***********************UPDATE********************* During my visit to this location on Thursday, October 9, 2014, one of the items that I purchased was an onion. It wasn't until I was on my way home that I looked at the receipt and noticed that I was charged for 13 onions instead of one! Of course I was highly annoyed especially since this location isn't the easiest for me to get to from my house (though it's the closest location to my house in distance). Long story short, I wasn't able to go back to the store until Sunday, October 12, 2014 when I explained to the woman at Customer service what happened. She offered no apologies whatsoever, just an attitude asking me what took me so long to return back to the store. When I explained to her that I don't live in the area, she sucked her teeth and gave me my credit of $18.24. It was an easy decision but I have made up my mind that I will NEVER shop at this location AGAIN! This Target is terrible! I only shop here because it's the closest Target store that near my house. A lot of the shelves are usually empty especially if it's a popular item that's advertised in the weekly ad. It seems like it takes forever to restock the shelves. If the shelves aren't empty than the items are usually out of place. I've literally witnessed people open up children's underwear packages and toss the underwear on the floor. Good luck with customer service, if you need assistance looking for an item just assume that this location doesn't carry it. That's what they're going to tell you anyway when they refuse to look for the item in the system or on the floor. I don't know why I'm in shock after all this is the Bronx! read more

The target is extremely closes to my college campus & home. Staff is friendly and the store always appears NEAT! (Which us usually not the case of your ordinary department store) I usually find my self comparing prices between Duane Reade and Target. With Target I'm able to kill two birds with one stone. Im able to by all my essentials of living and stil manage to leave the store with a treat for my self. (Last time it was this really cool water jug that counts the amount of times you refill it for just 10 bucks!!) How awesome is that? lol I would of gave the department store 5 stars if it wasn't for the dreadful long check out lines! Put more cashiers on the payroll guys!!! Not a big deal. It's just a Target. You can find these anywhere in the country and they will still sell the same awkward fitting clothes that you keep having to exchange. It's huge and hard to navigate, employees are scarce and rarely care to help, and there are long lines! Sounds like heaven to me! This Target is located in the generic and impersonal shopping center called Gateway Center which is in the Bronx between Yankee Stadium and Mott Haven. If you're in Manhattan, you may want to go to 145th street station and just walk across the bridge. It's not too far. read more

I really love Target. LIKE LOVE!!! Like it brings me joy hitting the dollar zone, using my Cartwheel app, and picking up a million things I didn't plan on coming in for. I frequent this location at least once a week. I am an extremely frugal grocery shopper and I have it down to an art. Target has come great deals when you combine them with coupons, the cartwheel app, and mobile coupons. I have lived in other regions of the United States and I am not sure if you shouldn't come to expect much from Target in NYC or if I am just so committed to this one since it is close to my house but this location is AVERAGE. - They grocery section normally ALWAYS looks bare regardless of the time of day. - The checkout lines are always long and barely enough open regardless of the time of the day. - The store is not as tidy as it should be and you can clearly see from pictures others has posted. What I will say is I love the prices and the cashiers are normally pretty friendly. Parking is only $3 for a couple of hours which is great and there is always plenty of parking. Hopefully this Target location steps there game up and hires more employees to handle the amount of customers that come into this store. read more

When this store first opened, everyone was nice, polite; the shelves were fully stocked and all was right with the world. Why would corporate let this store fall into such a state ? Some of the simplest and most basic items are out of stock. Items are mis-priced (watch your items as they are being scanned at checkout), cashiers are rude, stock people are evasive and personnel in general are just obnoxious. Its worth the extra $2 I have to pay to park at the 117th St Target where I've never had a problem with the store personnel or the inventory. And, when I did have a problem with an incorrect price, it was corrected easily and with a smile. read more

As previous reviewers have said, this location is severely understaffed. I love Target as a chain, but this store is always chaos and I have never waited in line for a cashier for as long as I have here. It's messy, never has any available carts, and the lines for the cash registers are unbelievable. I waited in line to check out for over 20 minutes on a busy Saturday because there were only 4 cashiers. The staff try to push you to self-checkout, but I stay in line because the issue is that they don't hire enough people and I don't want to give management an excuse to deny people jobs when the store needs the help. (Plus, the lines for self-checkout aren't much shorter either!) Target is amazing, but this store desperately needs to hire more staff. read more

