We celebrated a friend's birthday here at 3:00pm for happy hour, and it turned out to be a…read morefantastic experience from start to finish. One of the best surprises for anyone with a gluten sensitivity is that all of their happy hour drinks are gluten-free, which immediately took the stress out of ordering from the separate menu. While the menu does not explicitly mark items as gluten-free, the staff is extremely knowledgeable, and we discovered that a great variety of happy hour options can easily be made gluten-free. I kicked things off with the Roja sangria before moving on to the frozen trio. Although the Paloma was not freezing properly at the time, the bartender was wonderfully accommodating and expertly crafted a custom margarita using those delicious Paloma flavors instead. My trio featured the coconut agave margarita, a Paloma made with the classic margarita base in guava passionfruit, and a spicy mango margarita. For food, we started by splitting the dip trio, paired with chips that are safely made in a dedicated fryer. We also ordered tacos on corn tortillas, sampling both the chicken pastor and the traditional carnitas, and every single bite of the food was delicious. Although they do not carry any gluten-free desserts, the server offered the birthday girl one of her choosing. Between the accommodating service and the stellar food and drinks, the entire gathering was a huge success.

Our waiter was a joke. He stood behind the bar area 95% of the time that he was supposed to be waiting tables, doing absolutely nothing. It took him 15 minutes to take our drink order and another 15 minutes to bring SOME of them. He forgot others and never brought them. After a 45-minute wait a passing food deliverer could tell that our group was ready to leave, and kindly took our order and filled our missing drink orders. We received our food in a reasonable time afterwards, but the waiter's follow-up simply did not happen. Just a joke. As for the food...five people agreed that it was bland and missing elements of the dish. Missing sides, missing dressing, etc. If you own and/or manage this restaurant, it's time to catch up on what your staff is doing. Or rather, what they are not doing. We won't be back and we'll pass this feedback along.

I decided to try this place while passing through Lombard, despite the restaurant being nearly…read moreempty at lunch which, in hindsight, should've been my first red flag. I ordered a ground beef burrito, expecting, well, ground beef. What I got instead was something with the consistency of dog food and the color of pink salmon and turns out, from what I can identify, it was corned beef, not ground beef. One bite in and I knew something was off. It tasted awful, like some kind of canned frankenstein concoction, and not at all what I paid for. I get that beef prices are high right now, but swapping in canned corned beef paste and calling it a "ground beef burrito" feels like a straight-up scam. Beware: if you're expecting actual ground beef in your burrito, go elsewhere fast. Otherwise you'll be paying real money for something that doesn't even resemble what's on the menu. Update: Owner's rebuttal is classic "don't believe your lying eyes" playbook; unsurprisingly the statements made is quite verbose but lacks any substance much like their food.
