I was shopping for sports cards at your store. I was undecided on which blaster box to get so I was looking at your inventory. When a secret shopper walked up and was harassing me and acting like he was getting boxes. I then proceeded to try and make conversation with him to see if he was into the hoppy and he replied no. I absolutely love the lay out of this store. My hometown Target is in the midst of a remodel and I can only hope it looks like this one when they are done. The flow of the aisles and staggering of the different departments, makes for a pleasant shopping experience. The store is always super clean and well merchandised. I do believe they even have some more upscaled items that are not available at the Alton store. Today I was shopping for a baby shower gift and found a fabulous Aveeno mommy & baby gift basket. It was perfect, a little something for the momma as well as the new baby. The check out process took some time, but that was okay. It was obvious they were training new cashiers. So, it was one of those weeks, meaning I was working on my so-called day off, and thought of two or three things I really should pick up at Walmart, except that the Walmart parking lot had a construction fence and a detour right and left and about 1000 too many cars. I could have shift-numbered every character on the top row of my keypad in exasperation. Or, I could simply drive a half-mile north to Target, for which I opted. Target had everything I needed, and great signage to help me find it: dog food in pet supplies, rain-x wiper blades in automotive, a few food items in grocery, and a small notebook in office supplies. Clean, well organized, and nearly no waiting at check out. When poor parking and colossal crowds and long lines are too much for your cheapness gene, skip Glen Carbon's version of Sam Walton's dream, and drive to Target. read more

Thanks for the delivery. Thanks for just randomly throwing our potato chips and boxes of crackers and cereal in a big ass box and letting it roil around in the back of the UPS truck. We are so thankful that the chips were already pre-chewed for us. It's so nice that when we pour our cereal in the morning we can pour it into a glass and drink it. I decided to check out the grocery dept. I could not get over the many kinds of food and how big it was. The prices seemed comparable to other stores. I think the main thing was the brightness and cleanliness everywhere I went. Very good feeling. read more

This is the main target store I shop it. It's always clean and I always enjoy my visits. I'd be leaving a 5 star review, but I made a visit this morning around 830. I just needed to pick up a few things before work and was expecting to be in and out. However, apparently there are no cashiers working before 9am and I was forced to use the self check out lanes. Personally, I hate using self check out. It's more of a burden than a convenience, especially if I have coupons or questions. Also, I do not work for target, I do not get paid by target, therefore I should be doing the work that an employee should be doing and getting paid for. Self check out is just a way for companies to get away with employing less workers and relying on customers to perform key tasks for free. Overall, of course I'll be back. I shop at target a lot and I prefer it over Walmart any day, but I left with a bad taste in my mouth this morning and I don't appreciate being forced into using self check out. read more

Sucker Alert! I really like Target and agree with John H. whole-heartedly about avoiding Wally World but every now and then they test my patience (see previous review). A few weeks back I bought a huge package of paper towels because the sign said "$5 Target gift card with purchase". Found out by the time I was at the register that I didn't read the fine print and it was with the purchase of TWO. OK; lesson learned...or was it? After the storm swept though our area in June, I went there to buy batteries. Figured we'd get scalped because after a power outage most stores don't discount batteries. Was momentarily pleased to see the sign again: "$5 gift card with purchase." This time I was ready for them and read the next few lines of small print: "With purchase of two." Aha! They weren't going to sucker me again so I bought two since the $5 gift card would make even two packages a good deal." Got to the checkout counter and there were several people behind me. Asked for my gift card and the clerk said "You don't qualify." Too embarrassed with a crowd behind me so I paid and parked my cart. Went back to the batterie stand and read the fine print at the bottom of the sign: "With any Crayola purchase" What? Who buys crayons with batteries? Target you are a good store in many respects but you suckered me again. Color me red. read more

I don't like the new lay out. I guess they are going for a boutique shopping experience but it's Target and and I want a Target shopping experience. The clothes department looked like Walmart (yes I went there). The shoe selection is not what it used to be! :( The shoe area was so small you could barely get your cart through and it was in disarray. They seemed to have stop carrying certain cosmetics/ shampoo brands ect and that is a let down. Makes me turn to online shopping for more selection. The staff was great and friendly as always . Starbucks is a plus in any store but doesn't make me want to shop at a new renovated Target as most Targets have a Starbucks. They need to focus on selection and better price points. read more

Target is a one-stop shop, especially now that they've started carrying a larger variety of fresh and frozen food items. I rarely ever come here for the groceries but it is nice when you realize all of a sudden that you needed a gallon of milk but have already done your grocery shopping and just stopping by Target to pick up a couple of office supplies or even a blu-ray to watch for the night. The main reason why I came in here recently (though I do frequent Target) is for their nice selection of Keurig K-cups for a very reasonable price (for example, a box of 16 k-cups for $10.99 for Nantucket, Donut House, Green mountain coffee, etc, and Starbucks box for $12.99). I've gone somewhere else to check out their prices before buying any and found that Target had the best prices. So, I ended up buying a lot of different types of coffees and teas and picked up some other necessary home items I forgot about while grocery shopping. Lastly, Targets are organized and most of their stores are structured the same way so if you've gone to one and they've rearranged it, chances are, the others will also be rearranged in the same manner. read more

Target is probably one of my go to and favorite department stores although I was a bit disappointed walking into this location. Don't get me wrong the employees appear nice and helpful but it seemed a bit outdated and the layout was not my favorite. I think the part that bothered me the most was the $1-$3 section is normally where I buy random goodies that I never intended to buy but they are always presented so nicely that I just gotta' have it but not at this location. It is small and normally cluttered that I tend to avoid it. Overall it is Target (and not Walmart), I like their products and will continue to shop here. read more

Target is my favorite place to shop, they have necessities & fun stuff so it's not boring! I use the cartwheel rewards & LOVE the perks you can get though I don't know who would choose a $5 bag of candy over a $30 pair of jeans but whatever floats your boat I guess.. I like their new kids clothing line "Cat & Jack" they have really cute stuff that's very reasonably priced. My only complaint about this store would be that I usually come in the mornings after I take my kids to school & that happens to be prime stocking time at this location. Almost every aisle is blocked with a big cart at the end & there's multiple ppl cleaning the floors at various points throughout the store it's kind of a bummer because I would like to just look at everything but it makes it difficult. I'm a HUGE Target fan and my neighbor warned me that this is the oldest Target in America. While it may not be the oldest, it definitely needs to catch up to the times. All the Targets that I'm used to going to had the grocery section already built in, plus a Starbeez. This location doesn't have either. I still love Target, though. Being the bargain hunter that I am, I love to walk around the back of the aisles and look for the clearance items. Sometimes you find some pretty awesome stuff back there! I hope they remodel this one soon because it's the closest one to me. Other than that, it's still a great store. I would much rather go here than Walmart and their prices aren't that much different on most things. Plus, it's better quality. read more

The Target in Edwardsville. I have a target debit card so I save 5% off everything( this includes most gift cards) . So if they match or are about the same as Wal mart I know I got the better price. I do not even think of wal mart anymore. Now they have cart wheel. An easy app on my phone and I get discounts and coupon right on my phone, so they are always there. Great for the environment. I like the selection.I can also shop online and get the things delivered to the store or to my home. I price compare and their grocery section is cheaper then the grocery stores on many of the regular items we use. The store is clean and I can find things. The staff is helpful. I do not get lost like some other places and it feels clean and nice. Just because the prices are really great does not mean I have to feel like I am in some huge shed. read more