I don't usually write reviews for chains or big box stores. However, my experience with this particular store compelled me to quickly share my thoughts. 1.) I'm pretty sure who ever designed the layout of the store did so with malice and intent. It does not conform to the typical Target layout that I've seen in 3-4 other stores. The layout of this store is beyond awful. It's cluttered and difficult to find specific departments, and it has a terrible flow. Who puts the cold stuff in one of the furthest corners from the registers? 2.) Good lucking finding an aisle scanner to check the price of your items! Target aisle scanners are somewhat a necessity in order to budget your shop, because a lot of items are not shelved properly or it's difficult to determine which item belongs to which tag. To say the least, their aisle scanners are scarce, and there was a literal cart traffic jam at one of them where 4 people were trying to scan stuff. 3.) This store has 0 managers. How do they get stuff done with no management? I jest, but I've never seen a sloppier frontline. Their registers were very poorly managed, which is mentioned in other reviews here. As someone with experience in this area, this really frustrates me. During rush periods at the East Harlem Target, there is often a supervisor managing the checkout lines and calling employees from the floor up to the front to check people out to alleviate the long lines. NOPE, not here. 4.) In regards to the above, the checkout lines were horrendous. I waited roughly 20 minutes in line--more than twice as long as I've ever waited in other Target lines. While this Target may be busier--and it is summer--I was shocked to see these lines. If you can make it to the East Harlem Target (which is a smaller plaza) on 117th st, go there. I will only return to this Bronx store because it is closer to my new apartment. read more

Maybe today was a REALLY off day but came around prime time, 5:30pm and everything was pretty bad: Dirty floors with paper, misc pens, dust, and receipt paper scattered around. Who sweeps or mops here? At least 100 people backed up and waiting to checkout and only 4 registers barely open, no express line open (just wanted to buy ONE thing and had to wait over 20 minutes. Nobody was called to backup the already slow and overcrowded registers. Disorganized clutter everywhere. Nothing was put back. Partly the customers to blame of course, but I didn't see any employees organizing anything either. Corporate should come and check this out because its a sorry Target indeed. read more

We who live in the five boroughs of NYC are a different breed of animal: all it takes is the smallest of gestures and we are happy people. We don't live in the suburbs or Wichita or Cedar Rapids so we aren't familiar with the whole universe of Big Box stores, so when a brave one does venture into the Boogie Down Brown, we are beyond thrilled. A Walmart ever materializing in NYC is beyond my comprehension but I digress. I live nearby from this Target. I have a teenager. I have a car. Add these things up and this means I am in this Target at least once a month, and have been since they opened. I wasn't surprised to see the mostly favorable reviews here on Yelp about this particular Target, unlike the Target at the Atlantic Terminal in Brooklyn which has clearly been identified as The Worst Target in America. I can honestly say of all the times I have been in this Target, I have gotten 99-100% of the items on my list. Easily. Each and every time. The aisles are nice and wide, the store is well lit, I'm not stepping over crap in the aisle or some syrupy gloppy mess someone left behind, inventory is plentiful so the shelves are not a barren wreck, and the people who work here, for the most part, are ok. They may not be turning cartwheels in the aisles, but at least you can find someone and they will at least try and help. Yes, it may be difficult to get a cart on occasion. Yes, you do have to pay to park here but I consider the $3 price (they recently reduced the parking prices) manageable. Yes, I did see a woman open up each and every single box of pizza at the Pizza Hut Express at the height of the H1N1/Flu season to the utter amazement and astonishment of every adult on the line behind her (the associates then had to throw out every single box she had opened and touched; when she was INCREDIBLY admonished by all of us behind her on the line she had no clue why) but they have since changed their policies and all the pizza is now sealed before you purchase. And if you get a cart from the parking lot you can take your purchases to your car in the same cart. And the lines are long. Always. But they move quickly. It is what it is. Given the choices we have of those who choose to live in NYC, it's not that bad. It's actually a lot better. read more

