I love this place, one of the newest Tapped & packed branches (Theres another one about 4 minutes away near the Bricklayers Arms) its my favorite place to grab coffee first thing on a Monday morning to start my week off. The coffee here is fantastic, up there with Monmouth in terms of coffee quality. The Flat whites they do here are to die for, really creamy and smooth, like no other coffee you'll ever have.
The food is great, if you buy a bowl of hot porridge there are all these nice little jars of toppings you can lavish on top. The staff are always friendly and welcoming, one of the guys I usually see always makes sure to say 'have a good day' as I leave which is a really simple touch but makes it that more friendly.
I really like the decor inside, with low hanging bare light bulbs, quality wooden seats and slightly rusted sheet metal around the counter gives it a great style. There is a tree trunk with the sugar and coffee lids on, and all the sugar pots are re-used golden syrup tins with ornate spoons.
The price are definitely at the higher end of the scale, but this is very much a 'you get what you pay for' place, the flat whites are £2.50, and only come in a smallish size, but it's the best £2.50 you'll spend all day and completely worth it. If you want a pint of coffee for under £2 go down the road to Starbucks.
I was told once that there is free wifi there but I've never been able to find any network on my phone. read more
