I couldn't get any advertised 24/7 emergency repair outfits to answer their phone. It was 1AM and the fire department dismissed my vulnerability telling me to call a plumber when no emergency plumbers were answering their phones. When I finally got a plumber who had worked for me before he came out to try to convince me that I needed a new furnace. He said he would come by in a day or two to fix the limit switch that needed replacing. Left alone in the house without a working furnace, I thought I better get a second opinion. Bowness Plumbing and Heating was recommended as an independent old school company that did good work st reasonable prices. I called Mitch Hurd around 3:30 AM and was surprised he answered the phone himself. I asked him to come to diagnose the problem so that I could submit a request for financial assistance to fix the furnace from Alberta government Senior's Assistance program. What I was really after was a second opinion on the face of the cost of a new furnace. My furnace was mid efficiency only about ten years old. He agreed to come to provide a diagnosis for $350. I felt that would be money well spent in the face of the costs of s new furnace. He came within 40 minutes. I was on the other side of the furnace anxiously telling him to hurry up to not go over the half an hour for $350. He was a pleasant person to chat with. When he was finished I gladly paid $350 in view of the costs of a whole furnace replacement. You probably won't believe what happened next. Mitch Hurd is a man you just can't help but love. I know I do. As he was going out the door he said, "Ella. I already fixed it. I was here anyway. Your furnace is not a dud. A limit switch replacement is common. Don't worry about it now. Your furnace is fixed". VERY, VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! I will never use another plumber in the years I have left in this life. Calgary, we are very lucky to have him. His company doesn't show up at the top of online searches. Just try to remember Bowness Plumbing and Heating.