The Target at Bronx Terminal Market is without a doubt the worst chain store I have ever experienced. I would say that it likely has everything to do with the store's management, because by and large, the stores entry level employees (stock people, cashiers, etc.) are at least friendly. However, tonight, albeit a Saturday night, which is busy at any store, I waited for 28 minutes to get through an express checkout, and this was not my longest wait. There were no fewer than 35 people on line at this express register alone, and no additional registers were opened, and the self checkout was summarily closed, which for some reason it always is when the store is busiest. Also, store security is incompetent and under-utilized. Four or five distracted security personnel are always gathered in one place socializing while shoppers' unattended are children are trashing the place. It seems like there are routinely more items on the floor in this store than on the shelves, not to mention an extremely poor and un-replenished selection of items. I went to this store tonight out of desperation, but it seems even that is an inadequate excuse to shop here. I will not return to this or any other Target store. read more

Huge Target store, usually fully stocked with everything you could need. The groceries are also fully stocked, with all the food staples at great pricing. Parking is kind of expensive, and that's a concept most NYers don't quite feel comfortable with, especially when you're spending money in the stores. But with Yankee Stadium nearby, paid parking is a must, I guess. Employees seem kind of clueless if it's not their department, but they will make the effort to find someone to answer your question. The Pizza Hut/Food Avenue inside is horrible, skip it. Lines are long for mass produced horrible food. Starbucks inside with knowledgeable baristas, for those coffee snobs. read more

This target is a wreck... train wreck... car wreck... medical wreck..... you choose! But the customer service of this location sucks big time. I have to run an errand in the area weekly. That causes me to have an hour to kill before I pick up my dad. I thought a coffee and a hot dog at Target might fill the void. NOT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For three weeks running to food service clerk has told me they have no hot dogs because the heating element in the unit was lost. I reported this to the Target 'outsourced' customer service representative seven days ago requesting this be reported to the DM. Well here I sit 7 days later yet no correction to the issue, yes they still have no hot dogs for the same reason. This is deplorable for the following reasons: 1- The staff is clueless, they didn't even know what a customer service comment card is. The Rep behind the CS Counter honestly didn't know, America's. $8.50/hour workforce - Ughhhhhhhh 2- This has to be a 50 million. Dollar [in sales] store, why is the equipment not up to speed, the work the staff (mostly Black) like Hebrew slaves. Where's a Moses when you need one????? 3- I left a detailed complaint with a phone rep who's native tongue and language of command was clearly not English.but nonetheless I spelled out my complaint and today I see it's fruits The power of the Yelp - - is upon what I depend! This Target is alright. The only thing I can't stand is that horrid stinky socks-like smell when I come in. FO! It's a little messy sometimes as well and the lines are usually long. It is the South Bronx; people try to find anything for cheap and they don't play when it comes to those sales! Otherwise, they have a lot of useful materials there and it's huge! read more

I am a tourist from Spain, I did an order pick up . Once arrived to the Bronx terminal target I headed over to guest service to pick up what I had ordered. They ask me for identification I showed my passport and a Consular Identification Card ID. The male workers denied me from picking up my order and demanded to see a US PASSPORT or STATE ID . This is outrageous, disgusting and DISCRIMINATORY !!!!!!!! They made it seem like you have to be American now to shop at target ; I reached out to corporate office about the situation and the only response they said is yes you need a US PASSPORT OR US STATE ID TO PICK UP ORDERS . This is sad I won't ever be shopping at target again , or recommending people to shop there especially tourists like me. Ps all I was pick up was TIDE DETERGENT ! GOOD JOB TARGET ! read more

The in-store pickup here is seriously broken. People are essentially using it as a checkout to skip the long lines. If they would have done solely order pickup and made those people take their carts to the regular checkout I wouldn't have been in line for half an hour. read more

