Hey what's up yelpers? Hope my review finds you well. It has been sometime but I missed you Yelp!…read moreThe following review of the Chris' Mobile mechanic service is broken up into different categories: appearance, environment, service, price and overall thoughts. Appearance: Normally I review restaurants and the interior and exterior quality of the spot. With Chris I am just going to simply say he was wearing his mechanic overalls and it made a difference. Purchasing a car from Craigslist you also want to make the seller feel comfortable with an unbiased mechanic. With him not in some regular clothes saying he is a mechanic I believe made a difference in the knowing that he is a mechanic and not some regular Joe Schmoe. 4 stars Environment: Chris has is own shop in West Hollywood and he also does mobile service. Meeting the selling in Van Nuys in a sketchy area was not ideal even with the ghetto bird (police helicopter) flying by and cop sirens nearby did not stop Chris. 5 stars Service: Chris did exactly what he said he was going to do. He was paid to do a pre purchase inspection. He has all his tools, he checked various items on the car: suspension, motor leaks, rust, fluids, read codes with the OBD reader, thread on tires and more. He did not have a print out however, I was able to make my own notes and listened attentively as he does have a tendency for being soft spoken. I believe he was transparent to both myself the buyer and the seller. It's still very early to say if the purchase was a good buy however, that does not diminish his skill. 5 stars Price: For pre purchase inspections he initially charged $160. However because it was on a Sunday which he does not work I was charged $190 which was still a fair price I believe since other pre purchase inspections quoted me between $150-$200. 4 stars Overall thoughts: Chris was knowledgeable, punctual, communicative, and overall helpful in the car buying process in doing a pre purchase inspection. I would definitely go to him for another service. Thank you Chris for everything and to you yelpers if you made it this far. Until then be safe and God bless!

I won't call them out since I don't want to start an argument. I hurriedly looked for a mobile tire service and found 3 of them. I requested a quote, and Ivan was the first to respond. He said he could be here in about an hour. His price estimate was good, so I asked him to come to my house. He showed up on time, texted to let me know he had arrived, and had already assessed my tire as I was walking to my car. He took care of my car with care and swiftness. In less than an hour, my car was done and ready to go.

Day 0 - 8/27: I had a flat tire late at night. This is the only reason I'm giving one star. I was…read moresold a new $550 tire that supposedly would arrive the next day. It did not. The shop provided a loaner tire. Day 4 - 8/31: After contacting them daily about the tire, they finally picked it up and installed it. Day 6 - 9/2: I had barely driven the car and the low tire pressure warning came on. I brought it back and they added air. Day 8 - 9/4: The tire was back to 0 PSI. They came out and charged me $144 to add air. At the shop, they found an air leak and told me there was a "crack" in the tire. They said they would repair it after the Labor Day closure. Day 12 - 9/8: The tire was again at 0 PSI. After several calls that morning, they eventually came around noon, removed the tire, and left my car on a jack in the parking structure. I was told it would take approximately 45 minutes. I waited roughly five hours while repeatedly being told it would be another hour, 30 minutes, or 15 minutes. I was then charged another $200 to repair the alleged crack. Day 15 - 9/11: The low-pressure warning came back on. Rather than pay another $144 for them to come out, I drove very slowly back to the shop. They took the tire, gave me another loaner, and said they would perform a thorough inspection. Day 18 - 9/14: I was told the tire had been properly repaired and was ready. I picked it up expecting the issue to finally be resolved. Day 22 - 9/22: On my first longer freeway drive, I heard a loud pop and had another tire failure. I had to wait for a tow. Update: I subsequently had the tire inspected by a Tesla professional. I was told the tire appeared to have been installed incorrectly, as though the installation had been rushed, and the technician did not find the "crack" that I had previously been told was the problem. At this point, I have spent approximately $900, dealt with repeated loss of tire pressure, multiple visits/loaner tires, significant wasted time, and ultimately another failure after being told the problem had been properly repaired. I gave the business five days to review the photos and videos I provided and contacted them to discuss a resolution. Rather than addressing the evidence or offering reimbursement, I was told to contact my own insurance company and report it. I do not believe this should be an insurance claim on my end when the dispute concerns the work performed by the repair shop. I am now pursuing the appropriate consumer and legal channels to document the matter and seek reimbursement. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this shop for tire installation or repair.
