This place has really nice steak tacos with a good price and very cold coke. Great for a snack and they have never made me sick.

We ordered the lobster bisc to start and that was just creamy and yummy with a nice amount of spice.. It's the same sauce they put over the xKitic chicken. I ordered the esbeche oriental and she got the beef pibil. We were happy with their our food & the appetizer was nice surprise. I loved the dark salsa. The other was the local pumpkin seeds smashed up. Very tasty. She got the house red wine which was served cold. That's the first I've ever seen red wine cold The star of the show where is the location in the back it had a great atmosphere and lots of trees and open air really inviting and lit up well.

Very nice interior, deco, tables, settings, AC, cool music, you can always come but you cannot leave until you satisfied your hungry stomach . Service is attentive and slow as the 'hotel California ' music streaming in the background. We started with the empanadas Chaya, then stuffed cheese, longaniza de Valladolid to stay with Yucatan side. Then garlic plancha octopus and lobster pasta to be on the safe side. Empanadas and stuff cheese is below average. Octopus is really good, balanced with grilled vegetables. Lobster is small but good. Pasta sauce is not on par. Sausage is very good, the grilled onion is exceptional. For the drink, tamarind is below Mexican average standard. Take one star off.

Loncheria El Amigo Casiano - Cheap and Delicious Authentic Mexican and Yucatecan Dishes!…read more I visited Loncheria El Amigo Casiano once a day during my most recent travels to Valladolid (November 15-18) and it quickly became one of my favourite places to eat! It is located inside the El Bazar Municipal open-air food court and plaza situated on the north side of Valladolid's central square (corner of Calle 39 and 40), in the far left hand corner from the entrance on Calle 39. They serve authentic, tasty and cheap Mexican dishes and traditional Yucatecan dishes, including things like huevos rancheros, poc chuc, tacos, cochinita pibil, among many other foods. This restaurant is very casual. You order and pay at the counter, wait for your number to be called and then pick up your food from the counter, similar to the process of ordering fast food in Canada. There are no serving staff. They are only open for lunch and every time I came here, the place was packed with people! It was definitely a popular favourite for the locals. The menu is displayed in Spanish only and the staff only speak Spanish. It was a fun challenge to practice my Spanish conversation skills! Some of my favourite things to order included the huevos rancheros, tacos, panuchos, and sopes. I also really enjoyed the refreshing aguas frescas (beverage with fresh fruit, water and sugar) and they came in a large variety of flavours. My favourites were the horchata (rice-based milky drink with cinnamon and vanilla), Jamaica (made from hibiscus flowers), sandia (watermelon), fresa (strawberry) and Chaya (a spinach-like plant that is native to Mexico). The food was excellent at this place and I highly recommend this eatery to anyone staying in Valladolid. I cannot wait to return and try many more of their tasty dishes!

Just browse around and see what types of foods you're interested in. The downsides are that tables are first-come, first-serve. Meaning if you can't find a table after ordering your food, you're eating standing up. Lastly, you have to pay to use the bathroom. There is a gate that blocks the entrance to the bathrooms and you have to pay to enter.

El Meson is clearly a tourist destination: literally every diner I saw during my meal was clearly not a Yucutan native. However, if you are looking for familiar food in a restaurant with helpful staff, and you are exhausted from your day trip, then you won't go wrong with El Meson del Marques. We started our meal with a couple of the delicious Mexican margaritas (not too sweet, and just as I like them!) accompanied with some tortilla chips and Sikil P'ak, a delicious Yucatan appetizer dip of crushed pumpkin seed, roast tomato, various herbs (often chive; I like cilantro, which El Meson included), all crushed in a mortar and pestle to produce a roasty, slightly chunky dip that is delicious with the ubiquitous tortilla chips. When it came time to order the main course, my husband, who didn't want any more Yucatan cuisine tonight, ordered the salmon. The helpful waiter asked him how he would like this done, and he looked at me in bewilderment, never having to answer such a question about fish. "I'd like it cooked," he said. I immediately had visions of overcooked salmon, and quickly added, "Medium, not overcooked.". He was pleased with the finished product, cooked but not dry! I took a risk and ordered a specialty, the "stuffed cheese". The waiter looked at me hesitantly, and then quickly filled me in that this dish is a bean stew, with a cheese rind. Having done some research into Yucatan cuisine, I knew that incorporating the rinds of Edam cheese into stew is a very traditional approach. The stew arrived, with a big thick cheese rind. I probably only ate half of it, not because I didn't like it, but because the helping was huge! It looked like an innocuous bowl of soup, but just half of that bowl ate like a full meal. Wow. This is a somewhat pricey (by local standards) but good, reliable, very touristy restaurant which will offer you familiar Canadian or American dishes as well as some genuine Yucatan specialties. Service is as polished as it gets, in a dining room with spectacular decor and a wide ranging menu with plenty of choices.

Of course, while you wait to have your order taken or your food to come out, the drinks are flowing. No problem with that service. When I got my food, it was pretty good, but a little expensive. I enjoyed the tortilla chips and salsa. The house made guacamole was delicious, though.