Who doesn't love target? Only weirdos. This place is cool. Parking is only 3 bucks. It's huge and has way more food than the target in east harlem. I also feel like this place is cheaper. The only bad thing is the lines. The lines are ridiculous at this target. They should hire more cashiers. To avoid the lines I either shop super early 9:30am or super late 10:30 pm. Oh and try to find a parking spot near the doors. The wheels on your cart will lock near the elevators. So you'll have to carry your bags to your car. read more

went to the Bronx Terminal Target for a television and I was not impressed. The associates in the technology section were rude when I asked for help one of them told "she did not do TVs " . When the person who could help me came she basically rushed everything. I asked the difference between all 50 " TVs she answered they're the same no difference. I decided to go on YouTube and look up the differences myself. While I did this another customer came and asked one of the associates for help he responded without breaking eye contact with his phone " yes , I hear you." My entire experience today was terrible. This is the first time I'm buying a tv in over 13 years and noticed Target had a good sale but in the future I will not buy any electronics here or return to the Bronx Terminal Target. This Target is surprisingly uncrowded. The lines were not long when I went on a Saturday afternoon and moved quickly. The workers are abundantly present throughout the store and very helpful. Only thing was that the layout seemed a bit confusing to me. Maybe it's b/c it was my first time here. It's located in a mini-mall that has a few, but very important stores: Home Depot, Bed Bath and Beyond, Burlington Coat Factory, Michael's, and I think a Marshall's. You have to pay to park in the lot, but it's large and there was parking aplenty when I went. It's $3 for 3 hours. It was plenty of time for me to leisurely do some shopping at Target, considering my confusion with the layout, and even go to Home Depot for another item. There are many taxi cabs waiting at the exit of the main stores - Target and Home Depot. So you can grab one back to wherever - I guess Harlem for me. Doesn't seem like it's that close to a subway, so probably best if you had a car or grabbed a cab. read more

Dear Target, I love, love that you have my special size shower curtain. Having a tall shower without the peoper height shower curtain has been difficult and thank to you i found the perfect fit. I ve been around to regular stores and they only have standard shower curtain but i aint standard and for you to understand that make you illuminating. Life in my tall shower is now easier and i like you now for that. It was a good impulse riding a cab at 10pm that you still are opened and get this piece that saves me waterfalls clean ups lol. Overall good values; friendly and helpful employees especially on the floor. It's clean and well stocked. I only buy what I can carry and everything else I ship if possible. So I use self checkout which is fast. If you need a cashier you wait. I also use the CVS in Target which is the only CVS I will use for most prescriptions. The Pharmacist Dr Sayed is the best. The most friendly caring pharmacist I have ever met. By my second visit he was calling me by name and I have a name most people can't pronounce. Shout out to Duval ( I probably slayed the spelling on both names - sorry guys) who when I had just gotten out of the hospital walked through cold and rain to drop off medications I needed. This is the worst Target I've ever shopped at. I have lived within walking distance for four years and have been to this location multiple times, but rarely have had a pleasant shopping experience. I will say that the location is good, and the hours and prices are great. On the down side, it is always crowded with customers, inventory is not well stocked, and items are not in their proper locations. There are so many items just thrown around everywhere, and a lot of them are broken, opened, or appear used. It is a zoo. To make matters worse, there never seems to be more than four checkout lanes open with about 50 people all trying to check out at the same time, meaning that you get to end your miserable shopping experience by standing in line for at least 20-25 minutes. I did stop by early one Sunday morning right when the store opened at about 8 AM. It was very quiet and not as messy, but the checkout line was still a long wait. I recommend shopping online, having your items delivered, and staying at least 200 feet away from this Target location. read more

