The company completed 2 jobs for my business. One was done well, the other installation had issues. The lock installed has become loose within a week of installation. I called, left messages, emailed the business with no response. The guy that came was nice enough, but the work that was performed was not good. The handles to the sun room that he re keyed the locks for are somehow loose now. The worse problem of all is the key pad on the front door was not put back together properly so it wasn't working. Long story short I got locked out of my home that night because I use the keypad to unlock the door. I called several times along with my wife and never not once did anyone answer the phone or call back. So I had to call another locksmith and pay $180 to get them let me into my house. And I had to put my keypad back together correctly myself to fix that issue. read more

Tap was the person assigned to rekey our new home under our home warranty. He was very responsive when it came to scheduling the appointment and on the day off arrived about 30 minutes early which was not a problem. Tap was very friendly, respectful, and professional. He got the job done quickly and my fiance and I were happy with the experience. However, a few days later we noticed he forgot to rekey one of our locks which is now loose and have been trying to get in contact with him with no success so far, hence the 3 star rating. Wow, couldn't believe I locked myself out of my house this morning when I left to go on a walk. Luckily I had set the alarm. When I realized what I had done I contacted Tap's Lock and Key and asked if they could come out and get me in. They were very affordable, better than the last time I locked myself out.. .yes, I did it before, you would think I would learn. In any case the young man who came out was very professional, courtesy, and got me in very quickly. I was amazed then we talked for a while and found him to be very personable as well as efficient. I was so pleased that I was able to call someone before 8 am on a Saturday, actually get a real person to answer then have them be such a delight on the job, showed up in twenety minutes as stated and got the business taken care of. I laughed when I saw that whomever from this "Taps Lock & Key" place read my review - four months later- and then posted that my review is a "scam" ?? That I never hired them??? That's just straight up funny. Instead or arguing or apologizing - either one I would expect - they wait - get this - A YEAR AND FOUR MONTHS and somehow remember me - and remember that in fact, I never hired them..... Anyway - I posted my review in March of 2013, in Aug of 2014 - he calls me a fraud and says I never hired him....or the company ...whomever.... He charged us $120 to pick the lock (only- we were told by AAA that we could have someone make a new key, which would have been worth the price) Once he did arrive it did not take long for them to pick the lock, but in my opinion for something so simple they take waaay too long to arrive and charge waaaay too much Anyway - there's your context. I realize since all his other reviews are five star - and good for him - but my opinion is valid too - that's the whole point So there you go Yelpers. Today I tried to go shopping and ended up locking my keys in my trunk. I had called several places to get a locksmith and found many to not be open or be really rude with me. One guy even tried to cut me off on the phone. I finally reached this locksmith and he was really nice with me on the phone and tried his best to save me some money. He gave me a few scenerios he could do and then gave me a quote. He showed up around the time he said he would and didn't over charge me. He wrote the quote out and showed me when he was done. Great customer service, very professional! Tap scheduled our home locks to be changed around my schedule, not what was necessarily convenient for him. He was personable both on the phone & in person. He was quick & paid attention to details. And was careful not to let the doors slam against the frame while the deadbolt sticking out. This is my second time with my review because Yelp removed my first review because it didn't have enough detail. Let me be clear. This company claims to be 24 hours. I contacted them after a break in at my home and needed to change locks on my door. I called and was told someone from my area would call me back. 1 hour and a half later they called to say they had no one in my area that could come out. I chose this company based on yelp reviews in my area. Don't be fooled I needed a locksmith immediately and received nothing. So as I said my review is a 1 if I could make it a 0 I would. Just bought a new home in Fairfield and was looking for a locksmith to re-key the locks after moving in. I saw the great reviews and thought I would give Taps a try. Called on a Friday to schedule an appointment. The person I talked to on the phone said the soonest they would be able to get to the house would be 2pm on Saturday (the next day). I said that would be great as it was the time I was actually looking for to begin with. However, the next day 2pm came and went with no one showing up. I called a couple of times and left a message (no one ever picked up). It is now Wednesday after the scheduled appointment and still no return phone call to my messages. Calls still go to voicemail. I would be fine if there was an issue and they could not make the appointment, but a simple notification would be great. I mean I would be responding to voicemails I received at the very least. I'm surprised I had that bad of customer service after reading nothing but good reviews for this place. read more

Mr. Tap returned my call within an hour and quoted me a price less than half of what I had been quoted by another local company. He arrived promptly the next morning and re-keyed 10 locks in a few hours!! Recently we experienced difficulties with a different lock and not knowing what to do we called him. He was running a little behind schedule, but was in contact with me, multiple times, to keep me informed about his ETA, which was nice. I never had to wonder if he was actually going to show up. When he got here, he was very kind and definitely knew what he was doing. At the end of the job, he asked around with me to make sure my keys worked and when there was a small adjustment to be made, to no fault of his own, he had non problem staying an extra half and hour to take care of it and didn't charge me any extra. When we were taking the dogs outside today our front door slammed closed due to the high winds the bolt lock locked us out of the house! We immediately looked on line to find a locksmith and found Taps Lock and Key! We seen the reviews and decided that we would call them. The owner arrived within 20 minutes and was polite and more so determined to open the door for us as we were outside in the cold! Tap was amazing. Tap's customer service was great, but are not very responsive and they completely bailed on the job: I lost my keys and needed my car re-keyed. I called mid-day, and they said they were unable to make an appointment until 3pm the following day. I decided to wait the 24(+) hours. The next day the technician showed up on time, but with the wrong set of keys gauges. He apologized and said he would call back and return to get back to work. The technician never called or showed back up. I called three times over a two hour span, and I have apparently been blackwalled. They will not return my calls. They messed up, could not fix the problem, and didn't have the decency to say so. The made me wait 24 hours for them to show up and disappear.
