As a vegetarian it's not always easy to find good food when on the road. Well. Look no further if you're passing through or live in Willits. The vegetarian burrito was soooooooo good. My daughter who is pescatarian got the shrimp tacos and said they were amazing. So two VERY big thumbs up. Would definitely stop in here if I'm passing through. Almost forgot. If you're like me and passing through Willets on the way to the Red Woods then go no further if you're looking for some decent grub to keep you trucking. The place is pretty classic Mexican in all aspects from the service, the atmosphere, and the food. The portions are large and the pricing is good, so it's incredibly easy to over order. Couple that with the salsa and chips they give you and you can easily pack in more than you intended. I had the carne asada burrito which was stuffed full and impossible to eat without making a mess. Although it was good initially, I did find that half way through it started to not taste as great. We were heading home and happened to pass by the small city of willits. Not a lot of food choices out here...but found this taqueria on yelp. We were hungry and craving some Mexican food so we gave it a whirl. Just like any taqueria, walk in, order at the counter, sit, wait for your food. We picked up a carne asada burrito, al pastor burrito, and carne asada tacos. The meat fell way short on all 3. Super dry...like reheated a few times dry. It really make the food difficult to eat even with all the fixings. Otherwise, the portion sizes were your usual run of the mill. The highlight of the meal were the chips and salsa. The chips were hot, crispy, and delish. The 2 types of salsa were amazing and had a mild kick. Really good stuff. The lady behind the counter was super friendly. Plenty of tables for you to sit. The Best Mexican food North of the Golden Gate.

We discovered this place several years ago at the 4th of July parade. We have been going there ever since! Prices are reasonable, even though they have been going up since Covid began. So what else hasn't? It is a hole in the wall restaurant and the food is GREAT! The homemade tomato garnish sauce that comes with the Chile relleno is my husbands favorite and I love the crunchy tacos! One of our two favorite Mexican restaurants in town! read more

SMALL TOWN GEM We were driving through here on our way to Sacramento and my family wanted to stop for lunch. I had packed the family bananas and yogurt but for some reason they still wanted to stop. I had my heart set on an In N Out burger but they couldn't wait 3 hours. We were heading to some Caboose sandwich place when I suggested we go here. I had read reviews about this place and the free parking space across the street helped us with our choice for food. I ordered the steak burrito and my family ordered enchiladas with stewed beef. We placed our order and it took about 10 minutes to get our food which wasn't bad for homemade food. I told my wife that we had picked the right place when the city fire department was sitting in here eating. If a restaurant has cops or fireman then you know it's good. We received complimentary chips and salsa while we waited for our food. The red salsa was really good but I loved the green creamy avocado salsa which was to die for. Luckily we were able to get a second helping because I wanted to drink both of the salsas. When our food arrived I could hardly wait to dive in but first I had to take photos. Make sure you check my picture posts to see the yumminess. My steak burrito was so good but I had to go Chicago style. I picked up my burrito and started eating it with both hands. California people eat their burritos with a fork and knife even the firemen. I don't get that. We are not at a fancy steak restaurant. Mexican food was meant to get messy with. I also poured the green salsa on my burrito and enjoyed it with every bite. The burrito even had rice in it which I can't stand. Rice is filler and in Chicago that wouldn't stand ever but I sucked it up and enjoyed it they way they made it. The steak was chopped up into little bits and had the perfect amount of char on it. In fact the quality of the meat was excellent and I only found one tiny piece of fat which is amazing. The cook did a great job of trimming the steak so my burrito wasn't full of fat. The girls got the enchiladas with the red sauce. The sauce was really good. I told my wife that even Rich Bayless would be impressed with this sauce. I was very lucky to get two bites before this yumminess disappeared forever. I really didn't want to stop for lunch but I'm glad I did. This place is a hidden gem. I do feel bad because I noticed this city is about to become Radiator Springs from the movie Cars with the addition of the new highway they bypasses the city. I'm not sure who passed the proposal for a bypass highway but it's a big mistake. This cute little town will suffer from the lose of highway traffic. I am making a plea that if you find yourself cruising on the new highway then make a detour to this cute little Main Street. There are a bunch of great places to eat and you will be amazed with how delish everything is. read more

Why do I find the best taquerias in the middle of nowhere? This has got to be one of the better taquerias I've come across in NorCal. Thanks for my buddy Shaun C. up in Eureka for giving me the heads up about this place. Whenever I travel up to Mendo or north to Eureka, I make it a point to stop by here for lunch. The meats are always spicy and tender. The carnitas and pollo asado also have all the good crispy bits thrown in there -mmmm. You can also get your burrito chimichanga style too! How many taquerias in the Bay Area do that? I normally don't get horchata but the stuff up here is da bomb! Smooth, sweet, and spicy too. Sometimes it can be a bit slow so one star off but otherwise it's worth stopping by here if you're on your way north up the 101! read more

I really don't understand all the good reviews. I've been to many taquerias and this was very sub par. Ordered tacos with no onion, got onion on them. Gave a free bag of chips which was nice but the bag was hardly filled at all but I won't complain too much since it was free. Many other taquerias let you get your own chips and don't mind you getting full bags I will add however. Beans were very ok at best, salsa was the best part of the meal honestly, that was amazing! Service was good, though, food just wasn't that great. Would not recommend, you could find plenty of better options. read more
