Oak Park for 20 years and was pretty excited to not have to travel to Hilllside or Broadview to go to Target. This should be called Target Express because it's not a full service Target and selection is slim. It's convenient if you need something quick but you most likely won't get exactly what you want and when I've gone in things are misplaced. Also the store definitely has some security issues to work out. My son went in to buy a birthday card and box of chocolates and he was followed to the door. He could hear the security guard walking behind him because his radio was turned up loud enough for him to hear a woman telling the guard he was walking out without paying. The security guard caught up to him before he walked out and stopped him so my son showed him his receipt and the guard just said sorry I don't know what she's talking about. I thought maybe this was a one off situation and maybe the store opened to a lot of theft but then I went in two months later and some Target employee stood a foot from me and looked directly at me while I paid for my purchase. The checkout is self pay so I understand they need to monitor it but they seem a bit over zealous and that's not something Oak Parkers are used to. I hope they work these issues out since I only live 3 blocks away but I will still head out to Hillside unless I only need a couple things. read more

I was so excited for this Target to open up. Target is one of my favorite stores but not this location. I had high expectations, thinking it would be a scaled back version of the Target on State St. in the loop. This one is a bare bones store. It's slightly bigger than Walgreens, but cleaner. This store is almost always out of sale items like frozen pizza. This happened to me three times. I don't mean to be ungrateful. I am glad it's there but I am underwhelmed. read more

So I wanted to wait a few months before reviewing this mini Target. So far, it's a great addition to OP. No, it doesn't have the expansive square footage of the average stores(hence why it's a mini Target) but it serves t purpose. While I appreciate Trader Joe's and WF's, when it comes to certain brands, sometimes you just want what you want. This Target is actually a bit bigger than other mini versions I have visited in the city and they do a great job of including the basics of each dept. and keeping it clean and organized. Only gripe is some of the employees who engage in outside conversation while on the clock. It's simply unprofessional. I don't need to hear about how so and so is getting on your nerves, what time you get off, how tired you are or what some other customer did earlier. I hope this Target stays! read more

I can't complain about the size, it doesn't really bother me especially since we knew it was not going to be a full sized target. It has all basic needs and is in a good spot. My bad review is purely based on employees. My very first visit in there I approached the register, no hello no how are you, in fact she didn't even face me and continued to talk to the other employees laughing and joking. She scanned all of my items without even making any type of eye contact or talking to me in anyway. As I entered my card I had to wait while she finished her conversation with the others so I could actually enter in my pin, then waited for the receipt to pop up and she faced all the other employees and just held it in her hand which I then proceeded to have to lean in and grab it. No thank you, no goodbye, so I snarkely said "Thank you??" because I was in such shock at the complete lack of customer service. No verbal recognition whatsoever.
