They have made strides to improve their relationship with all customers not just the fringe. I'm glad they are closed today on Christmas. I like shopping here better than the mart store as quality is a bit better and the experience is definitely better. In my opinion they have nicer people working here. read more

Target is aiming to target your wallet to spend more than you initially intended. When you go to pick up multiple items, you end up with the store in your cart. Most locations are strategically placed, allowing you to find plenty of food options.. In terms of staff and personality, this Newport News location appears to be more challenging. read more

Super quick visit because I just needed to relieve myself & of course Target forced me I had to buy something (not really complaining tbh). Nice, clean, and loved how many people were out on the floors restocking. Best self-checkout experience ever. Andrea (inside of the spelling) was sooooo sweet and kind! She complimented me + her overall demeanor really just brightened my day. So glad I ended up stopping here! read more

This target is always stocked, cleaned, and packed! It's evident it's a favorite amongst Newport News residents because how it's always packed. I love target's collections! The new Grayson collective is so adorable! Personally I wish it wasn't always so packed (morning, afternoon, evening, night, weekdays and weekends- I've been here during all those times) but it's just clear how nice of a Target this location is. read more

I visited this Target on the day of Targetgeddon. Yes, that dreaded day when all Target systems went down "globally" and they couldn't check anyone out or give a time when the system would come back up. It was hell. Children were screaming. Women were angry. Men were annoyed. Target's staff? Frustrated - but I didn't see one of them lose their cool for the hour I was there. I take my hat off to you all! Before the event happened: The store was really well stocked, which is a first! Replenishing stock on Saturday morning ahead of the rush, there were plenty of staff on the floor to help. They were very approachable, many in different parts of the store asked if I needed help to find anything, made friendly conversation, and seemed to be enjoying what they were doing. Refreshing to see! Going to Target without a shopping list is dangerous. Who is with me? I mean really, no one even goes to Target to get anything in particular or because they need "something", you just let Target tell YOU what you need. With that said, I'll visit this store more often - seems to be better stocked and managed. I too like living dangerously... A solid 4 stars, especially as the staff were so good at trying to keep customers up to date with the happenings of Targetgeddon, and really gave it their all to stay calm. read more

Cannot complain. Target definitely is a one stop shop. Coffee? Grab it and shop. Dollar section? Grab things you don't need! Clothes? They have it all. Food... yeah get your groceries too. Toys? Yep they even have those... The end caps of the lanes have the clearance section most of the time. 4 stars because today it seemed to be... messy... isles were empty or sparse. Maybe rearranging... but it was more than normal. read more

This Target location is pretty poor. I came and exchanged a few items and waited close to 10 minutes or maybe 15 while the GSTL was finishing up taking money from self-checkout. They seem a little understaff because it wasn't busy at all however there should always be someone at Guest Services when a guest walks in. I'll keep shopping at Peninsula Town Center. read more

I was in target last week for over an hour and saw something I was quite impressed with. The glass display has lunch sandwiches and foods and pizza hut boxes and a worker came over and refreshed the pizza and other food with fresh new food. So many grocery stores and restaurants just leave the food under the lights forever and it tastes awful. Also I went there only for the sale on soda but the displays are so pretty and appealing I just went ahead and did all my grocery shopping there which I usually don't. The store is always super clean and doesn't have debris all over read more

So - it's Target. Most of the locations are pretty much the same, but this one on Jefferson in Newport News is consistently clean, managed efficiently, and I've never had trouble locating what I need. I stopped in earlier this summer to purchase a new swim suit and they had quite a large selection of both one and two-piece mix and match options for women. Also a lot of reasonably priced covers and beach bags. I was able to find some that worked for me and was able to get out of there under $100 for the lot. We also recently needed a new coffee maker and purchased a small one here. Reasonably priced compared to online retailers, and we were able to pick it up right away. We also frequently use this location when we need to print quality pictures. The photo studio is efficient, timely and has always produced high quality images for us suitable for framing. As a company, Target supports family friends and LGBTQ friendly policies -- and that's important to me in terms of where I spend my money. They treat their employees well, and that is also a perk. Compared to Walmart, I MUCH prefer spending my money here. read more

This Target is more often than not, very busy. The parking lot is plenty big though so you can usually find a spot. Bullseye's Dollar Spot is frequently low or out of stock. If you see something you like, you better snag it while you see it because it probably won't be restocked. I do highly appreciate that staff always have carts sanitized, lined up and ready just inside the door. The staff members that have helped me at Customer Service for returns have always been friendly and accommodating - but I can't say that for all the staff on the floor. Overall, it's fine to pop in for a quick stop, but if you're looking for something specific it wouldn't be my first choice. read more

