Menu on the wall

We stopped for gas and realized it was time for lunch. Not wanting more fast food, we decided to try this local spot. At 3pm on a Thursday afternoon, we arrived to see the parking lot occupied with three buses. I was a little overwhelmed by all the options (buffet, menu, drive through, take out, sit down), and my eyesight is terrible without glasses, so I had my boyfriend go in and order for us. We decided to get a Gatorade and three pollo, two carne asada, one carne guisada, and one barbacoa taco. They came out quick, hot, and smelling amazing! We were given napkins and containers of green and red salsa to-go. My pollo tacos were delicious--they were tacos made with soft corn tortillas, pulled chicken, shredded lettuce, and diced tomatoes. They were filled quite well, and I was full after two. My boyfriend raved about all of his and was full after three tacos.

Such good food! Even the picky kids loved their food! This is our new food stop when we come this way!

This place is a hidden gem. Great authentic Mexican food. They have a Mexican food buffet that has menudo, cheese enchiladas, beef tacos and carne guisada. The Migas place is so darn good-- if you order breakfast after designated hours there is a $2 added fee.

So good I came two nights in a row. Had a margarita on the rocks that was great. They must've used fresh squeezed lime juice

As a vegan, that made me excited because actual Mexican food usually has less cheese and can be made vegan. The business is quaint. There was a friendly hostess to welcome us in and our server was very hospitable. We ordered the chile relleno without cheese, zucchini in pasilla pepper sauce, and mole verde off the vegetarian options on the menu. We also enjoyed guacamole and chips. Our server was happy to accommodate our vegan modifications and it was really easy to communicate with him. The flavors are just WOW! Hands down the best guacamole of my life. The sauces are vibrant and rich. Everything tasted so fresh. And the prices for this quality of food cannot be beat. My husband and I literally licked sauce off the plates to make sure we did not miss one ounce of that authentic Mexican flavor. This place is top of our list of businesses to visit next time we are in town visiting family. We had an incredible experience and cannot wait to continue to explore the vegetarian menu options.

I'm not a professional food critic, but I do know seasoning, regional Mexican flavors, and what well‑prepared food should taste like -- and this just wasn't it for us. The restaurant didn't feel well-kept, and it appeared that only one server and one cook were working, plus we and another couple were the only ones there. We were served chips and salsa to start. The salsa, a taquera‑style orange sauce, was actually the best part of the meal. The chips, however, were extremely hard, not fresh, and definitely not warm. They looked house‑made, but whatever they were fried in made them almost inedible. I ordered the ribeye street tacos, and the steak was overcooked, had an odd taste, and wasn't enjoyable. I asked for extra cilantro and onions, which didn't happen, and the chimichurri they brought out was basically oil with a few seasonings floating in it. I almost complimented the Dr Pepper because it had a unique sweetness -- until I realized why. The red glass had visible staining on the inside. When I wiped the rim with my napkin, it came off dirty. They also don't offer straws, so whatever residue was in that glass is what you end up drinking. Between the food quality, the cleanliness concerns, and the overall condition of the restaurant, this was a no for us. How this place has earned such high mentions is honestly beyond me.

Food was delicious. -Menudo (5/5) was full of flavor and so much tripes; fresh diced onion and cilantro along with fresh lime was chef's kiss. -Steak fajita plate (5/5) was huge. Steak was made well and tender. Rice was flavorful so was the received beans. Comes with some lettuce and guacamole too. -Carne asada taco (5/5) - very simple dish and the steak was the star of the show. Generous Portion of meat. For the price, this is a must. We even order 2 extra to-go! -Horchata (5/5) cheap and huge cup! Great flavor! Overall, it was a good choice for our stop during our road-trip. The folks here are very friendly. Service was quick. And for the price, this one is the winner! Also, they have great chips and salsa for all guests!

Portions are generous for the price, and the horchata is legit. The staff is friendly, fast, and attentive, constantly checking in without being annoying. The place has a laid-back, authentic vibe that makes you feel comfortable as soon as you sit down. Overall, Taqueria Vallarta is definitely a spot I'd come back to and recommend to anyone looking for real Mexican food.

The quesadillas were really good with that yummy queso blanco that made them extra tasty. The chicken verde was a little different since the chicken seemed cooked in red sauce and then topped with salsa verde, but it was still good. The margaritas weren't very strong, but the food overall was delicious. It would be helpful to have a sign when you first walk in letting guests know to seat themselves, because that part was a little confusing. Inside, it's very pretty, small with about 20 tables and booths. There's a tiny bar in the corner. The floors are tile and the walls are blue with a lot of nautical and beach decor. On this Wednesday after noon it was fairly busy, with lots of families and workers eating and drinking. We were seated immediately and given menus - the menu is huge, and contains lots of breakfast selections as well as favorite Mexican lunch/dinner items. We ordered a beef taco salad and a cheese enchilada plate along with sodas to drink. We munched on complimentary tortilla chips and salsa (fiery) while we waited for our food. The meals came out quickly, large portions and tasty beans/rice. The taco salad had a crisp shell with more beans/beef than lettuce, but guac and sour cream plus cheese. The enchiladas were good, not quite hot enough to melt all the cheese inside the tortillas but they had a good flavor. Service was very friendly and efficient. Total for two entrees, two sodas was $34.16 before tip. By the way they charge a 3% upcharge for using plastic, so be aware.
