Pork belly and fish tacos
Chantee F.

This is a solid spin on Mexican cuisine with bold flavours and big portions. My kind of happy meal. Kicking things off with a Bloody Maria, it was all kinds of fun and spice done right. My companion had the original Michelada which was way too spicy for both of us, every sip like a smack in the face. Thankfully the food was much kinder. A fried oyster that took several bites with a yummy sauce went down easy. The cheesy grilled corn was a delight. Then came the giant tacos. These are no tiny Mexican street tacos, they are super sized. For the price they needed to be but worth every pence! The pork belly was thick cut and tender, great bbq sauce and crunchy sweet potato topping. The fish tacos took it to a new level. Creamy sauce atop perfectly cooked fish with cabbage. I highly recommend it! Overall service was quick and friendly. Busy but fun ambiance. I would gladly return for more delicious bites.

My son had the fish tacos which we all a bit sceptical about - no need, they were delicious! The horchata was excellent too. Staff were very friendly. The perfect place to go after a trip down Portobello Road.

This isn't simply one of those "it's good Mexican food...for London" type of places. This is simply GREAT Mexican food. And not Cali-Mex or Tex-Mex food - real authentic Mexican food. The name would suggest that it's the type of place that serves quesadilla suizas, has a jukebox and Chivas de Guadalajara posters on the wall, but it's not. This is really high-end Mexican comfort food. For a gringo, I'm a bit of a Mexican food snob. I lived in San Francisco's predominantly-Mexican Mission District for 12 years, I studied Spanish in Guanajuato for a month, I got engaged in Guanajuato, I got married in Puerto Vallarta, and I've been to Mexico at least half a dozen other times. I don't claim to be an expert on Mexican food, but I will say that this place is as good as any Mexican restaurant I've ever been to - including places in Mexico. Ok, maybe it's because I've been in London for 2 months and this is only the second time I've tried Mexican food here, the first being some bizarre Mexican-Italian place in Chelsea that we were satisfied with simply because it didn't completely suck. Taqueria not only doesn't suck, it's the complete opposite of suck. They have tacos al pastor garnished with pineapple - that wins huge points for authenticity right there. They make delicious and fresh chilitos rellenos. They serve churros con cajeta. That's right - they have cajeta. And what Mexican meal would be complete without drinks? They have Pacifico, Negra Modelo, Bohemia, Dos Equis Lager AND Amber, plus they make both cheladas and micheladas. Really good cheladas. Their tequila selection is outstanding, and if that wasn't enough, Corralejo Reposado (the one in the tall blue bottle) is their default top-shelf tequila for fancy margaritas. I freaking love Corralejo Reposado. I'm going to find it very difficult to not eat here at least once a week. I can't wait to go back just to get a poloma and the pozole. Plus it's decently priced. We splurged on 4 drinks, 3 orders of tacos, 2 appetizers and 2 desserts and the bill came to a relatively reasonable £54 with tip. That's obviously not cheap, but I've spent at least that much on far lesser Mexican meals at restaurants of this caliber in San Francisco. If you were more price-conscious then you could still easily get out of here for £15-20/person including a (really good) drink and tip.

One of my dearest friends is totally mucho loco for all things Mexican and she wanted to try out Taquería. I love Mexican food so I didn't have to think twice. First thing you notice when you walk in is the very grilly grill smell. And just so you know that smell will follow you home as well. Other than that all good by the look of the place and the waiters welcomed us politely and with a smile. All the waitors also spoke both english and spanish which was very cool in my opinion. I ordered 2 scallops, a ceviche and a fish taco. They were actually all very tasty and I got my tummy full but I wasn't very hungry to start with. So the portions were quite small especially for the prices. The two scallops set me back like 3,5 pounds, the ceviche was 7,5 and the fish taco was like 6. So a little bit pricy if you want to eat a lot. Also I couldn't resist the churros for dessert as the lovely waitress gave them such high praise and she was totally right - they were divine. For a drink I had a nice Mexican bottled beer (which was brought in a chilled glass and was heavenly). So if you don't mind smelling like a grill and overpaying a little bit for your meal then I recommend Taquería, because it was definitely delicious and a nice visit overall.