This Target is in walking distance from the Patrick Henry bus stop for bus #112. I rode it there and walked there today. It's 1/2 mile away. Target didn't have everything I needed, but they had most of the things on my list at a good price. I even asked an employee for help, but a sewing kit wasn't where she said it'd be and they don't sell shopping push-carts. They had rubbing alcohol, big alcohol wipes and four notepads for .50 cents each though. Target didn't have any printers under $100 or any luggage under $50. I don't need them now unless I spot a great deal and the prices are a little high. I may return to this Target. It was good overall. I like how they open at 7 a.m. Whole Foods doesn't open until 8 a.m. and I needed to kill some time. read more

I used to love shopping at this Target. The customer service is nothing like it used to be. I came in looking for a clothing gift for a toddler and was shocked at the inappropriate clothing choices. The staff is rude and the store is not clean at all. read more

Target is my go to store when I need something in a hurry! They have great products for a good price. I enjoy coming to the Newport News location because the staff are friendly and it's conveniently located by my house. I decided to stop in and browse their sports section. I was looking for a reasonable priced baseball glove. I was disappointed at their selection and that it was very messy. There were gloves on the floor and many were misplaced. Unfortunately, I was unable to secure a baseball glove. The lack of selection for an item as specific as this won't deter me from coming here, but I would have liked to see a bit more selection. The checkout line was fast and easy. We used the self-checkout which had no line at all! The store itself was a tad dirty. The floor looked like it needed a good sweep, and in addition to the messy sports section there were a number of other sections the same. read more

This Target location is clean, most of the time very organized and the workers are always helpful! I love how when your with a "group of people" they don't just "assume" you're "all together" when checking out. It's always nice shopping in this store, items are easy to find if they have them in stock. read more

I don't know what I would do without a Target. They have everything you could possibly need in a classy and cool version. I always get stuck in the front section with all the cheap $1-$10 items. Seriously the best stocking stuffers in that little area. Another place I get stuck in is the home decor section. I get inspired by all their setups and the variety of items they have. The patterns and colors this store has are so great and that goes for everything from clothes to plates to shower curtains. This store itself is always clean and never messed up, even during the holiday season. The cashiers are always so nice and talkative as well. Last, but not least, who could hate a Starbucks inside a store? Not this girl. read more

If you gonna go to Target on the Peninsula, I recommend going to the one at Peninsula Town Center in Hampton. This particular store in Newport News was Ok, but it was a little filthy. Trash was everywhere on the floor. Staff was friendly but they looked tired. They did have what I wanted and helpful in helping me find it. If you are in the area, this Target is not bad. read more

Like most people I love going to Target! Over the last year I've come here to get all sorts of things. I've purchased tons of baby toys, I bought my Christmas tree and all the supplies to decorate the tree and on my most recent visit I shopped in the Men's department! I rarely shop for myself but I felt like it was time I get a few new things. This Goodfellow Inc line of clothing that they carry is right up my alley! Everything I saw I liked, the T shirts, the Henley's and the button ups were all fly! I ended purchasing a little bit of everything that was there including some jeans (yes they were skinny jeans, don't judge me). I went to the fitting room and tried on a few clothes. I like that they have a front and rear mirror in there to give you that full view. After heading out I went to the self checkout line and purchased all my items. easy breezy. read more