I ordered something online and it says they have 1 item available for pick up in the nearby store (Middletown). One hour after I received an email that it isn't available anymore so i chose another store (more than an hour away) to pick it up. What Target is showing in their website is that you would receive an email after 4 hours the most that your order is ready for pick up. Come more than 4 hrs and nothing so i called the customer service. They asked me to wait until today (24hrs after) if i dont receive anything call them back. I called again this morning and nothing it's still showing processing, customer service told me to call store directly coz they cant do outbound calls. I called Guest services and said they cant give me an update, nasty woman from Bronx Terminal Store Guest Services who answered the call at 11:26AM on 7/26/2020. I explained to her that I just need an update because it's been more than 24hrs and i just want to know if they have it on stock and she got nasty and told me well it's still here you gotta wait and hung up on me. I love Target but you guys should be accountable with your staff's behavior. I work for another industry and we get written up for every single thing because you know why? Unfortunately we live in a world where the customer is always right. I only need an update for something i paid for and you promised a 4-hour window in your website. This is my 2nd bad experience with this store. I live an more than an hour away from that store and just so u know people depend on what you will say in your website whether you say it is 2 or 4 or 24hrs because we have jobs also or maybe like me today is my only off. But I will escalate this because consumers deserve better customer experiences from you guys. I'd take this Target over the other in the Bx ANY freaking day. The staff are so much nicer and the store is more organized and orderly. It's a joy. I love coming here. I also super dig their clothes. I always win when I pass through. I did have a really odd experience with some other patrons once in a dressing room, but that story is for another time (ask me about it if you want). But considering that I basically lived in this store last week and it never fails me with the cheap prices (oh, how I love my $1.50 Steamfresh vegetables!), it can count on seeing my glowing face every month. read more

Since you know what yelp is, then you probably were astounded to discover that a TAR-JHAY was placed in the middle of the hood in South Bronx. I mean, before you had to go halfway to Albany up on 230th st to find a single store where you could pick up your Jiffy peanut butter, a dorm inspired welcome mat, and the type of light bulbs that keep your pet turtle from spazzing out so much. But seriously, this place has the prices that such large volumes help justify. One warning though, it matters when you go. I went one morning during normal work hours and the place was pristine, whereas one Saturday evening it looked like an army of kindergartener had wreaked havoc. read more

I love coming to this place for all my shopping needs. Unfortunately my last two times I went was the worst. I tried to receive a discount and do a price match and they refused to honor it but later on I found out that they did do so. I went to talk to a manager but he still refused. It's a large Target, but: (1) The store doesn't have hand baskets to carry around when you shop, so you have to haul a large shopping cart around the store even if you're getting just a few items, which is a pain. (2) The store often runs out of shopping carts around December due to the crowds and lack of hand baskets. So you have to wait for a shopping cart or do as I did: walk around the parking garage until you find an abandoned one, and take it. (3) It's mobbed in December. (4) It doesn't have higher-priced items (e.g., Kashi pizzas) as other Targets often do, perhaps since it's in a low-income area. (5) The store is a mess, due to the crowds. My recommendation: go to the 117th St. store instead, which is better-kept and more geared towards Manhattanites. read more

Everything is always out of stock, and messy every time I go. I always pass by the cosmetics section and it is a complete mess. My favorite parts of target is the cosmetics side so it's very disappointing. I wouldn't come here for cosmetics at all. None the less, it's an okay place. read more

I had no idea there was a Target so easily accessible to upper Manhattan, so I was quite pleasantly surprised when I made the discovery today. This Target is very large, new and pretty clean. It's about a 5-10 minute walk from the subway and in a huge new shopping plaza that includes (or will soon) a Bed Bath & Beyond, Best Buy, Home Depot, Michael's, Marshall's and more! If you're directionally challenged, as I am, just get off the subway and walk towards McDonald's and it will soon come into view. As other Yelpers have reported, they have a great food section, which is fairly inexpensive. I heard a few shoppers claiming that Pathmark is cheaper, but coming from the UWS, these prices all seemed great to me. I'd give it five stars but their clothing section seemed to be kind of empty...perhaps due to the changing seasons. read more

PROS -Overall, good selection of merchandise. -So-so selection of groceries. -The store is kept clean. CONS -The lines are ridiculously and unnecessarily long!!!!!! Even though the clientele here is very loud and ghetto, Target itself has great prices. They also have a Starbucks and a Pizza Hut in here as well. The store is HUGE, and has basically anything you could need/want. Until a Wal-Mart actually opens in NYC, this is as close as it's gonna get for a discount department store. read more