I like this one. At the Queensway end of Westbourne Grove this is a really chilled little Mexican restaurant. I have no idea really how authentic it all is but at least 10% of the menu is written in Spanish - a good sign - and they serve up really good Margaritas to go with them - a very good sign. It's got a little bit of an American diner style, with quite a bit of chrome and a big glass front window. When I was there the staff were mostly Mexican - another good sign - and the food was really nice. There were four of us so we ordered lots of different little dishes to share which seems to be the best option, frijoles, enchilidas, tacos obviously: they have a really good mix. I'm going back very soon.

If you're looking for London's best tacos, then stop looking. There're at Taquerie, just off Westbourne Grove in the heart of Notting Hill. And there might be a few nice lil' tequila cocktails on the menu as well... #justsaying cakeandwhisky.com/2016/03/14/taqueria

Although not the cheapest or best for Mexican food in London Taqueria hits the spot. We have eaten here twice and and both times were great experiences. They actually get quite busy on the weekend and we were told around 8pm on a Friday night the wait was about 45 minutes. The second time around we came for half off Monday taco night which made every bite taste that much better! Fortunately on both occasions the wait staff was very friendly and efficient. You just have accept the fact that this isn't going to be a delicious 2 dollar taco from California and just enjoy the meal for what it is. Quesadillas toasty corn tortillas folded around melted cheese with mushroom (v) £4.10, chicken or house made Mexican chorizo £5.10Al pastor char grilled marinated pork, pineapple, diced onion, coriander £5.60Gringa pastor (pork) and melted cheese sandwiched between 2 corn tortillas, onion, coriander £6.60Vampiro char grilled tortilla, melted cheese, char grilled skirt steak or mushrooms (v), Vampiro salsa £6.25Carnitas shredded slow cooked pork, green salsa, pickled jalapeño, diced onion, coriander £6.20Carne asada char grilled skirt steak, avocado mash, salsa Mexicana £6.60Pescado beer battered MSC Alaskan pollack, avocado mash, chipotle mayonnaise, Mexican salsa, shredded cabbage £6.65

It's taken me a while to get over the transition from African to Mexican. It's been a few years now and I can't remember the former's name ... but the African kitchen that used to occupy this spot for ages and ages used to be quirky, delicious and always packed. Taqueria has a much more orderly feel to it now, I doubt if the ambience is authentically Mexican. The dishes are. It's part of the new wave of Mexican tapas-style places (an upmarket Wahaca) which replaced the super-sized Tex-Mex outlets of yesteryear. On our last visit the dark part of the restaurant (three tables on the side with the toilets and till) was completely empty, but we were still asked whether we had a booking before being shown to our table. On the whole, it was the service that let the place down ... it's actually really hard to write a negative review when the guy who serves you is so lovely and friendly. But he just wasn't a trained waiter - more likely the friend (lover?) of one of the other staff who stepped in on a quiet day. We really should have refused to pay the compulsory service charge but my friend was too embarrassed. So, what happened? We had a couple of kids in tow who don't like their food spicy. It seemed no problem to order mild versions of some of the dishes - just for them to arrive smothered in chilli sauce. The next round was perfect. The third was sprinkled with raw chillies, so strong they burnt your tongue - and left a trace on the dish. Have you ever tried to enjoy dinner with fussy teenagers?! The quacamole and chips we had hoped to nibble on while we were waiting arrived only after we asked for it twice more and after we almost finished everything else. We were asked if we wanted desert while some of us were still eating our mains ... actually, there is not such thing as main course here, but they made a point of serving each dish separately contradicting the idea of sharing and tasting. Overall, a real let down. We went home feeling flat - and still a bit hungry. A proper waiter would have had an easy job upselling ....

We really enjoyed Taqueria, AMAZING margarita's with our favourites being the classic and the naranja with chilli powder around the rim. The carne asada tacos were the best of the evening, although they were small for £5, and the carnitas were at the bottom of the list as they really didn't have much flavour. This place is a bit pricey but well worth the food and DEFINITELY for the margarita's, excelente! I'll be going back here.

Having come in from taco capital of the world (LA) outside of Mexico, I'd have to say this experience was impressive. Was not expecting to find great tacos in the middle of Knoting Hill so bravo y espero que siguen teniendo mucho exito! I highly recommend the tacos de carnitas and tacos de barbacoa. It's always best to pair it with your favorite tequila to finish off the experience.