On 5/16/22 around 6:30pm I went to Target to purchase bikes for my 5 and 10 year old daughters. Recently, their bikes were stolen and they were very eager about getting new ones. I recently purchased bikes from Walmart but my 10 year old said she had difficulty pedaling it. After doing some research and finding a bike online at Target, I brought my girls to try out a bike. On this evening, I found a bike in a bike rack for my 10 year old. She didn't like how it pedaled. We walked to the back and there were a number of bikes sitting there, assessable to customers. I actually found the one I was looking at online. I had her ride it with no other customers around, in my eye view, down and back. She said it pedaled weird. I started adjusting the knob on the handle bars. I assessed her as she rode to ensure it was the right fit. She said she liked it. I also found another bike for my 5 year old. I had her ride it. She didn't look comfortable. I adjusted the seat. I continued to assess her and she began to look more comfortable with that size bike. She told me the handle bar was moving as she rode it. She manipulated it in front of me and I was concerned. I started manipulating it also and it moved too much towards the rider. I looked around and was unable to find a worker. I looked online and it was the only bike on the Peninsula and it was not available for shipping. I looked for a target worker for assistance or the button to press for assistance. A male appeared to be walking towards me a glanced at him. He did not have any target identification on. He stopped and told me that security had him come over to tell me that my kids are not allowed to ride the bikes. Immediately I was shocked, appalled, and confused. He stared at me with a straight face as if I was being reprimanded. I asked, why would I buy a bike without them testing it. He said, I understand but they can not ride the bikes. As I'm trying to compose myself in front of my children who are watching this unfold, I told the "man" who has not identified himself, I'm not buying a bike with out them trying it. That makes no sense. Why have dressing rooms? So people can try on the clothes right. Also, as they were trying the bike out, my daughter stated that his one needs repairs and I was looking for assistance. He said well since I'm here I can assist you. He gets on his walkie and ask for someone. The female voice said that person was gone for the day. I asked where was security. He pointed down to opposite other side of the building straight down the wall way. I told the guy who was not wearing identification, " Never mind, you have left a bad taste in my mouth. " "I I no longer want the bikes." I hated to disappoint my children but everything about that confrontation was wrong! After while leaving , I walked in the direction of the security guard who was up on a piece of machinery manipulating equipment in the ceiling. I asked him did he send that man to tell me that my kids can't ride the bikes. He said yes and that there are other customers and someone might get hurt. I told him that I made sure there was no one around and that I was about to purchase those bikes and now I'm not and I walked away. Not only did I feel discriminated upon my daughters ages 3, 5, and 10 had to experience an embarrassing and unethical situation when all we wanted to do was purchase bikes. It's amazing how I could NOT find a target worker to help me with a purchase But as soon as soon as they saw these black children test riding the bikes in their mothers presence, and they sent an unknown man to their mother to reprimand her. As if I told them to play on the bikes as I shopped for other items. As if I was not a customer. As if we did not belonged there. No one even offered me assistance. No one! I am uncomfortable with my shopping experience. My children were uncomfortable. I will be seeking further assistance with this matter. read more

12/6/24 i received an email around 9pm stating i picked up my items. i was confused being i was in my bed and didn't go pick up anything. i called the store for hours no answer. i can provide my call log to show the nn store number being called. i ended up calling customer service where they issued a partial refund. i then called back to get the $15 diff and was told by the rep it was for the promotional gift card. confused again being i did not pick up my items, asked for the $15 to be refunded and was told no. i then asked to speak to jasmine (she identified as a supervisor). she cut the promotional card off and issued me my $15 diff. i am able to provide proof i did not pick up the order and called over 20 times. i asked jasmine for something for my time she told me no, and over talked me telling me she don't have to give me anything she did her job. then talked over me and hung up on me. all on recording. case #249701369. i think its crazy i have proof, which no one cared for me to send and was not compensated for my time. i was on the phone for over an hour, twice trying to get this resolved. the only people who can say my order is picked up and wasnt is an employee who steals. sad they stole my items, did not answer the phone and for jasmine to be rude and hang up. please pull the call. 8am ish on 12/17/24. very rude, even walmart ghettoness would have given me something for this incovience. good luck they dont answer the store phone either. read more

Target is normally my go to store. Recently the customer service has not been good. Last week I went to buy our daughter a calculator that was on sale for $99. Unfortunately, the store was out. I asked if I could get a rain check and the floor employee said to go to customer service to get one. Once I got to customer service the lady at customer service tells me that Target no longer offers resin checks and that I will have to go to another store. I later check Target's site and it says they do offer rain checks unless the item specifically says that it does not. A few days later I go to My Target again and the bin advertised colored index cards for .49 cents. And had unruled index cards in it and the colored ones beside it. Once I go to check out they ring up to almost 1.50 each and the manager on duty tells me that they won't honor the price even if the sign advertised the color ones because it had the white unruled index cards. It's sad, but I don't think this is going to be my go to Target. read more

I'm a huge target fan. This is an ok location, very good end cap finds and clutter free for the most part. I also love the new cosmetic and health miniatures I can now try it out prior to buying the larger size, which in past has often lead to disappointment. The low stars are due to the associate demeanor at this location they don't have that "I love working at Target glow" I know it sounds silly but that's why I go to target over Walmart and will honestly pay a little more, the workers are usually amazing and put me in a happy mood. Don't get me wrong the associates here in my opinion are not rude but just not typical target ‍ checking out was pretty basic not me leaving smiling and laughing. read more

There are so many reasons why this place has a 5 star. Let's start with, last year. My nephew's birthday came along right, well my sister is forgetful sometimes and I had to go get the Piñata and I couldn't find a paw patrol piñata anywhere's and I was going to have a major breakdown when an asked me if I was okay and if I needed help. I explained to her the situation and she said she'd be back. Guys she came back with the LAST paw patrol piñata. There is sooo much more stuff I could say but if the event of my nephew's piñata doesn't give you a pretty awesome opinion of this place then I don't know what will honestly. Kudos to these guys. Thank you for being so amazing. Each and every one of you. read more

I usually don't feel a need to review major department stores, but today Target really helped me out.
