Never had a disappointing meal here. Anytime I'm in the area this is one of my go to spots. Restaurant is clean and orderly. Servers are very attentive.

One chicken enchilada and two beef enchiladas with rice and refried beans, Side of tomatoes. Very filling ,tasty!! Delicious!!

So we've only been in Portland for about a week and have already been here five times, I think…read more Maybe four. But they are so good! This is a small place, but it is clean and comfortable. The employees we've interacted with have all been very friendly, and generally prompt. As I'm most accustomed to Tex-Mex, I kind of tread lightly with more authentic Mexican food. The first time I ordered off the à la carte menu: one cheese enchilada, a chicken soft taco, and a side of rice. The enchilada was good, nothing amazing. The pulled chicken soft taco was AMAZING. For $2.49 you get a housemade tortilla STUFFED with delicious pulled chicken. So, so good. The rice was also very good, and was a pretty large portion for a side. The second time I went the same route and ordered off their à la carte: another chicken soft taco, a pulled pork soft taco, and a side of beans. Again the chicken taco and rice were delicious. The pork taco was very good too, but it was pretty greasy. Toward the end it started to kind of make me queasy. So I think it's only been four times we've been, because the last two times I've gone simple and gotten bean and cheese nachos with a side of picked jalapeños. Simple but good. Their chips and salsa have been very good, and they have a green salsa and a more creamy salsa. Both of those are too hot for me, but I'm a wimp. My husband has gotten caldo de res two times and was super pleased with it. Giant bowls of fresh soup full of large portions of beef and vegetables. I tried it the first time and it tasted like my mom's stew. Cozy and delicious. This is not a big chain restaurant. I get the sense that there are plenty of regulars. In fact the third time we went in the waiter asked where my husband was =) Prices are cheap. We've eaten for under $20 every time we've been there and, considering how much fresh food we're getting, it's an awesome deal.

I feel like this spot is a hit or miss and just not worth it when they miss. Salsa also not…read moreconsistent. Sometimes it's great and sometimes it's watered down with no spice or flavor. Service is good.

If you go through my reviews you will see I am a tough yet fair and honest reviewer that travels…read moreeverywhere. I honestly can not say enough wonderful things about this place. This place is what you dream of when you are on the road traveling and need a great meal, fast, for a great price, served by friendly attentive people. I have been in town working for a couple of months and I am here at least twice a week. My advice is to get a combo. I usually get the Texas Plate or Leon's Plate (Both $9). The flour tortillas are house made and very soft and fluffy. I ordered corn tortillas with my lengua tacos one time and they asked, "Do you want store bought or home made?" Is that a real question? Salsa is goofy in the Styrofoam cup, but here's a tip... you can ask for green sauce or a hotter red sauce they are both better than what you initially get. Service is Jimmy Johns fast. Don't plan on having a conversation while you wait for your food. I ordered and within 3 minutes my food came out piping hot. Fantastic flavors and extremely filling. You wont leave hungry. My only nitpick gripe would be the tamales are really good but you can only get them on Leon's Plate. I would love a combo with 1 tamale and 2 tacos of your choice with rice and beans. Best part is the price. I got the Leon's plate and a large Margarita and my tab was $13.52 + tip. Hell yeah...

I've been here a handful of times…read more Visit 1: carne guisada plate ordered through the drive-thru, delicious and love convenience. Visit 2: dined in and ordered carne asada plate, delicious. Visit 3: got breakfast thru the drive thru, chilaquiles with egg mixed in, no salsa ranchera They made the corn tortilla chips very soggy and there were ONIONS which I do not like and which was not disclosed, only ate a quarter or the top layer of the plate. Visit 4: was sick with vomiting so got tortilla soup. Chicken was cooked but not tenderized. I liked the one from Cancun's better. Visit 5: brought hubby here. He commented that carne guisada was overcooked, I tasted and agreed. I put this place to the true test by ordering menudo... and they failed. Menudo tasted like they didn't wash tripas after parboiling them. Each bite was initially good follow up by an uncomfortable, dirty aftertaste. My verdict: not bad, just mid. Maybe some issues with quality control. I'll be back to try the seafood though.
